Hi all, being new to these forums I've got to ask. What is the deal with Gepards? Why are they not popular, to put it politely. Or am I missing something? PS, I have Gepards.

I'm not seeing many of them. Lots of stuff bigger than me. I spent a long time getting Annihilated by one shot monsters. Literally I would land and be destroyed. I reduced bot levels and hit levels where I was 'seal clubbing' I think is your term and now I'm working back up and currently seem to be in a miss mash of sometimes I'm clubbed, sometimes I'm clubbing and sometimes it's a satisfying struggle. I know if I stand still sometimes I get wiped with a couple of shots. Other times I seem to be immune. I assume that's the matchmaking thing. Big apologies now for my part in clubbing. Having said that i have found it difficult to work out on my own how to mix with our find similar levels. Think I'm beginning to get there now? Thanks for clearing it all up.

Well, more into the thing, the seal clubbers are like, 1/8 bot/weapon levels. They tend to be with people who are still using punishers since hey are not level 20. Perhaps using bots like griffins?

1. There is no question that clubbers (people who configure their bots in order to play at lower levels intentionally) use geopards because they are fast and deadly. I've even seen a coupke of instances where we counted 5 geopards and/or other excessively high-level bots on the field, but when we pulled up their profile it showed 5 cossacks (a very curious cheat code, IMNSHO).
2. However, MM isnt perfect, and I have found myself "clubbing," but it wasn't by my design, and I found it very boring and unsatisfying. I'd rather have a good battle any day, but there is nothing I can do about it. Usually, it was caused by inexperienced players leveling their bots beyond their means. Sometimes its just MM screwed up. This is why I get really angry at the last group:
3. Players who use geopards as the scapegoat - those players who lose, but if they saw a geopard on the field, they start whining about "clubbers."
I run 2-3 geopards depending on my mood along with other bots, and there are plenty of bots and weapons than can smear me on the field in seconds -and do so on a regular basis.
Robots I don't want to see while piloting a geopard: - death-button Pattons that have been leveld up enough to improve their speed slightly - Rhino - Griffins running any plasma weapon (however, I appreciate when they jump; makes it easy to hit them) - Raijin - Leo (or anything larger) piloted by anyone with half a brain - Rhino
Robots that can handle geopards if piloted by someone with half a brain - Leo or any of the teally large bots - Golem - Stalker
Weapons I don't want to see while piloting a geopard: - Trebs - Thunder - Zeus - beams of any kind - kang dae - aphids - spirals
If they are playing AT THEIR PROPER LEVEL, and they can't take out geopards that are also PLAYING AT THEIR PROPER LEVEL, they are piss-poor pilots.
Edit: because I is englilish teechr - with apologies to Homestarrunner

Gepards tend to not be good after silver, since you can see taran fujins.

What is 'THEIR PROPER LEVEL', and who exactly are you to decide?
The problem with Gepards is a game balance issue. The way the Gepards attributes scale, combined with the way MM lumps bots/weapons/levels into what we describe as 'tiers', lead Gepards to be potentially more powerful than other bots in the lower tiers (definitely in low and high Bronze, up to low Silver).
Some people say, if the game allows it and I figured it out (or at least know about it), then I should be able to take advantage of this.
Other people say, because Gepards really can be more powerful than other bots in the lower tiers (that much is not in question), then it's automatically not fair. Even though the game allows it and the equipment is available to all.
The situation has never been resolved, and the argument nearly wrecked the old forums a few times and once spilled over and nearly wrecked Android Wiki clan. It's a contentious issue.

You know what I think would help to a degree? Allowing clans an option to play other clans. I'm sure some would still want to club low levels. I believe most would rather club clans though.

sublimethunder: u forgot Rogs. My double Taran Rogs first objective is to look out for potential Geps, then annihilate them (I lose ~12k HP per MagGep). Even better if its an Aphid Gep (Rog can jump every 10 seconds, same as Aphid reload). But whats your prop with Aphids? If youre not admiring your last kill they should hardly be able to hit you SlowReflexes: I think with "proper level" he meant the level that correlates with the pilots skill. (So ~10% of players up to high silver )

Hmmmmmm, this is a general reply to all.. Contentious as this issue is with the Gepards, is it not the same for other set ups? For example, my beef is with those bots that sit out of range at the edge dropping a ton of woe on my head before I've even got close to anything. Now that's just because I like the thrill of the dash and slash. Trying to outwit other players and out time them. It's all just a matter of perspective surely? I'll bet those bots at the edge think it's all fair game because they worked hard to build up their hanger. I've just been soundly whipped (clubbed?) by bots that I just can't reach or even dodge their fire. I'm not gonna shout unfair (I'll whisper it lol). It's just the luck of the draw. Anyway, this isn't a dig or me getting to be negative. Just getting to throw another idea in the mix. Happy hunting. ?

I have yet to see a group of snipers wipe out the opposing side in under 2 minutes. This has happened to me vs. massed gepards (I had 5 slots, average life 20 seconds). Yes it isn't fun being under artillery fire, but that artillery has disadvantages when you actually do close with them and while they are sniping at you they are not capturing beacons.
