Good morning noble warriors.
I put 1x Redeemer and 2x Magnum on my Strider and that was a nice combination.
Despite of that I get killed during first minutes because a distance of 350m is simply too close and dangerous.
I replaced 2x Magnum with 2x Halo.
Now I lock down the enemies before they get closer than 500m and then I dash around and use my Redeemer.
The problem is that I still need to get closer to use my heavy weapon.
I plan to replace the Redeemer with Glory to keep the enemies at 500m distance.
Does anybody of you use that set up too?
What do you think?
Kind Regards

You won't get much damage and root change at 500m with the energy shotgun. They are meant to be up close. If you don't wanna be close I suggest Shredder and Avenger combo.

First, kudos to you for running Strider. Takes some skilz to run this machine well, not a bot for your average ham and egger..,
Like you, I ran Magnum/Redeemer for a while (about 1-2 months), while good, I like the Gust/Halo/Glory build the best.
Why?
I'm always needing to strafe left or right during engagements to avoid fire/stay alive, and these (shotgun/spread/locking) weapons are a better fit for my style. Strafing and firing with Redeemer can be an exercise in futility.
I use Strider as drop 1 on most maps. So does much of my squad team (clan). When there are 3 of us charging a beacon, we can usually cap it. In case there are red Hellburners, and there usually are, I can use the Halo/Glory to slow them down, and dash away, hopefully before they blow up. I run Hellburner also, but usually as drop 2.
Have fun, happy hunting, hope to see you when you get to Master/Champ!

I use strider to capture beacons or to assassinate damaged bots. Run, hide and strike from behind, like fast and silent assassin. Since its a fragile one, it cannot stand long in an open fight. I tried 2x halos and they already lock down several bots after 3-5 shots. With Glory it would be even faster. Damage is not everything - as long as those taran/orkan guys are locked, I can dance around and keep hitting them from safe distance - soon or late they will die

I'll use the Strider as an ultimate locking down machine and Rayker to weaken and injure enemies - its wonderful to see them corroding and dying while hiding

If you want lockdown, on your strider, you will still need 1 high DPS weapon. Running full lockdown on it will leave your damage wanting. If you want to run Halo, use an Ember/Thunder/Avenger. If you want to use the Glory, use Gust. This will give you a lock weapon without sacrificing too much damage just to lock a target.

Kind Regards I’ve used lockdowns, enough on my strider, I wasn’t happy with it because at level 7/8 it still doesn’t lockdown anything reliably. I’ve got some spark at 7 and a zeus at mk2 12, that thing pisses of the reds like no other. (Cue can’t touch this song) Lock on, not lock down Weapons are extremely important on super fast bots. At 120kmh, it’s hard to hit anything in a meaningful way. Even dragoon with spark misses too much. In summation, neither. Calamity, the new heavy scourge that’s coming will be the best heavy weapon along with a pair of sparks on the strider. It takes most advantage of its dodging abilities.

@tooschoolforcool, yes that works for a ranged setup. Lock-on weapons are horrid for close range dash bots. The Dragoon is the same as the Redeemer, it takes a steadier platform for more accuracy. It works better on Rayker than the Strider.

Haven't tried using my single Glory on my Strider... Did use Redeemer once and didn't like it. I can't handle certain weapons on bots with special abilities that cause me to aim worse than I already aim. I can use an Avenger or Exodus with Gusts on Strider.

I don't run a Strider, but with a bot that fast, I would have trouble landing enough consecutive shots. That's why I prefer Sparks on my Pursuer and my fave Kumiho build is with Scourges. For the Strider, if I ever got one, I probably would not run it until I got a Calamity and run it with Sparks. Until then, I would probably run it with Glory/Halos and let it be a pure root bot.

i dont think redeemer's slow firing mechanism fits well on strider's fast hit&run tactics. I will go for glory in this instance. that said, i think high burst weapons like exodus would be a better match for strider's ability: dash out, unload your rockets, and dash back in cover.

I use Glory / Spark on my Strider in Champions League, due to the need to keep moving I find that a good combination of lockdown and the ability to do damage while focusing on evasion.

500m is not playing to a single strength of the strider, and is actively courting its weaknesses.
