It's incredibly hard to navigate or find decent cover with a Fury Trident on the battlefield now.
They're stronger than Dragoons now since they have huge splash and they do a much better job at controlling the battlefield since nearly no bots run anciles anymore but plenty run Ecu's or built in physical shields.
I think they need to be nerfed down to 500 range since they're now basically heavy Tulus.

Is this the only good thing that came from this horrible update?

Disagree; I don't like being hit by them either, but they are somewhat effective against Dragoon builds, and those builds have had it too easy for too long. Maybe in time some changes will need to be made, but for now let those relying on Dragoons suffer a bit.

I only have one and pulled it out last night. Coupled it with 2 tempests on a Fury. Thought they might make an interesting mix as bots usually dive for cover to stop being hit by the tempest which is when I hit them with the Trident. Had some fun on the Castle map hurting an Inq hiding on the ramp of the bridge.

One of the few things PIx got right in 4.5. The midrange META builds were way too heavily skewed towards energy.
Now if only I could figure out if it's cheaper to MK2 older economy tridents (64m apiece) or buy new ones and start over? The Pix site shows they cost the same, but I thought I read somewhere the silver cost was decreasing in 4.5 on the NE tridents, making them similar to PunisherT in that new economy is cheaper than old. I just wish i could confirm it.

Not sure if the Wiki has incorporated those yet. Edit:. Here's the link. NE tridents are supposed to get 50% cheaper. warrobots.com/en/posts/279

I am 100% sure because I sold my old ones (at level 6, 6, 1) to get three new, and they only take 32M from L1 to L12 Mk1.

I once predicted that if they didn't nerf the range to 500m, this could mean doom for Dragoon Fury. Let's see if I'm right. Imagine that, and old school weapon being more OP than a new one!

Wow I feel like I went in a time warp, I guess you don't remember the old Tridents are OP you need to nerf them now days that birthed the Ancilot. Same old Pix, buff things then nerf them again so people spend money rushing things. Just break out that wallet and for $500 you can get a full hangar of Greek Bots with a magic shield to protect you. What lucky timing huh!

I have to get a few more levels on the Trident before I can really say. It's likely to be pretty situational and not likely to be a real standout guy, but its versatile.

I would like to see more specialization between heavy, medium, and light weapons and I am happy to see Tulumbas and Tridents having different ranges. It makes (pseudo-) sense, too, that you need a bigger platform in a bigger hardpoint to send a powerful rocket a bit longer.
It will be a bit more difficult time for non-ancile bots, but I think people will soon find a solution. Also, one should expect the blue Trident bots to control red Trident bots, called "team play" - perhaps rare among random solo players but that's why it is beautiful when it happens
My Tempest-Molot Natasha may speak up a little bit louder now in bigger maps. And the Punisher Galahad ... it's time to replace it with either a Bulwark or a Mender ...

Dragoon still have one extra bullet and doing little more damage even Trident has Splash damage. I would say they pretty on par with each other.

Although I hate the splash weapons so much I sold all of my Tridents, Tulumbas and Pins... I will say they encourage more movement and thus causes hiding players to move into line of sight. ?
Matches end sooner when players can't hide for too long.

I for one am glad that an old school weapon is kicking butt again.

I put two Tridents on my Bulwark and am surprised at how well they perform in Champion. The 30m splash is great for campers and I can outrange Dragoons. The auto reload feature is so much better than the old firing mechanism. I imagine if Tridents become too popular, anciles will make a comeback. Until then, I am having fun.

If tridents were nerfed to 500m range, than the only thing that could battle dragoons are other premium weapons like scourge. They need to keep it at 600m so that something over the counter can battle against it, otherwise you have to hope you can sneak into 500m range without them seeing you or lose half your health.

Case in point: A fairly balanced Domination match in Carrier. I used a lvl 9 Fury with lvl 9/9/8 Tridents for the entire match.
It is an ideal situation, I have to admit, but it proves how much more efficent the Trident Fury became after the buff. - The Carrier map is flat which means that you can easily engage with reds from 630-625m. - It also provides lots of narrow cover where it can be difficult to evade Trident missiles without exposing yourself. - The red team had no counter for the Trident Fury. Only two Dragoon bots across 6 hangars and no Tempests or other Tridents. - EDIT: Also, I use an emulator and it makes it easier to aim.
I topped my damage highscore.
I even capped a beacon. I may upload the video here tomorrow.

kukurukukuk I think Carrier is particularly well-suited for Trident. In one match yesterday, we had a couple able Trident Furies among reds, while the blue had Zenits and Spydras ... we lost despite of me scoring >1M damage. In the next match, I made it sure to remove the red Trident Fury, after losing my first bot to it. It was not too difficult since I can approach it using the underpass (or it felt easier because I was perhaps matched against lower leaguers, since this was one of the new season league placement matches). I get that tridents counter Dragoons, but they are also harder to hide from than Dragoons. Tridents require minimal aiming while Dragoons actually require some level of accuracy. I get that people love game mechanics that require less skill, I also get that Dragoons have been an annoyance to say the least. Tridents will be much worse soon.
The only ancile bots that are somewhat meta are Haechis and those are quite useless on large maps where we find Tridents and Goons. At least we can dash and hide from goons or stealth from cover to cover. Tridents can hit behind most cover with the right angles.
Once you start seeing as many Fury Tridents as you do Dragoons, you will noticed just how overpowered these things are.
Bulgasaris used to be staple LR hangar bots because of the physical shield. Now they're just free Ag for Tridents and it will only get worse.

Triple Chimera Fury targets Triple Trident Fury.

What's wrong with Molots (and maybe Nashorns) to combat Dragoons or Tridents or even Scourges with Ag gear? Anything with slowish burst to no burst is going to hurt when the good old Gunship Griffin lets it rip. Even Anciles will have trouble, if at comparable upgrade level.
