So I’m thinking about getting either a Thunder or Zeus Carnage, or a plasma (Taran and mags) Galahad. Is one better than the other? If so, which one and why? Thanks ?!

Really depends on what role you want it for.
Zeus Carnage is completely its own thing: mobile mid-range support. If that's what your hangar needs, then go for it, but plan to eventually replace the Zeuses with Dragoons.
Thunder Carnage vs Plasma Galahad really depends on what you're fighting. If you see a lot of Orkans, Carnage is better. If you see a lot of Plasma/Energy, Galahad is better. Both builds are strong against Anciles but Thunder is better vs physical shields.
I personally think the Carnage is the better long-term purchase if your goal is to reach Master League or higher, but a high level Galahad can work well in Expert League or lower.

Corona/Gust/Gust Gala is a pretty good build I could recommend. Or even as a straight out Shotgun.

Both fun builds but they fill very different roles. Some questions to consider:
What's your league now?
What will it cost you to get each bot?
Do you have weapons ready to roll, what will it cost to get your guns on at a decent level?
Thunder Carnage you'll want to get right up in Red's face and hump it with those boom sticks. Can drain anciles farther out but really shines inside 100m / against a crowd holding a beacon. Your ancile will take an Ork blast but then your willie is in the wind so you have to choose your targets wisely. Plasma will destroy you. Lots of Tarans and Scourges out there, which is what I use to shred Carnies.
Zeus you're staying back and keeping near some cover. Highly mobile sniper. 6 seconds reload for the big money shot which, isn't actually that big. You're going to want to stay at least 350m out because lvl9 Tarans will drop you dead in the time you get 1 shot off.
My Carnie is lvl10 but I've never considered it a hangar stable because it goes down pretty quick up close and I don't care for sniping. Also even Zeus at lvl10 just doesn't bring the heat. It's fun with Avengers. Throw some Goons on it you've got a Bulwark trainer bot. I don't see a lot of Carnies in Exp II but when I do I kill them with prejudice.
Plasma Galahad was my primary brawler from Gold through to Expert. I had to shelve it for a long time (Exp II now) but am rehabing it with Pulsar / Sparks. It is extremely sensitive to missile salvos from Orkan and Tulumbas, does great against kinetics or energy. Good ground speed but you have to learn to run with the shield down but facing incoming fire. Actually 2 light + 1 medium hardpoint is a very versatile build and you can run a variety of effective load outs depending on your fight style. Consider a root gun on one of your light points. Boom sticks also work great. Scourge / Punishers good fun. Even you can do Vortex / Aphid.
Main benefit of Magnums is you're always on firing mode but they don't put out that much damage. Taran can tear it up against basically anything. Lvl9 the bot for mobility and get that plasma up as high as possible. Limitation of plasma is you have to get in to 350m and there is a lot of long range out there right now.
Best answer here is you should have both but that's probably not realistic in the current economy. Can you tell I favor the Galahad?

I would view the purchase about what weapons do you want to level that gives you longer term viability and won’t be redundant.
I’ve never regretted levelling some key weapons because as the game changes I’ve been able to use them on different bots. I’ve certainly regretted levelling bots with time and resources that are now becoming and both Carnage and Gali fall into that category. I certainly wouldn’t invest past level 9.
So it becomes more of a question of what weapons do you want to upgrade. And also gives you more options down the road. E.g if you level two heavy weapons you could transfer these from a Carnage to a Quissy and Mercury - just as example.
Both bots are average as brawlers now - too vulnerable to rockets and plasma - so it’s mid-range. Zeus doesn’t really cut it anymore - Dragoon’s are so much better (but so expensive to upgrade). Perhaps consider two Avengers. Serious punch and gives you range out to 500m. Or two Exodus (I reckon they’ll always be relevant) I know it’s short range but I can imagine a levelled Carnage Exodus actually wrecking some damage in right hands.
So in terms of weapon fit out. The Carnage would be a good short term bot solution and platform to get a couple of heavy weapons levelled up that will give you some good options down the road.
The only load out I’ve enjoyed playing with the Gali recently (Skirmish) was Scourge and two spark. Thought it was a good bot. Uses the shield well. Pretty decent. I guess a Corona and two halo would be pretty good as well. But with so many rockets around if you get close to be effective I don’t think you’d last long.
Not sure if this advise is useful but I’d go with the Carnage. In fact I sold my Gali and still have a lvl 10 Carnage in storage. But put some better weapons on it than Zeus.

Honestly, I can't really recommend either if you're ever planning on getting into Expert. Both have their strengths and weaknesses and they're literally polar opposites of each other. Bot are resistant to a certain extent against kinetics, Carnage can survive RDBs, Galahad can survive energy, neither can survive concentrated Orkan fire but Carnage does a bit better against it. Both are fun and I ran Punisher Galahad for a very long time before switching to Plasma.
You have a chance to win either of them these days, so grind for the new stuff and play what you have for now.

I have both on my D3 account and I switch Galahad back and forth between plasma, Molots and Storm/Gust. The Carnage was Thunder but I have recently upgraded to Avengers. Both work well but I think I prefer the Galahad for the mobility and the ability to change from kinetic to plasma to energy cheaply. My inventory at this stage is lacking in the heavy department. Took me this long to get the Avengers...
