Actually footage of me landing my AO JUN I stink at flying this bot. My attacks are lack luster and I'm a sitting duck when I touchdown. Any hints on living to make it back into the air to make another strike?

You have to look at you ability timer, anticipate how long you have in the air and ensure that you have a safe piece of cover to return to before you ability runs out.
What weapons and levels are you running and in what league?

You need to be within range, or near to it, before you launch. That way you don't waste time in the air getting to the target.
Try to stay in cover until you are ready to fly.
Once you are in the air you need to be thinking about a landing site and not get too focussed on hitting the target.
If you can pop straight up and get effect on target that will work. Once you have used it enough times you get used to how long it will fly for.
I run Embers on mine, so the flight time and the weapon time are very similar.

I suspect you are target fixating.
As I hate AO JUNs...I recommend you keep doing that...but if you wish to actually use the bot...
A lot of your success in the air is set up by what you do on the ground. Take an extra 3 seconds to look over the battlefield from safety before you launch yourself into the void. Pre-plan your strafing run and know where you are going to land before you take off.
With practice...this will become more fluid and natural and will take less time to suss out on the battlefield.
