amount of tokens needed to win any decent amount of comps are ridicilously high. if you are lucky you can get 1500 comps in your 2nd to 4th opening. considering how much rigged at the mment the royale is, your best bet is to open the free one and maybe the next few ones, and repeat this until you produce what you want. that said you can collect tokens via blank market and honor crates. higher you are in leauges better the payout of crates. for example master crate pays 170k tokens, which is a gauranteed 1500 comps in the royale for any meta bot or weapon(from experience). it is about 1100 honor points and you accumulate a total of 370k or so tokens. as to the black market rewards, bronze chests pays 500 or 750 tokens with roughly 25% probability per 10 keys. if you collect 10k keys a month you can make about 150k tokens.

The Silver chest can pay out 5000-7000 Tokens. I get the 5000 at least once a week opening 1 or 2 chests a day.

As stated above, you can get tokens through the bronze and silver (and gold, I think) chests. I generally just use mine to flip the cards that are 2000 tokens or less in the Royale. They give me decent amounts of silver or keys, usually. If you want to go further, it gets much more expensive. Each card flipped costs 2-3x more tokens than the last one. Sample progression: free, 2000, 4000, 8000, 16000, 32000 and so on.
There used to be a decent way to sort of game the system, by opening the first (6, I think?) cards, then paying for the reset and getting the early cards again. The reset is a lot more expensive now, so I'm not sure it's worth it.
On the other hand, you can still get decent components for the things you want, or add a bit to what you are making in your workshop. But, like with any gambling, only play with what you can afford to lose. (If you want, rank the 15 cards by how valuable they are, cut out the first three and assume that each flip will give you the worst of the cards that is left. (ie: you rank the cards from lowest to highest, 1 being the lowest. Exclude 1,2,3. Assume your first flip will give you card 4, the next card 5, and so on.) Sometimes it will surprise you and give you something better, but not often.
If you aren't buying tokens, don't expect to get a ton of stuff out of them, but you can either get small amounts of useful resources (keys and silver) or you can get some extra components for a few targeted things.

Don't buy tokens! It's not worth it. You get them from Battle rewards chests (more reliable) and by opening bronce silver gold key chests (rarely) .

Open Bronze Chest from the Black Market and collect chests from Battle Rewards to get Tokens.
Collect like 600k Tokens and never spin beyond 75k cost.

Also as Pix has massively nerfed the royale payouts (top prize down from 5000 to 1700) you won't even get a full item if you unlock the whole board.
Stick to the workshop and gold crates, that's your best chance of making headway now.

Join a clan... level up...
Takes about 750K to 1 million tokens to cinch something in the royale.
Spending 400K tokens once, and then 400K tokens the next time your desired item comes around is not the same as spending 800K tokens in one sitting.
Usually a good idea (more productive) to reset the royale when the cost of the next flip is higher than the cost to reset the cards.
