Please feel free to post any mythological humor regarding my title. Recently, I spent a bunch of Ag and time to create a pair of Zeusi and have been experimenting with them on various robots. For the hype, they seem underwhelming. On paper, two level five Zeusi look impressive. But, in battle, they don't seem to bring in the numbers that my Thunders do. I try to keep at a good distance, between 500 and 600 meters, and play a good mid-range game but something seems missing. I've watched several videos but they didn't help. They were more about the poster bragging about the size of his e-peen than anything else. Do I need to level them or is the Zeus a lackluster weapon? Can anyone help me out?

Do I need to level them or is the Zeus a lackluster weapon? Can anyone help me out? Level 5 doesn't do much for many weapons that's why there are 12 MKI levels. If you're going up against bots leveled 6 or higher, it will take more than a level 5 to take them down. Zeus isn't a one shot weapon in any case. I have mine at level 9 on a level 9 Raijin and I am pretty happy with the damage inflicted. I'm still going to level them to 12 eventually but it works pretty well against level 9-12 bots and the occasional MKII level 12 but at the same time they can chip away at your health. More power lets you dispatch enemies quicker so you don't lose as much health in the exchange. I've gotten Godlike a few times in D2 with my level 9/9 Raijin. So yeah, it's a good weapon, but you need to level it. Happy hunting.

I haven't played one to be sure but people say that the Dragoon does more damage.
The Zeus is a long range weapon so it will not do the damage of a short range weapon there are few that do. I like mounting them on a Carnage. It is pretty mobile platform that does pretty good damage with a pair of Zeus. Mine are lvl 8 (I think but may be 9) and takes 4-5 shots to down a Griffin in gold league and smaller bots 2-3 shots.
Tactically speaking find some cover that you can do small circles behind. So you pop out, fire, then move back. If I remember these have a 5 second reload and on a Carnage you can get back and forth pretty easy. Otherwise find some cover that just the guns poke out above and enjoy the shield.
If you see something like a Spectre or Kumiho coming the carnage has a sprint ability. Use it to put a teammate or 2 between you and the deathbot. Preferably the guy who is still using artillery 5 minutes into the match. Try firing at it while you run but don't EVER be afraid of using a teammate as a meat shield.
The downside to the carnage is people can see its blue bar and it's a magnet for artillery/hydra type weapons.

Try to get them to at least around 9, if you are silver strapped. Going higher takes relatively much more silver (or used to, haven't checked the new economy numbers), so is of questionable value until everything else is ~9 too.
They work well on Natasha with 2 Geckos. If you don't have 2 Geckos, try Molots. Carnage is great with them too, but I always preferred Gecko Natasha, it's more versatile due to Geckos.

In low levels they are underwhelming indeed. In pairs get them on Carnage or Natasha with Gekkos. Level them a bit. Their potential is released, when you can brake Lancelots shield in 3 shots from Fury.

Zeuses are still pretty powerful. Gotta get them to at least L9 or L10 to really see good results. A pair is good, but 3 is better. If you can only get a pair, run them on a Carnage and grind for a Bulwark.

Thanks for all the feedback. It seems you are all in agreement that I need to level my Zuesi a bit to see good results. Now, I just need to make a pile of Ag...

2 L11 Zeus on a Carnage was one of my favourite bots for a long time ...it loved canyon covering the melee at centre ... Just don't allow anything plasma to close range on you as the carnage is kinda squishy

Run a Zeus Gekko Natasha. It was one of my most effective builds in Diamond and Expert. On the big maps, you can get some early damage with the Gekko and then as the range closes, really pound the Reds at the CB. Canyon is especially awesome. Place your self on the red side of the beacon but far away from brawling bots. This way, you pick off reds that are camping on their side of the structure and force them into the open for your blue brawlers.

Since the world seems to be moving to mid-range energy weapons, I try to put shield bots in that category. Since (Anci)Lancelot has lost some status as a brawler (soooo many Orkans), I had been trying to find another use for it while messing around on the test servers. I tried Dragoon and Scourge....meh. But on the most recent test, I tried Zeus+Ion and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure how it would play out on Live, but on test, it was more than adequate.

If you have 2, a Zeus Carny is a lot of fun. Stick-n-move. 3? Well, a Zeus Fury is a force to be reckoned with. However, if you have a Raijin, the bonus in bastion mode is a B. Depends on your play style.

Been using a L9 Zeus with L8 Sparks on Strider with pretty good results and if all were leveled to 11 it would kick butt.

Zeus are still good weapons... properly leveled. You have to pick your targets and firing locations carefully, true, but 2 properly leveled "Zeusi" can still knock a good chunk of HP off every 5 or 6 seconds. There are drawbacks to every weapon... but they still do the job. On my Android account I still use a Zeus Fury.
To use 2 of them if you don't have a Raijin or a Bully I would assume Carny and Natty are the main options...
If you put them on a Carnage, don't camp. Use your mobility and get into positions that give you cover and good angles. Move when necessary. Don't try and trade shots with anything that can hit you back. On a Natty, it's not too much different than the Carnage except you can't move around as quick and you have a bigger punch with the light weapons. Good and not so Good Options for a Zeus Natty:Gekko + Zeus is an oldie but goodie... both are energy based and leveled up Gekkos aren't to be trifled with without a shield and while in the open. However, they do require an extended time on target that Zeus does not... so quick shots then moving to cover can be less impactful than if you had a bursty light weapon. Molot + Zeus isn't too bad but you have different types of damage (energy and Kinetic) so it's not ideal against ancile shielded targets. They will help bring down a physical shield quicker. BUT, like Gekkos, you need sustained time on target to get the most out of them. Punisher + Zeus is more for those that will be dealing with things below 500m more than they want to... it was actually decent at one time... but now I don't know if I could recommend this... what I liked about it at the time was the ability to have a pretty decent set of Self-Defense weapons. But... there are better options now for that role... Gust + Zeus is better than you would think. They replace my Puns for the SD build since they have such a tight spread now and can put out decent damage all the way out to 500m. They not only do wonders for team play by dropping Anciles... but if anyone gets close they will feel the pain. Mag + Zeus is not one I would run. I won't even comment on them past this. Spiral + Zeus is not very effective... but if you want a flusher this may work: Bug them with Spirals then hit them with lightning when they come out of hiding? I think the next one would work better for that though... Noris + Zeus is a very niche build. Most folk will stop reading after the first word. I have found Noris to be VERY good at sub 600m for both flushing out and doing decent damage. The flight time for Noris at that range is really very small, especially below 500m... and that has a profound effect. Part of what makes them hard to use is leading targets... if they travel to the spot in less than a second then the lead is much less. Also, GREAT anti-Ancile weapons. I wouldn't recommend them as a must have... but this is a build that I had good fun and results with... but it really takes knowing your bot and weapons to a great degree to do well with it, and it's not going to continue to work well if you climb leagues. Pins + Zeus is another one that I would not run... the ranges are close but Pins are too underwhelming for me. Pinatas + Zeus... no.
Shredders + Zeus is one I assume would work well if only because you can glue em down then let em ride the lightning. But, without trying them on this build I can't say much.

Lock on before you move out of cover and engage your target.
Before you even fire you should already be circling the other way.
It takes a full second to inflict complete damage. You can abuse the lock on feature to hit targets your recticule is not even near.
I was a big fan of Carny Zeus since it was safe from Hydra, but at higher levels Fury can inflict the immediate pain required to change games.
I also recommend it over Dragoon Fury if you can deal with the lockon because your exposure time is miniscule in comparison.
