I'm running Viper/Exodus. Got my Viper to L8 and am working on my 2nd Exodus now. I tried the Ember, and it just doesn't seem to have the DPS I desire. Plus, the Exodus has a bigger splash radius for those corner shooting situations.
Just a comment on the Viper. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with my singular Viper. It's not as powerful as I want it to be, but since my 2 Avengers are tied up on a Leadhose Inky and Mercury, I went with Viper. So, while it's not as powerful, it does have 3 distinct advantages. 1. it goes through Anciles. I got a Carnage down to 1/2 HP from full before it could get to cover - which was close by. 2.It's new'ish, so the threat of corrosion damage as soon as people realize what it is will make them retreat. 3. People think you're a whale if you have one, or they get pissed at running away from it and come back, and that's when I unleash the Exoduses.

Exodus hands down, and it's not close. Ember is a sustained fire weapon, not very bursty. You dont want to be standing around trading punches in a Falcon with the shields down. You need to kill quickly. Exodus does this. I also think the thermite works well in this role.

But the viper *looks* cool, so there's that.

It's cheaper and quicker to upgrade, even though with Premium, it didn't take me that long to get the Viper to L8. But...I think my ultimate would probably be triple Exodus if I could swing it.

According to the Wiki, the Avenger has a MUCH higher maximum DPS and cycle damage, but I don't know if those numbers reflect the damage over time mechanic or not. Also, keep in mind that it's not often that you will be able to maximize on the Avenger's DPS because it usually means that you're exposed for that period too, so you'll need either a kick butt camping spot or a highly durable bot. On the flip side, the Viper is an energy gun. The projectile spread (is allegedly) smaller than the Avenger at range, so more shots will land at 500m, plus, it'll go through Anciles. Sure, Avengers can chew through most Anciles pretty fast, but in a brawl, anything can happen in those few precious seconds.
So, I can't really answer which is better. All I can say is that my original plan was to do Avenger/Exodus Falcon. But, since I got the Viper, I may as well use it and keep my Avengers on my Inky and Mercury because the Avenger fits those builds better than the Viper would. I haven't used my Viper/Exodus Falcon much yet. I'm still upgrading the weapons and I'm at a point where I can't really afford the L9 upgrade for the Viper unless I grind some more. But, so far, I'm not disappointed in it. The Viper is doing what it's supposed to. It's either driving reds back or drawing them in after me so that I can set up an ambush with my Exodus. If I have sufficient health left, I have a chance to survive the ambush. If not, then I die soon after I go Fangs Out. When my upgrades are all caught up, my Falcon will likely be the first bot I ever bring to L10 and beyond, just so that I can get that extra durability.

I have used both as a main weapon (Ember L11,Exodus L9) and my main concern with Exodus is once you've shot your load you have no defence until it re ups unless you go fangs out and we know how that works in less than favorable conditions. At least with Ember you have a somewhat continuous main weapon.Am I missing something ?

In a Viper vs Ember comparison, I prefer the Viper due to its range and projectile speed. I took my Viper/Exodus Falcon out a lot more this past weekend and I'm liking the build so far. It's very situational, but so far, it's doing what I want it to do. I'm not even sure anymore if I would prefer an Avenger to the Viper for the simple reason that it goes through Anciles, and the number of Ancile bots still outnumber the physical shield bots by quite a margin.

Yeah, forget ember as fangs out weapons, too slow to unload for most situations. I like it for the primary weapon however. I have OE embers and took 1 of em to mk2. If I had to pick from NE weapons, avenger would probably win for its wicked damage potential and shorter upgrade times. Use fangs out rarely, but sooo fun in the right situation. I’m using tempests atm for flexibility, and I like my exodus on inky. But my fav falcon build is def ember w 2 exodus.
