Announcing the Winners of the 2016 Forum Awards

Welcome to the inaugural year of the Forum Awards! Although we had something of an abbreviated year, moving to our own place from the War Robots Wiki, there's been tons of content and enthusiasm. The Wiki Forum has done such a great job of community-building and serving as a source of knowledge and experience, that it now even has an in-game link from Pixonic. 

Two weeks ago, we put out the call for nominations for the best of the best, those posters who truly exemplify the standards of excellence we've come to associate with this resource. This past week, we've allowed the community to make its voice known, and now it's the moment we've all been waiting for. 

Time to open the envelopes! 



Every forum needs to have a sense of humor to keep the place lively, and the 2016 Funniest Poster delivered that in spades! Like as not, they always kept us laughing.

A smiling face and a kind word can go a long way, especially in the volatile gaming environment we've found ourselves in here in the last few months. This poster is the one who's done the most to add some good spirit and bonhomie to the Forum.

If this place was nothing more than a gaggle of amateurs coming to vent spleen about common game frustrations, it wouldn't have anywhere near the impact it's had. Those posters who perform at the top level and bring their experience to the group are a large part of why people stick around. The students were ready, and the teachers appeared.

There are educators, and then there are coaches. A coach doesn't just impart knowledge, but rather embodies the wisdom and patience needed to develop others. Coaches are an integral part of the forum, and are there whenever someone stumbles in from the cold, asking can anyone please help me with my hangar?

Whether your opinion of authority bends towards Blue Lives Matter or A.C.A.B., it's plain that forums don't run themselves. It's not just about rules enforcement, but also the day-to-day administration of moving threads, keeping things focused, and responding to individual community needs. This mod/admin member of the team exemplified what the community wants to see.

Every day, a dozen or more threads are created. Most eventually fade into obscurity, but a select few are remembered as the best of the best of what the Forum has to offer.

To the uninitiated, they're dismissed at trolls. But being able to keep the pot simmering and stirred is an art, requiring just the right amounts of persistence and understanding of human psychology. For better or for worse, this poster accomplished that in spades.

There are many reasons people come to a forum. There's usually only one that makes them stay: community. The 2016 Poster of the Year goes to the poster who most embodies the best qualities of the War Robots Wiki Forum.
