Having a Smurf account is great because I use bots I never ran in my main account. I've been trying to use Mender but ...
I feel like I'm always using my ability just to get to my injured teammates. When I get to them now I have to wait for my ability to recharge while they take more damage and often die.
What am I doing wrong? Is this a case of me being new to this bot? Is there a strategy I don't know about?
Part of my problem is my Mender is low level. I'm working on that but this is my resource scarce Smurf account.
Also I try to start with Mender but Pix loves to drop me late. I start and most of my team is halfway toward capping beacons. I have to hit my ability just to catch up.
Any Mender pilots out there with advice for me?

• don’t drop it first, drop it mid or late when there’s immediate heals to give. • I use LD so I can fight close to blues to heal but will make a difference in locking up reds for my mates. • I think armor mods are better than nukes because it keeps you alive and bonus with healing • if you add a pilot get the (forgets name) that boosts your heal output. • level that sucker up as healing scales with. Happy hunting and healing. Also: war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/33612/murder-turtles-ama?page=2

I didn't even know there were healing skills. Thanks again

Also I try to start with Mender but Pix loves to drop me late. I start and most of my team is halfway toward capping beacons. I have to hit my ability just to catch up. Any Mender pilots out there with advice for me? I've played a couple games with Mender... First of all, unless there's no reds remotely close to you, you should be extremely selfish with your heal bursts. The main point is for you to stay alive. If blues happen to be close, great. Obviously the best case scenario is you can start healing pulses when blues are in need and also meat shield for them and heal at the same time, but those are relatively rare scenarios. Just remember, if you're alive to keep healing yourself, more windows open up to team assist kills... so prioritize staying alive. Mender level is important, but as long as it's relative to your league is shouldn't be a deal breaker. That said having deft survivor (skill), last stand (module) and true ace (skill) in that order are what really make Mender insane in brawling scenarios. Once those are in place you really become a ninja zombie. You'll often get a full heal in, then another after deft survivor then another after last stand all while brawling up close. Super fun, but technically difficult skill wise because a lot of practice goes into timing. As far as using your ability as a speed boost, I don't think that's ultimately a good plan unless reds are 600+M away. Assuming you lose the race to the beacon/fight and you probably will regardless, it's much worse to arrive as a vanilla bot than it is to show up late with a fresh heal. Just take your time, position so hopefully only 1 red can return fire and leverage those 1v1 situations to bully beacons away or clean up after a fight. Rarely am I looking to just heal up an teammate, the only times I consider it is when it's a Falcon, Invader or Leech that hasn't had their last stand popped, simply because bots with resistance can better leverage the durability. Not sure what you're using for weapons but anything that can brawl is good, if it can pop up close and can sustain fire (spark/blaze/shotgun/shredder etc) even better. Hope that helps!

I really like shredders on Mender. I have that with pulsar. If you can separate the reloads it shouldn't be a problem. It will stop Titans dead in their tracks.
Yes I do have true Ace, and I think road hog. That's it, no fancy modules (everything 8). It's very competitive with 'meta'.
Overall it can be the strongest bot in the game... Not even an opinion, man. I find it funny hardly anyone uses it.
Oh, and I run it with basic repair. Time the repair after the first 3 seconds of heal and you will still have DR.

Some more things: * Deft survivor resets the cooldown of your heal ability, provided it has already reached cooldown. This is IMPORTANT. If your health drops below 50% before your ability is finished (all 8 seconds of it, not just the heal pulses) then you will not get a second use. * Even if you heal back up, there is no second triggering of survivor if you missed the first one per above. * Modules such as healing module, phase shift or advanced healing can be used after your healing pulses in order to make sure that your hp stays above 50% until cooldown starts. * If you're playing BR, drop into beacons that have blues on them, preferably fighting ones. * Use 1 heal per game to heal buddies, and any extras in case no reds are around, but primarily use the ability for fighting. Do not engage bots without your ability on. * The healing circle is visible for your allies, consider it their responsibility to stay in it, not yours. * Sometimes friendlies shoot you to get your attention when they want healing. Pay attention to weird shots from behind or on walls next to you. * If you're not playing BR, wait until titans start dropping on your side. They're super easy heal targets and great to hide behind. An arthur with a mender tucked between his knees is extra annoying.
With leveled weapons, a leveled pilot (5-6 skills) and proper use of cover, timing and active modules, a mender can take down 1 of pretty much anything. Mk2 lvl12 leeches included.
Mine is MK2 lvl4, weapons are lvl 11 gusts and mk2 lvl 4 storm. If I had unlimited silver and extra halos I'd make it a Halo/Cryo.

In addition to all the other good advice, the Mender ain't the fastest bot around. If you're having trouble catching up to wounded blues, you should level the bot to minimum L9 first. You might find Road Hog useful too or even Adamant Road Hog. Stick close to cover in areas that are tactical, ie, where other blues will shelter just before they make a push. Shoot at injured blues to get their attention. Corona/Shredder is a great combo. You can sub in a Taran if you don't have a Corona or if the upcoming shotty nerf will hurt you too much.

I love my Mender - only Lvl8, with True Ace and Roadhog pilot skills, and igniter/gust/rime. As others said above - you need to stay alive so no heroics (at least until you get to Bob's murder turtle levels) - scamper along alongside a titan, heal the Falcon, it's a great bot to pilot. Next to Rayker and Rog, it is my new fave

Understate things much?
