So, after an 8-month hiatus I'm back for a bit, playing my 1-bot smurf exclusively. (Which is now a 2-bot hangar essentially with the titan.) Some fun, but also some familiar frustrations
Observations.
- Leagues are now firmly split. I started in Master III with my Avenger T-Falcon, but got drawn into Champ matches a lot. Not exactly fun running just one robot. Expert I OTOH has a lot of Griffins, Leos and other cheap silver. Still plenty of tankers of course, but I don't care about them anymore. (The great thing about a 1-bot hangar is that 1-sided matches are short, as I don't have to respawn.) But there seem to be only 2 game levels left, champ and noob.
- I don't see nearly enough Avenger T-Falcons. Mine is an absolute beast, and it's dirt cheap (a gold bot, and 200 mil to get it to 12/12).
- Pixo managed to make most robots obsolete. Once the titans are out, most robots are forced to play hide and seek unless they have 2 Avengers or similar firepower to fight those beasts. I don't like it very much. This limits my 1-bot smurf to tanks -- a Punisher Ares can barely survive 2 minutes now (I got to expert I piloting it, a year ago). Avenger Weyland does well if opponents are from lower leagues, but is cannon fodder against better players. All smaller bots (I used to run a Haechi or an Ao Guang) are now pretty much out. If I had to run a full hangar, I guess I would use at least 5 Avengers, possibly more. Somehow the Avenger seems to be the only weapon that justifies silver investment (130mil to l12 Mk2) for the damage it does. Most other weapons have to be cut at level 9 or whatever.
- Funny that most players don't seem to use cover anymore, at all. What's up with that?
- Funny why people would use titans that fly, making them easy targets. With very limited playing experience the Arthur seems to be the best titan, easily.
- I feel comfy in a league where titans are usually low level. Has anyone computed how much real money one could sink into the game just to max out one titan?
- What exactly does freezing do? Seems to slow speed, but not a lot. And I don't notice a lot of extra damage in my T-Falcon. Couldn't find a description, not even in the wiki.
- The lag is HORRIBLE. Seems to be very dependent on the server the game is hosted on. In some games I'll drop during the countdown (as it used to be), in other games I'll have to watch the first 20 seconds, robots coming in one by one, before I finally drop. In the latter games all robots develop teleporting abilities sometimes...
- I really, really would like to see steam integrated. I still won't play on my phone (I'm way too old to torture my eyes with that tiny screen), and emulators are so much worse than steam. But I tried my steam account for exactly one game, which lasted about 30 seconds: I'm in silver III there with 6/5 Griffins or so. Met a maxed Mk2 Ao Jun in my first game, with (probably) maxed Last Stan. I didn't bother to spawn a second bot.
- Operations have become a cash grab, haven't they? They last what, 14 days now? Pretty steep price of 16 bucks, and a lot of grinding to get to 40. I last played when the first operation pass was out, which was fantastic value at the time.
- I do miss 6pack, big time.

T falcs are less popular because titan weapons bypass damage resistance. Just running a stock kid I can drop it on a beacon to kill a t falc easy. Mings are popular in higher levels because they can sit out at 600m with max laser weapons and kill everything. It’s like $3000 to max out a titan. Freeze slows you and also increases any damage you take by 20%. Yes lag has been pretty bad since the last update. Basically they put a little platinum in ops and decreased all other rewards. 6 pack is still running, we play every Wednesday night and there will be a team tournament season soon.

Saddest part is that bringing in the Titan isn't even done for the tactical reason. It is because of the overwhelming firepower. Just target the normal mechs, and blast away!!!

"8-month hiatus"
Funny, I play every day and I still find myself asking the same questions you ask.
A lot of players still run the T-Falc and also Fenrirs as well.
People use the flying Titans because they have insanely powerful weapons all the way out to 600m and have absurd levels of health/healing/Defense to boot.
This is just my opinion, but players that run a 1 bot hangar in higher leagues are pretty much tankers in my eyes. They contribute very little overall to the chance of a team winning the match, sure a T-falc will probably last longer than most bots but is cannon fodder when the Titans come out anyway.

Another way to look at it, is if you have one supremely powerful build, you don't need the rest. In my main hanger, I have an Ao Jun, and a T-Falc. The rest are just throwaways. The new Rime Blitz is coming along, but the Inquistior/Haechi (just retired), and Kumiho (capper) last about 5 seconds. I may as well run a 2 bot hanger and play more carefully. Unless I preserve those two I don't always get the Titan out. Welcome back Fruno!

For a change of pace I have just created a second account for my 1 bot hanger, thanks to this op then it is fitted with a blitz and his Legendary Pilot with 4 magnums. Have great fun with it, zooming around suppressing and zapping the red. Been quite surprised at how well the magnums have preformed, but my longer term plan is fit with rimes. Really like this little bot, may be tempted to convert my 5 bot account to all blitz

It's not that bad. Play 1 bot hangar on Steam, so you don't need to bother spawning the 2nd bot... Also, with 1 bot hangar, it doesn't take long (or much money) to get that 1 decent bot to a level, where you can have decent 1-on-1 against *most* Champion players you are matched against (I mean, there are the whales and the clan death squads, and then there are the Champs with ~L9 gear...). I basically got stuck in Diamond with 1 bot hangar, but a better player might make it to Champs without much trouble. Also, yeah, Arthur seems strong from the point of view of AM pilot, but you have to play AM to its strengths (mobility, decent DR when shooting from ground).

They contribute very little overall to the chance of a team winning the match, sure a T-falc will probably last longer than most bots but is cannon fodder when the Titans come out anyway. Nah, matchmaking takes care of that. The performance is more variable, granted. In a bad game I may be eliminated after 90 seconds. In a good game I'll survive to the end, and usually be #1 in damage. The whole point is that you do a lot more damage in the time you're in. This compresses the game. No long walks to the action on Springfield or Yama. See the discussion in war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/33557/1-bot-smurf-accounts-dummies. But it does teach you how to play careful, use cover, pick your matchups. And if my Falcon dies, I'll usually have done enough damage to bring in my titan.
An Avenger T-Falcon is certainly not cannon fodder against titans. Of course you have to know where you have cover, most maps have a spot where you can shoot just over an obstacle so that most of the body is covered. The rest is teamplay, lead that enemy titan into crossfire. We used to learn these things, back in the days when teamplay and cover was a thing and there was no green crack and no magic buttons that made you invincible

I seem to recall that a maxed ming with plasma weapons and four premium modules would set you back 2000$ if you purchased premium at the 1400 for 100$ deal value.
The plasma ming is overwhelming against randoms. Clanmate of mine tells me rather sheepishly that when solo he usually only uses two bots. Nightinggale to cap some beacons and do some damage, then hop into Plasma AM and proceed to mech out the enemy team and do between 4-6m damage.
However your assumption on Arthur is correct and the top meta has evolved from 6 plasma mings to 1 Plasma Ming, 2 Nodens and 3 Arthurs now. Machine guns are also widely seen now because they are actually the best for pure damage against other Titans. Plasma Mings simply can't hold against a 2-3 machine gun Arthur push with 2 Nodens in the back healing them.
In any case, welcome back. Titans have definitely shifted the picture and the gameplay massively. When I play with my smurf I often see certain defeats getting turned around once the enemy drops titans. Regular bots simply cant deal with properly levelled titans.

It's like walking war robots got its revenge over the dashing, flying, teleporting war robots. Aside from the stupid giant Ao Jun the titans play like the old game bots used to play except giant sized.

It's not that bad. Play 1 bot hangar on Steam, so you don't need to bother spawning the 2nd bot... Tempting, yes... Not sure which robot I'd run though. Did the Falcon, Weyland and Ao Guang already. Should be a gold robot preferrably, because it takes forever to build something through the workshop (let alone the high cost) and I won't spend the money required to buy even a discounted bot...

I looked into it Man, this is fun. You get 3 or 4 AI matches to start, then you're up against silver heavies, with your Destrier. You get maybe 10-20k silver in a good match, because you're destroyed so easily. And you wait 1 minute to get into a match, where you last less than a minute.
IDK. I'm not sure I can stomach the required amount of matches to even get a Gary or Griffin. Of course this is all to make the starter pack (Fujin+3Tarans) more interesting, at $10.

Oh yeah, the wait times at lowest leagues are a bit long. It gets better once you're in the same matching pool as Diamond or so, I think (that would be... bronze? IDK, it was almost a year ago). What I did was, choose to go either 2 heavies or 1 heavy and 2 light weapons. I got Natasha, which nicely accommodates both setups. Then I started to upgrade Punisher family. I bought 1 Avenger, and then I won a 2nd one, which kind decided I'd go for 2 heavies. Then choosing Ao Jun was a no-brainer, since I really like mobility. It all worked out quite beautifully. Timeframe about 6 months from start to Mk1-12 Avenger Ao Jun. I've since gotten 2 more slots because I wanted to get to Champs and just wasn't good/patient enough to do it with just 1 hangar slot. Going up from Diamond when mixed with Experts, Masters and Champs who get much more honor points was really an uphill battle.
