I wanted to measure the effectiveness of an all boa hanger, when fit well, and collect the data available to me. After tanking myself down to the recruit league I loaded up 4 boas, refit three of them with Thunders and Tulumbas and the forth was a Thunder Magnum (level 4 a weapon a new player would have from a cossack). At 20 games I took the opportunity to upgrade all the boas to level 2 (80 minutes). Out of the box in the recruit and private league this hanger was very effective, and the fourth slot was leveraged mostly during losses, and unable to turn the tide in the majority of cases. Bronze was a different matter, and for 25 games I played on the loosing end of most battles. Seeing little gold, and lots of devastating losses for league score but staying strongly silver positive. At game 55 I upgraded the weapons. 1 boa with a L7 Thunder and L7 Tartan, two with L6 thunders and L6 Tulumbas and the last one remaining L5 Thunder L4 mag. This hanger let me start earning gold again and promote into bronze I. Data: www.sharecsv.com/s/82e1a4c084cabb7e455821cfe1926503/Boa%20Games%20-%20Data.csvMy thoughts: I was supprized at how far I was able to get with this hanger. These setups and the upgrades done are well within reach of new players. The equipment chosen will have life off of the boa: Thunders can go to a Leo or Natasha and then to a Carnage, the Tulumbas will fit nicely on an RDB, and the tartan is viable on lots of bots. The boas were only ever upgraded to level two as they are effectively disposable and I didn't want to waste the time or silver on upgrading them. Edit: If any of you have suggestions for another hanger (preferably silver) I will happily listen to those as well.

Obviously Boas are good if you tank down to recruit league.

Wow, tanking all the way down to zero. That must have been quite an effort.

Wow, tanking all the way down to zero. That must have been quite an effort. Not to zero just into recruit.... 663 was my starting league score (it's noted in the top section of the data). Honestly the level of play down there isawful. You can't have any sort of strategy against chaos, you have to go with the flow every game. I was grateful to get out of there and into private. The difference in the level of play is massive, but it still isn't good. Low bronze is interesting, because matches are so hit and miss teamwork wise. However my bots were outgunned by then and I paid a heavy price for it in both time and effort... If the lower leagues were clubbing/farming then bronze was me giving everything back and then some. I honestly almost quit several times till the weapon upgrades at match 55, that let me keep going in the face of repeated whippings.

So, recruit was "awful", private "isn't good" and bronze was "hit and miss".
Hrm. So "pilot skill and teamwork" trumps everything else at low levels...?

Obviously Boas are good if you tank down to recruit league. There are Leo's and Natashas down there. This exercise was more for me to be able to give sound advice to a friend I'm trying to encourage to play. An all boa hanger will get him far, and the upgrades I recommend will not go to waste (the weapons have uses off of the bot). I earned enough silver to do an all heavy hanger, and I may split between LEO's and RDB's just to see how far that can get me.

At first, I was thinking wasted effort because it has been well established that boas are good bots for new players and can take you up to the cusp of big bot land.
But then I realized with all the changes that the old conventional rules and wisdom have been upended by the new MM and leagues....so good to go back and reverify that some things are still holding true. There are many posts saying you now only need heavies to compete so good for you in doing the work in staking a place for mediums.
Cheers!

You don't see a lot of pilot skill even in bronze.... I'm not sure if this is "everyone is going for damage not beacons" or if the players are bad. There are a lot of 3 slot level 30 gold laden hangers in bronze, people who should know better by now and don't. Shockingly I didn't start getting zentiards till bronze, go figure.

Spend your sliver upgrading the good fittings and you will see improvement. Spend your WSP on tartans and silver upgrading those and you will see improvement. You don't need to waste your sliver upgrading the boa's and they can help you earn the gold for slots 4. Extra sliver can be used to swap in heavies. Honestly I would have stuck with it longer, but by game 70 I was ready to throw my phone... three days of boa's was about all I could take, I have bots that are more fun to drive.

These tartans ...are they new Scottish weapons? Good weapon for sure, but lifting your kilt to fire... things get a little exposed and drafty.

Even nooblets can tell where the bacon is. The league score and that potential -20 popping up has seriously damaged is game.

Obviously Boas are good if you tank down to recruit league. Yeah, but the OP was using silver weapons at nooblet levels. Commendable.

So Punisher Thunder Boas? That is acceptable, as long as you weren't using Tarans or Orkans.

on my lower android account all i bought was pinata/punisher destriers to start out, then tulu/thunder boas which slowly switched to taran/thunder boas, then moved to griffins. Pretty efficient with resources

Thunder Magnum Boa? What? Honestly two things on that. I needed a little variety, and its a weapon that someone who bought a cossack would have if they were recycling.

So Punisher Thunder Boas? That is acceptable, as long as you weren't using Tarans or Orkans. I didn't throw a taran in the mix till match 55, so headed into high bronze and could not break in. By then I was seeing a LOT of other tarans on the field and that change/upgrade pushed me over the top.
