So I am curious how many bots you run that are old school, what's your reasoning behind each bot, whether it be preference or circumstance, you can elaborate.
What qualifies as old school is anything prior to dash bots in this instance, Although I would argue dash bots and descend bots are far from meta, they're still viable enough depending on the build you run and your playstyle, Im talking about OLD old school here, Natasha, fury, Griffin, etc.

Ghost Lance. Fast enough with a decent shield.
Works for me in either Redeemer Taran or Zapper builds.
Not a regular, but can hold its own.

I'm not in C anymore, but since I keep getting pushed up there...
Yeah I have an entire legacy hangar. My long range hangar is mostly legacy too. The other 3 are workshopped.

Does hover count? Itâs my oldest bot. The bot came out 2 years ago. Thatâs why Iâm a big fan of it.
I used my fury for 3 years. Hated that OP bot, but my mind changed once I got it. Thought it would last forever, but those 「fluffernutter」ers did it. Nerfed th 「dookie」 outta it.

I'll occasionally play some old skool bots but I joined the game in the latter part of the dashbot era and I prefer the dash/hover/jump bots of that time. Also don't have most of the fun gold legacy bots (Rog/Rhino/Gally) and my other legacies aren't as levelled as I like. So I don't play them much. But once I get my current hangar levelled, I'm going to turn my attention to upping some of the legacies to 12 so they can last a bit in Champions League. My Ghost Lance can be effective but still at L9 it just can't hold out long enough in mid-Champs for me to really enjoy it. Ditto the others.

Galahad, lance, rog, griffin, Leo. Not all at once, and with different load outs. For a change of pace and some old school fun. Different ways to play and have fun. Wait a minute.....Does scavenger griffin count? Just looks too cool not to play. Been thinking of a stalker build too.

I also think it's time to redefine this.
We have legacy. Legacy could end at Brit bots, and that's fine, but I really think legacy ends before Rhino.
Rhino/Carnage/Stalker, Fujin/Raijin, Gareth/Galahad/Lancelot, and Jesse/Doc/Butch should and shouldn't be considered "Legacy". I would call them post-legacy, or pre-dash
Now, Component terms early were pretty rough. So I'd like to divide component items before 4.0 (mender/weyland) as Dash Era. This means Hover, Hellburner, Mercury, Falcon, Strider, Inquisitor, Spectre, are all among the Dash era with Kumiho/Haechi/Bugasari.
I might be missing something. My memory gets very fuzzy around the blitz/rayker/invader timezone. I can't even remember if they came before or after 4.0. I'd like to say they came first, but maybe they came after, and regardless I don't think I want to include them in the dash era. I'd rather call them post-dash, with weyland/mender and on, because they introduced new mechanics dissimilar from prior mechanics.
Furthermore I'd just like to create a final era where we are now. I would simply call it the module era, but I would delay this until Phantom/Leech/Behemoth. Anything from forward is now module era.
So we have a few timezones.
Legacy (before Stalker/Carnage/Rhino )
Post-Legacy (begins with Stalker/Carnage/Rhino and ends before Kumiho/Haechi/Bulgasari)
Dash Era (begins with Kumiho/Haechi/Bulgasari and ends before Weyland/Invader)
Module Era (begins with Weyland/Invader and ends before Phantom/Behemoth/Leech)
Post-Module (Phantom/Leech/Behemoth forward)

I just cleaned out my hangar (anti-addiction) and the only old(er) bots I have left are Mender and Raven.
Hover is another old(er) bot I have my eye on.
ECU Cossack has been my most used old bot, even for capping beacons in Champions League.
When I joined the game, discount Lancelot with Ancile, Orkans and later Tarans were some of my first in-game purchases. Being dismayed at those 300/350m setups, I moved back to my Punisher T's and finally levelled two Avengers with it and continued full Leadhose, getting two Avengers ready in preparation for my first Workshop bot - the Ao Jun.
That Lancelot was the only good bot in my hangar and all it took was one single Ao Jun to kill my Lancelot (possible survival with an Advanced Repair), and they were very common in the lower leagues. In a way, it only took a visit from one Ao Jun to end my game.
And trying to charge in and get good kill streaks before that first enemy Ao Jun ended me let enemies quickly kill me by hitting me from the side and behind.

I'm going to guess and say mine's 4 of 5 "legacy". The Gareth and Leo, definitely old-school. The Ravens...old-schoolish(?) evolved Griffins. The Pursuer is the most modern bot I've got.

Dash was released in 3.1, Raven came out in 3.8, so technically it doesn't qualify. However the Leo and Gareth do.

Dash was released in 3.1, Raven came out in 3.8, so technically it doesn't qualify. However the Leo and Gareth do. If we really needed a cut-off point, it would be 3.0. Anything 3.0 and on is an entirely different beast. So if we settled on 2 prototypes, legacy should at least define anything before dash era (but I still agree legacy is truly before Rhino) Dash Era introduced new concepts, and some of those bots (cough, Falcon, cough) are abused to this day. I don't like to hate on the 3 original dash bots now (although their stats were much greater then), but shortly after radical new concepts like DR and ability damage were introduced. Hellburner quickly wrought havoc and Falcon IMO ruined the game - except maybe now with Titans. And I saw these coming. I had Falcon and Hellburner before 99% of the playerbase. I simply appreciated the concept. But with modules and then pilot skills, it became full-on absurd. I still run the bots, but not with ill-intentions.

None.
I do alright with level 9 near meta bots in Champions League, can get away with lv 6 meta like Ao Jun - but I have nothing but brutal failures trying to run lv 12 legacy like Griffs and Rhinos. Maybe I could swing a Fury with certain weapons and modules, but it’d be a cheap date most matches.
