for those fellow War Robots pilots who are struggling for upgrades like myself, I have a few tips for speed up that I learned by the hard way.
1) Open bronze chests from keys that you collect from battles and daily chests: you will get Au with roughly 15% chances.
at the end of the month, you might amass a small fortune (1000-2000 Au depending on how many keys you collect and how lucky you are, but assuming you opened a super chest, worth of 1200 keys, and won 7 or 10 Au equally that is a whooping 1530 Au, which is roughly enough to speed up 2x 5 day long upgrades. Not bad huh) 2) Use your free by watching ads. to reduce upgrade times: that 20 min reduction is worth of 5 Au whereas you can get 1-2 Au in average by opening bronze chests
3) Use Au speed up only for long upgrade times (shared by many fellow pilots): Au cost per hour of upgrade time decreases as a function of time. please see the link below for data gathered by a fellow pilot.
Please share here your experience and observations.
good luck and have fun.

I don't think 20 min. reduction for upgrade time is 5 Au. For example, sometimes I see the Au go down by 2 and sometimes none, but rarely 5.

yes, you are right, the same algorithm that is used to calculate the speed up times also applies to the Au cost for the reduction times. 5 Au / 20 min is, however, correct when the clock is under 24 hours. in anyhow, the odds of Au payout from the chests are so small that I feel I better use the free spins on the upgrade speedups.

Yep. Bronze chests are all I ever open. I save keys for free spins anything else goes for upgrades. However, I play enough to make 20 minute reductions pay off. An 8 -12 hour reduction is pretty normal over the course of a day. Most folks don't really have that luxury.

Yeah, I have noticed bronze chests give considerably less au than it gave before the last update...

I spun 16 Bronze this morning and got 7 au ... the rest was Ag & tokens ... the stats of my last 50 openings (one of them is silver chest): 22x various Ag, 16x various tokens, 7x various Au (58 Au worth), 2x pins, 1x gust(silver), 2x boosters.

If you are trying to get the maximum Au to help speed up upgrades, use your 5 free ads to make sure you complete the daily tasks first. It generally takes 6 ads to fully complete the two daily tasks, but sometimes less. That's 10 Au per ad. Some of the tasks can be pretty easy to complete (especially if you play FFA to complete the kills and damage tasks), so depending on how much you play each day it may not take all of your free ads to complete the daily tasks.
Completing the tasks is 60 Au per day (occasionally 70 Au if there is a 40 Au task) or approximately 1,800 Au a month. Use your keys from supply chests to spin bronze chests. For me in Expert II, that's about 5,000 free keys a month (not counting keys from playing). In my experience, that seems to average out to 500 Au to 600 Au a month, for a pessimistic total of 2,300 Au per month (not counting any gold from wins).
The most efficient upgrade to use gold (in terms of time per gold) to speed up is when it is exactly 7 days for 1,000 Au. So every month you can save yourself a minimum of 14 days upgrade time (assuming you are upgrading higher level new economy bots/weapons that have 7 days or greater upgrade times). That's enough to take a new economy bot from level 1 to level 9 in approximately 15 days.

Bronze chests not worth the pain of having to sort thru and sell all the crap they give you. You still get gold from gold chests, just in bigger chunks.

odds of getting gold (800) is so slim(4%). that is in every other 24th opening or so. one would have rewarded 5 times more Au by opening bronze chests, at the expanse of handsome components though. before finally switching to bronze, i opened maybe 15 gold chests, hitting no Au rewards.

I have switched to Bronze chests only and ads against upgrade times. It only takes 72 games to knock off a day (3 x 24). No fuss, no muss, just some game play. All the other stuff mentioned at the beginning work for me as well. Just one more thing... I spin the bronze chests after every game stopping when I hit silver. Conversely, if I hit a 7 or 10 gold, I spin again and keep hit hitting it till silver comes up. Unless you need silver (which I currently do not), stop till the next game.
You can get 100 to 200 gold each day and upgrades reduced significantly with the suggestions in this thread. Have a great day everyone.

I think all problems go away if you play a sufficient amount of time to feed this monster. The idea of not needing silver is foreign to me.

Not needing silver is simply an indication of priorities right now. I am short of gold so speeding up upgrades is more important. I have 489M silver and no way to quickly spend it. That’s all. As you indicate, one can never have too much silver.

The au cost of cutting upgrade time actually increases at times beyond 7 days. E.g. an upgrade of 8, 10 or 14 days costs more au per hour to skip, than precisely 7 days. Below 7 days, the cost per hour increases again. At 24 hrs, something strange happens too (check the chart).

Speed the dailies first, they generally pay out 30-40 gold each task. The speed up option only reduces 20 mins = 5 gold.

I play FFA most of the time. I use the adds to speed the daily "get the beacon" tasks to speed up the gold payouts. Then I use them to reduce the upgrade times... Unless there is close to 30 minutes left on the supply drop. Then I get that. Or I do a bronze chest. Yep I press the blue button all the time for everything.

Because at a conservative minutes per game, played back to back, not counting load or hanger times, that is over 8 hours of play. I have like, a wife and a full time job and stuff...lol, I play this game more than. I should but I'm not sure that I play 72 games in a whole week. "Only" is not a fitting word to describe it. XD

XD At the beginning of this thread, one of the methods to speed up upgrades was to use the ads after the game. I was simply putting a number to that effort. Thank you for pointing out my omission. Cheers
