I've gotta say as a low silver player (I think) I love the cossack as it's just fun and the gep. I know it's not fashionable to like geps, especially with the gep clubber clans of whome I've faced a lot recently. The craziest was facing 4 level 1 geps with level 10/11/12 mags, challenging!

Nobody's going to point out the fact that taran Cossacks are the ultimate anti-gep? Can duck in and out of range, dictate and force the clubber around, force a flank, have an extra dimension to use etc. Cossack for president.

Seriously. I don't use Light bots. However, the one I personally find most effective on the battlefield is the gareth. Speed contends with Stalker by 2 kmh max speed, and outguns all light bots except Jesse/Switch. HAs a shield which is twice its health. It can fight mediums to a certain extent as well.

I've actually tried Zeus Schutze a bit before I got a second Zeus for my carnage. It was actually surprisingly effective. Typically I can get a few chunks out of apathetic heavies before somebody confronts me and it immediately gets destroyed. However, I could just feel the disapproval from my teammates every time I brought it out.

Old thread but stalker because it can go stealth and steal beacons unlike the others that get blasted with rockets!

Stalker
1. because its annoying, fast, and can harass people; the first training ground on how to be a troll. 2. so that i can rant about necroposting

Stalker for some sneaky Magnum/Aphid fun. Gepard for some annoying Noricum/Gekko fun. Cossack for some target practice for reds.

I vote Gareth. But I read something about MM penalties? What is that? Can someone explain to me about the penalties?

I vote Gareth. But I read something about MM penalties? What is that? Can someone explain to me about the penalties? It is a very old thread. Information is outdated and what you talk about refers to the old MM. That explains the results of the pool which would make no sense today, I mean, Gepard has more votes than Gareth in this pool...
Currently, I would say Gareth is the best light robot and by a fair margin. It is basically a light robot with the fighting ability of a strong medium, so it clearly outclasses other light robot IMHO. Stalker or Jesse can be annoying, sure, but they just don't have the fighting ability that a Gareth has.

Gareth gets my vote. I roll with an Orkan and a magnum, as it allows to damage all manner of shield users. I used to run tulumbas and pin and keep my distance, and that was very effective. Sure the firepower isn't amazing, but if you choose your engagements wisely, you can take down heavies with skill. Sure rockets suck, but again, if you unload an orkan on someone before they turn a corner, and then juke behind cover, you can at least wear them down. The 3.0 update has made all shield bots so week with this 2x damage with kinetic weapons bull crap! In my opinion that is way overpowered. Now not only do rockets vaporize me, but a few seconds of continuous molot fire blows off my shield! Nobody can scoff at Gareths speed. Even a maxed stalker better be an amazing pilot to get away from a Gareth in pursuit. Speaking of stalkers, I smoke them all the time in my Gareth. Mainly I pick a friendly heavy that is aggressive, and let them engage, and then I sweep in and ram 32 orkan rockets up someone's butt, not to mention the magnums constant pew pew pew. Another tactic involves running with shield down, but with torso turned so shield still offers protection from enemy fire. This way you can run fast across open ground and still get some protection. Like someone earlier said, the piloting of a Gareth isn't as easy as pushing a button and vanishing from radar... cough cough stalker pilot cough... it requires skill. No it isn't a stand alone bot. Support a heavy or medium, hunt one of those skilless guys in the corner lobbing zenit, hydras, or whatever those other things are called, or cap beacons.
Second goes to Stalker, although I think hitting the stealth button should drop you from enemy huds all together. Think of how much fun that would be. They have ok health too.
Third goes to Cossack, but that's only because I loved piloting one in early tiers. Cossack requires skill for sure, and it was great training for spatial awareness. Strap a leveled up Taran, and you can act in support roll. Cossack run fast enough so stay on the ground to avoid exposure. Don't forget that enemies can shoot up too.
I have not had my hands on the light dash bot, but I'm sure I could give Gareth a run for its money.
Schutze should not be ignored as a heavy sidekick as they are robust, fast, and with a thunder, they make a good head hunter for already damaged bots.
Gepard... never piloted one, but they don't spook me at all in my Gareth.

Try a spiral Gepard. Level up the spirals to as high as possible. It's the most annoying thing ever! Use it to follow a particular red around at a safe distance and you'll see what road rage looks like.
The most fun is when a hulking red comes after you raging mad and there are no other bots nearby to interfere. You'll be dancing around an obstacle firing your spirals at the guy while he does his best to open up a line of fire. The dance of death.
