If anyone has any questions about how to run Carnage in top tier, do hit me up.
I've been running a 5 Carnage hanger for well over a year now, through the era of dash and stealth bots and through the current energy weapon meta. So I think I know a thing or two about how to pilot an "obsolete" bot against superior bots fairly well.

Record a video and show how you play. I use a carnage as well but with dragoons not as a brawler. Would really like to see some rael world footage instaed of these „fully maxed fully boosted“ influencer stuff

Howabout post a pic of our hangar and say what is your favourite/most effective build(s)?

Please make a post of your builds and a summary of how you run them. That's the best way to go. Carnage is a great bot that I never mastered. The Thunder Carnage was the bane of my existence for much of my early days!

I would imagine a lot of tips/tricks would be weapon-specific. I run Dragoons on mine in Android E1; running it with Exodus would be a completely different animal.

I used to hate them, until I got one. I think the most fun build I've used recently is dual Avengers. Definitely have to know which of the reds are using energy weapons and where to find cover in a hurry. Other favorites include Zeus (of course), Trebs, and the classic Thunder (still able to sneak up on people and put the hurt on those reds).

I don't know how to run anything at Expert level (I hope to get there someday) but I remember running a Thunder Carnage.
You really have to use cover. Fortunately Carnage is tall and can peak over many buildings. Also I learned to save those Rushes. They're best used not to rush in but during your attack for the increased mobility.
I hope OP shares what setups he uses.

What will you do if you were trying to chase down a lone target that camp behind cover with a Thunder Carnage. Finally you are almost at point blank, only to find out it's a Gust Stalker and it just turned stealth when you see it and it is already in your Ancile pushing and firing at you?

Seriously, Carnage is way too delicate to go charging in without knowing what you're up against.

I generally save them for certain attacks or when in dangerous situations as an escape tool.

For starters, be grateful it isn't a Gust Pursuer. Then try and find some cover and dodge as many attacks as possible until it runs out of stealth. But Carnage is one of those bots which you shouldn't use to venture into dangerous situations without some sort of plan. And the Thunder Carnage does not work very well in the current meta anyways, so you should be extra careful with it.

With this dedication you should max mk2 all your stuff. Exodus and Dragoon are a pita from that perspective of course.

So lets start with a basic summary of how to run the bots above.
1. Redeemer Carnage: After the recent update, the Redeemers have received a buff and pack some serious punch now. Their rate of fire is still a bit lower than most brawling weapons, so you need to use cover and time your attacks. Staying in the open and trying to trade damage with Taran Kumihos or Haechis would more often than not kill you. But overall, they are a great setup and can really hold their own.
2. Ember Carnage: My Ace at the moment. My strongest/ most versatile bot right now. I have it maxed to level 12 MK1, so they are very strong in my current league. Their rate of fire is not as high as Orkans/Tarans, but they can be used to shoot around corners. Their slow projectile speed can be used to extend their effective range to around 360-370m. I have trouble hitting fast bots like Kumihos and Striders with it, but anything slower than them are toast. Lancelots, Bulgasaris and other big heavy bots are screwed as soon as I get in range.
3. Exodus Carnage: My most recent acquisition. They are only level 8 though, but are already strong enough to kick some serious butt. When leveled up, I'm sure they will take the place of Ember Carnage as the strongest bot in my lineup. Exodus's missiles have a slower firing rate than Orkans, but with the recent Orkan damage nerf, Exodus can put up a serious fight against Orkan Haechis instead of being blown away. I remember clearing an 2 Orkan Haechis and a Bulgasari from my home beacon with this bot. But that was only because those 3 bots were busy reloading while I was coming in fresh. Still, a level 8 Exodus Carnage doing something like that surprised both me and my enemies.
4. Tempest Carnage: Not my strongest bot, but very useful in certain situations. I use this bot as my a finisher of sorts when I'm running low on bots. The Tempests long range allows it to out-range Dragoons/Zeuses, and it's fairly high dps allows it to deal surprising amounts of damage in close range. So using it's range flexibility can really make this bot shine. I remember taking down an Ember-Taran Inquiz in Canyon with this bot on my own once. The clock was running low, and my team had the beacon advantage but a little bit, so when the enemy bot tried to take our middle beacon, I had no choice but to get in close to delay the beacon cap as much as possible. The inquiz was on reloading his tarans when I initiated the attack, so I was able to take a lot of his health down before he started taking mine. I kept the distance between us as low as possible, and moved left and right a lot to make him miss as many shots as possible. In the end, my attack timing and movements gave me enough edge to kill him before he could kill me, and we won.
5. Dragoon Carnage: An absolute monster in mid range combat. And the scary thing is that it is only level 10 right now. I was able to rack up almost 1million damage multiple games with just this single setup. You can shut down entire teams on maps like Springfield provided you get into a really good position.

Other favorites include Zeus (of course), Trebs, and the classic Thunder (still able to sneak up on people and put the hurt on those reds). Avenger is a cheap brawler build & makes this bot usable again. I personally have use this as a Master league ii and have killed Champ league players in it, not even maxed. And as stated above, watch the energy weapon players. I still kill plenty energy users when I have a full clip, skill charged, and charging in when the weapon fully accelerates.

Yup, the Avengers are Beasts, even after the nerf. Mine are lv6, but working on that. If you have a clan mate with a Galahad that you can hook up with it makes for a potent combo, with energy & physical shield it's a 2 player Bulwark with extra firepower.

I’m currently running two carnages in my hanger. One is Mk2 dragoon’s. The other is Mk2 embers. Both maxed. The dragoon build is formidable and was great even before the recent buff. The ember build is a great ambusher, support bot.
i think the secret to using a carnage is being opportunistic. You need to be aware of energy builds that counter you and look for attack opportunities.
I tend to hunt for unsuspecting players who are attacking teammates, getting out of stealth, etc. Avoid attempting to cap beacons unless the situation is advantageous.
The carnage is definitely a bot that requires skill, patience and experience. It has advantages and limitations that make it fun to play. A classics bot from before Pix started selling power.

Made it all the way up to Master League once with this hanger, but got tired of fighting MK2 hangers with my Level 10ish hanger. So I came back down to Expert to face fairer competition until I level up a bit more. Gosh this game is starting to resemble Pokemon more and more.

Anything to say about Thermite Carnage?
|
|
|
Post by TheDecepticonIdeal on Oct 14, 2018 11:49:35 GMT -5
I used to run one very recently. It was actually a lot more useful that I expected it to be. It is great in slow-paced fights like TDM, where it's all about firing from safe positions. It's ability to do whopping amounts of damage per hit is breath-taking, being able to one-hit kill fragile bots.
It's biggest problem is it's inability to deal with fast bots and in fast-paced combat where everyone's moving around all the time. And it's 350m range puts it right next to Tarans and other dangerous weapons. Plus the 3sec target lock-on can screw up fights.
So there's definitely a lot of negatives with Thermite, which makes it unsuitable in most battles.
However, find a target not moving much and you're safely hidden behind a corner, pressing the big red button and watching half your enemies health disappear brings a certain pleasure not found in other weapons. ?
