Okay so it's great that we now get 4 hour speed ups from watching adds as well as the usual offers and 10 key unlocks. However I am sure many of you have noticed the increasing number of adds that lead to products being sold through facebook. Up to about 6 months ago or less adds just promoted other games and apps however 3/4 of the adds I watch now are for products for sale via facebook.
So I stupidly purchased through one of these adds the Kalium Labs superhero bluetooth speaker. I am sure many of you have seen the same ad. A 3ft high person with inbuilt sub and tweeters that changes colours, is a charging dock for phones etc and can be controlled by your phone with the app and other functions. Is a youtube video on it and they used the same video in the ad. I even paid an extra $5US for express shipping. So was $75AUS or $50US total. They offered paypal however I just paid with my debit card. The store was IRIDESCE and hey I should know better but I had had a few drinks that night and thought this looks cool so made the purchase.
BIG MISTAKE! As soon as I did I received an email from a noreply email address confirming my order but the link to their store went to another store that didn't even sell this product. I immediately got suspicious and then googled the name to find people reporting the site as a scam and either getting nothing at all or a $2 piece of crap or re charging their card for multiple amounts. I rang the emergency number for my bank and straight away cancelled my card. They said I can dispute the transaction however need to allow 2 weeks to see if it's delivered etc. I managed to find their store via google and a email address and asked if the product was original and for a tracking number. They surprisingly responded in broken English and said it's shipped from China and can take weeks or more or less to deliver due to different shipping and countries. I replied that I paid for express shipping and they responded with that they will make sure it gets to my hands and they would refund the extra shipping cost once I received the product. I emailed again on 3 occasions asking for the tracking number with no reply.
3 weeks went by and I contacted the disputes team at my bank and they refunded the full amount however said it was still under investigation so it was a temporary credit and that if the store proved they sent the product and I received it they would re take the money out.
So 2 days ago I receive a parcel in the post. Opened it to find a $2 unbranded piece of crap little bluetooth speaker that fits in the palm of your hand. I contacted the bank disputes team and they said take photos and then return to sender under the original barcode and return address and send us a photo of the receipt. I did this this morning and emailed them the details.
So my curiosity then made me google all the shops that advertise products and guess what?? EVERY SINGLE ONE has scam alerts and says stay away.
Many of you would have seen these adds including a portable caravan, a mini excavation digger, a suitcase that turns into a mobile scooter, a usb flash drive and the list goes on. ALL SCAMS and unhappy customers.
They cut and past pictures and videos onto facebook and include anti virus verification's and safe money payments. I even read that paypal has denied refunds as they have had proof that the product was sent. I believe that's why they send you a piece of crap so they have proof they sent something and then Paypal will say it was sent and bad luck. Many people who got scammed say that paypal won't refund them because of it.
So to sum up if it looks too good to be true or seems too cheap then it is. DON'T buy anything that goes to a facebook page. The email address is also often jargon and gmail or hotmail address and address they give fake. I blame alot of this on facebook as they are not monitoring or clearing shop adds properly and allowing this to happen. Many who were scammed say they reported these pages to facebook and they do nothing or take days or even weeks to close them. The scammers just change the name or make a new page once they are reported without consequence.
Sorry that my post is drawn out but I want everyone to be aware that very little of these adds are real and are not to be trusted. Maybe even pin this post for a short time so everyone can see it and not be scammed also. Thanks for reading and as they say "Happy Hunting!"
