We've all seen improbable odds where you're kicking 「bum-bum」 and taking names with a monstrous beacon bar lead suddenly evaporate as Blue AI totally human players forgets how to play. Beyond infuriating.
Well, I had it work in my favor for once.
There we were getting curb stomped by Red. Nothing was going right and it seemed likely we'd lose. Then, Red started slowing down their drops. They weren't nearly as aggressive as they'd been in the early match. Somehow, Blue had a little more life in it than the Red monster.
A minute later, and the story was vastly different.
Outcome secured.
Anyone else have any similarly astonishing tales of epic surprisery?

It is a legit tactic I use. Not always effectively, but I use it nonetheless. Sometimes if the reds get 3 beacons, they will burn themselves out going for a 4th for an easy finish. If you can kill all of their attacking bots, they run out and you can take back the beacons getting a clutch win like the OP. It doesn't always work though, sometimes red doesn't bot out and they can still keep the beacon and win.

Just last night I had to remind them, can't we just hold 3 FTW rather than always going for 4 and 5?

Some clans play like they are being paid per match so they gotta collect the win and move onto the next match to meet company KPI's.

Nice flip. I have been seeing more of these flip finishes lately because of the zombie endings though.
Play till the whistle
or until you have to leave in disgust

My version of that is quiet quitting. I don't tap out, exactly, but if I'm in a Red spawn swarm or something, I just don't bother trying to defend.

That actually happens a decent amount for me. One teams get cocky and try to push/defend a 4th beacon versus heavily fortified enemies. If the defending team can defeat the onslaught, they win due to the offensive team fizzling out. I’ve seen it happen on both sides and be cases as extreme as one team dropping a wave of really powerful bots and spawn raiding us, only to suddenly have no bite after those first bots were killed.
I also see this a lot in 6 Pack too. A lot of players there think they can get a 4th beacon in a Gareth when Trident Furies are roaming the field, leading to a team that was winning the whole match suddenly collapse due to bleeding bots the whole match. Sometimes it is hard to figure out what happened in the moment, but after looking at hangars it becomes rather clear.

Not quite the same thing, but Blue somehow (#1 Blue was a huge part) overcame 6v4 the whole game to win. My mind was blown we pulled off.
