Hello,
I have been ignoring Titans, like almost everybody else apparently, but I can see that they are going to be a thing.
I currently have 300 platinums, does anybody have any views on whether to go for a slightly better one (Ming/Arthur) or to just upgrade the Kid? I have seen some videos, but they all look ridiculous at level 150.
I know that there are more coming, I can deal with that. The rest of my bots suck against the current meta, I can cope with not having the latest and best, I just want something else to upgrade!
TIA

Ah, I see that somebody else has posted almost the exact same thread about ten minutes ago, uncanny.
Move along, nothing to see here!

No, no, stay.
Kid is good. Arthur is good. Ao Ming is good.
The weapons suck. The upgrades suck. Either put in a ton of upgrades or don't upgrade at all.
If you have more than one hangar forget about it. Just get what you want.

I want all 3, then keep 2.....1 in each hangar.
I just had a teammate take off next to me on Carrier....the Ming Thing looks crazy fun, despite being a blimp.
Earlier, on Dreadnauht(sp), a red Ming Thing had 4 slots of rockets.....very annoying.
Maybe we will get lucky and Pix will loosen up the purse strings on Platinum........

If you have more than one hangar forget about it. Just get what you want. I think that you are right. It's obviously early days, but I might stick with the Kid and upgrade his weapons. It doesn't look *much* worse than the other two, and at the rate that I get Platinum, I need a Bot with four weapons like I need a whole in the head.

I don't mind my Kid even though it's more a teenager now it's 16.
Can get the odd wrampage. I like walking up to or beacon dropping and then blasting the hot plate. Probably why I'm focusing on upgrading that first.

Some considerations that led to my own decision -
- the downtime of Kid’s ‘full action’ is a deficit; I stopped upgrading. This does not mean Kid is not good. I am just not a fan of the weapon deficit
- the Arthur shield and access to all weapons is very valuable for brawling
- the Ao Ming self healing, and loaded with Gendarme Cuirassier make for an excellent midrange support.
What it boiled down to for me was a choice of playstyle. Do I want to support or brawl? I brawl a lot and fancied a different role, especially since 99% of who I squad with run brawl gear, and I see the value of at least one mid-ranger supporting. I went with Gendarme Cuirassier Ao Ming and have been well pleased.
If I were going to choose a brawler, it would be Arthur for the shield and all-weapon access. If my intent was to drop in on the cusp of a brawl, I’d run leadhose; if my intent was to beacon bomb, I’d use the cannon and rockets.

Ao Ming is a whole new experience. And this flying tank might currently be my favourite War Robot. It gives you a clear view of the battlefield and lets you bypass some enemy cover by hitting enemies from the sky with infinite flight time using 4 heavy guns, and you can fly over your cover instead of trying to corner shoot / moving in and out of cover, you can just fly over map obstacles instead of slowly walking around them, you can self-heal, land for an extra defencey tank mode, distance yourself from point-blank shotguns with flight, hit an Arthur from a high enough angle that your guns entirely bypass it's shield and directly hit it on it's head, and more... Despite it's lower listed speed, Ao Ming is not a slouch as it speeds up during flight, can hit further than it would by shooting over map cover / obstacles from the skies, and it's currently the only bot in War Robots with infinite flight time - which lets you fly over the waters on Carrier too. Also, the damage output from it's 4x machine guns is very high: 2x Alpha Vengeances (with 75%+ Defence Mitigation) and 2x Beta Retaliators (with 50%+ Defence Mitigation). The Wiki shows them doing 5 to 10 times as much damage as the premium Plasma and Rocket weapons. Though I plan to focus on levelling my machinegun weapons first (my Vengeances already have over 80% Defence Mitigation), I'm currently upgrading health as it seems to have a very good payoff in the lower levels, and it synergises well with my weapon upgrades (doing as much damage as it can for as long as it can). Arthur would be my second recommendation (unless you like it more), even getting it as your third Titan if you want to try it. The shielding can make it a great walking fortress, and some veteran players prefer it over Ao Ming. And the Kid is both free and capable even at it's lowest level, and needs no upgrades to do well. And I say the Kid needs no upgrades yet as the most fun first upgrade might be a new Titan.

With the small amount of pt income, you could be better off waiting until the next generation of titans come out. For now, just stick with lvl1 titan and gear, see what the next set look like. You should have saved up enough pt by that time to upgrade to a reasonable level whichever titan you then decide to choose.

You should have saved up enough pt by that time to upgrade to a reasonable level whichever titan you then decide to choose. Since Pixonic has insight on all the data about their players currency savings, they surely know about that intention of saving up the platinum by many players for better titans to come. So expect the prices for new titan content to be doubled/ trippled or whatever it needs to be way out of range for normal players saved up funds! Not even talking about modules/ pilots yet, which are sure to come (how else are titans to handle eg. Stealth) Nevertheless I don't spend my platinum anymore. It seems all in vain considering the low platinum output. It would take a complete year to maximize a titan and then still your weapons are not levelled one bit. (And everybody knows what happens in one year of War Robots: content gets faster outclassed as computer hardware tech!)

It supposedly takes 1000 Platinum to max each weapon at the moment (to Level 25).
I've made 500 free Platinum so far.

Still, 1k Pt will take a while to accumulate I'm coming up to 400.. already settled on Arthur IMO Ao Ming is way too susceptible to lock down, more so than the others because it's a blimp. Poor kid got locked down over and over and over on Power Plant last night... IDK I thought I was a little rude. My mender was barely touched.

Make sure you take a cut lunch with you when taking Arthur out for a drive. I think he'll be best for beacon rush. In Dom man I came so close to nodding off one game.

I won't get it for christmas, but a day after maybe. 15+5 from ad... 415, add 10 more for the top position one, I'd be at 425 tomorrow. Would be cool if they just gave everybody 100 Pt tomorrow lol. Natasha originally ran 13-19km... and it's still my favorite bot lol

Well, at this rate, it could be faster/cheaper to max my Titan weapons than my regular ones.
Ao Ming seems to do around 41 km/h in flight (it's around 2/3 the speed of a Lv12 Ares), instead of 31 km/h. Fantastic for getting from one side of Springfield to the other, and it can hit enemies way faster than usual by hitting them from the skies. Biggest problem is getting focused and cut in half while midair.
Ao Ming is an excellent brawler when used as a walking, non-flying bot (with occasional jumping and flying as desired). Not only do you get increased resistance, but it's much harder for enemies to hit you while walking, behind cover.
Unlike the Beta Retailators (which are near/useless at 500m) those top-mounted Alpha Vengeance machine guns (the ones that look like Tempests) do great damage at 500m, and Ao Ming has two of them. I find myself killing off bot after bot (Titans included) at 500m, and Phantoms seem especially weak to them.
Ao Ming flies much higher than Ao Jun and can quickly reach the top of the map with a quick second flight off a tall obstacle. You can land as soon as you fly, which gives the Ao Ming a fast recharging jump ability too.

It does remind me of the old Walking War Robots days. Enjoy him when you get him.
