Hey folks, as most of you know this forum is part of the Pixonic Insiders program, meaning that we get to have the occasional dialogue with the minds behind the game. We on the admin team have been looking for ways to keep everyone in the loop as best we can. We have a great, generally positive, and helpful community here. The idea is, this isn't a "perk" for the "powers that be," but something we are excited to be a part of on the community's behalf. Towards that end, I'd like to give everyone the chance to let us know what questions are on your mind. A few things to note, though. 1. I'd like to introduce these into the dialogue as I can. Our primary contact has a lot more on their plate than just community manager, so depending on volume and other unforeseeable factors, it may take some time to get an answer. 2. Pixo has this channel open as a good-faith effort to keep the community engaged and in the loop. That doesn't mean they'll answer everything. Questions like "what exact date will the Protolot go live?" or, "what is the precise algorithm behind the matchmaker" are (understandably) not likely to get a clear answer- or any answer. 3. Questions which are abrasive or abusive, or are statements masquerading as questions, will go straight into the circular file. If your question is, "hey Pixo, why is your game such a horrible cash grab?", I'll invite you to instead start a thread over here. This isn't a one-time thing. Feel free to add to this thread as things pop into your mind. --- EDIT: ALso, I'm going to start actively curating any information we get from Pixo. Previously, we've posted them under Developer News, and let folks discuss the topic ( example). Being able to converse about new information and see the reactions and insight of the community is an integral benefit to a message board, but it can also make information hard to find. This won't change. But towards that end, we'll also be collecting the information monthly in a sticky, locked thread for easy reference ( example). Hope it helps!

Awesome opportunity, thanks Dredd77 and the forum operators as a whole! The question I have had since the MM changes that I cannot puzzle out is this: Once a pilot advances in the game beyond the beginner stages, it appears that the pilot must give up driving Golems, Boas, Rogatas, etc, in order to remain competitive. However, these are inherently fun mechs to drive. Would like to know if there is anything in the works that would allow us to climb out of our Griffins/Lances/Galahads every so often and drive the Mediums again (without being a liability to our team). I have seen them mention leagues, casual play mode, etc, but all of that sounded as though it was not really imminent. Thanks.

Exactly. There are bots that are extinct now, (Destrier, Cossack, Schlutze, Golem, Vityaz and Rogetha). This is primarily due to the matchmaking shift and midrange splash as well, because 1 salvo from a Russian Griffin and Trident Fury takes off 3/4 of their health.
I have a question about leagues: Is the league system hangar based or elo based? For example, silver league could be bot/weapon level 5-8 as a hangar based league, and an elo based league would be players that have a rating from 1400-1600.

My questions are follow-ups on @heavypanda 's inquiry:
* Why does a Rogatha cost 2500 gold when it is almost immediately made obsolete by the arrival of heavy bots * How do I get my gold back since they've made it worthless?
There may be an element of jest here, but it is very limited.

I would like to know Pixonic better: How are new ideas for the game generated, how do you select what to develop and afterwards what will truly go life. How much influence have the developers in this process? Some words about the developers.
In short: who are you and how do you do what you do? Thanks.

I'm worried about over-leveling bots and weapons for the upcoming League Play.
In League play will bots/weapons that are over the max allowed level be allowed, but temporarily weakened to fit the match rules. i.e. a level 12 Orkan performing like a lvl 6 during the match.

How has being bought by Mail.ru affected their process? Can they hire more people to develop more things faster or is Mail.ru's role more about advertising/spreading-the-word?

Gosh, I have a wishlist of a thousand features I would love for them to add into this game, but knowing that probably isn't feasible, I'm not sure what to ask. I second Heishiro on providing the updated specs on bots/weapons once they adjust them. I discovered the wikia page didn't have the most up-to-date specs on the Gareth some time ago, but I only have one at lvl 6, I can't tell what the specs are at other levels. I use the wikia to determine if I want a certain bot/weapon now or later, cuz my constant question is "where will I invest my time & resources?"
related to that, whats the next thing they are about to buff so i can get it ready? ;-)
And, for some reason I am unable to download the test server, i've tried on multiple occasions and i always get no where, should i private message the test server facebook page, or should I just accept it doesn't work on my model of phone?

The advertised speed of the Wild Bunch bots doesn't appear to be legit. A level 9 Jesse with a top speed of 64 km/h should not get outrun by a level 5 Stalker running 58 km/h. Similarly, a level 7 Doc running 48 km/h runs neck and neck with 32 km/h heavies. What gives?

What are the exact requirements for earning silver, broken down, in a match?
For example... I know beacon capture is 5k... or near that. What actually goes into the amount you win? Are there more elements than damage given and beacons? If so... What? And what are the percentages?
Thanks!

My stuff upgrades at the same rate as everyone else's but I choose to play during the time it upgrades. Because I play frequently my ELO builds fast and I wind up in matches that I truely have no business playing. I will build over the course of a day or two then wind up against opposition that can make me mech out in less than 5 minutes even though I am actually trying and using techniques like corner shooting. I spend a day getting my butt handed to me on a silver platter with a side of gravy and I plunge through the rankings until I'm basically seal clubbing. It usually takes about 20-30 matches before the MM gives me fair competition (I don't mean same level bots I mean I can be anywhere from first to last on any given match but over half the time I'm 3rd,4th, or just edge or get edged out for a close 2nd or 5th). After I get fair competition my ELO starts building to start the loop over again. So my question is: Are there any plans other than "the MM will work itself out in time" to stop active players from yo-yoing up and down the league system?

Can you guys track total damage produced with each bot for an individual player? Be nice to see the top bots I do the most damage with.

Dredd77 , is this thread limited to questions only or can we also provide suggestions? I would like to suggest a "Legacy Mode" which enables the old MM, and no bot penalties for WSP or Au bots. ... or maybe just release a legacy version of War Robots app. Honestly, I would rather start over than play against max bots all the time.

Could you please add more stats to player profiles? I'm interested in:
* Win % for each map * Number of match abandonments in last 50 games * Amount of earned silver and gold in last 50 games * Amount of damage dealt and damage taken in last 50 games * Amount of beacons taken in last 50 games * A graph of Elo score for last 50 games (without numbers, just visual)

Would like a kill/death though.

Can they explain how they think the new league system is going to divide up players and if it will mean that light / medium bots will become useful / playable again.

I have recently sent several questions to Pixonic that weren't answered. Here are copies of the ones that I feel strongly about. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, some concerns, I would appreciate it if you would pass this to the developers... Assuming the matchmaking dust settles, so that we 7/7ish hangars won't see 12/12 hangars anymore. Leagues are announced, of course. But I still see 3 major weaknesses in matchmaking, none of which will be fixed by the league system (according to everything we know through the forum). (1) Frustration levels will still be high. Two reasons: If I run a 7/7 hangar then I don't mind getting beat by another player with a 7/7 hangar that plays well, or even a player with an 8/8 hangar. But it absolutely sucks to get beat by a bad 10/10 player that wins only because he has better weapons. Even more important is that my teammates in random games are now those stupid 10/10 players. If you play with guys who open with a Natasha with a KWK, a Thunder, a Gekko and a Pinata and have never heard about beacon capping, then you're in for a world of frustration. The problem is probably that the matchmaking makes no difference between a good 7/7 player and a bad 10/10 player, but it really should try to put those good 7/7 players in one battle and the bad 10/10 players in another battle, if the player pool allows for that. It appears you already use a hangar score, so this should be easily doable. (2) 60% of all robots are now useless. (You can argue that AG mediums still have value, but I don't see any of them on the battlefield anymore.) I don't like it, because (a) I really miss the fast paced low silver battles of the past, using no heavies, WSP bots or Britbots, and (b) it reduces the variety of the game. If 80% of the robots are Griffins, Leos and Natashas (on lower leves) or DB Griffs, Galahads and Trident Furys (on higher levels) then it makes for less interesting games. One possible fix here is to introduce "robot classes", like the old tiers, but officially. Say class 1 would be AG light bots, class 2 are AG medium bots and Gepard, class 3 are Stalker/Gareth/Carnage/Fujin/Rogatka, class 4 are Galahad and AG heavies, class 5 are the remaining robots. (Subject to discussion of course, and I might have missed a robot.) Highest robot in hangar determines the class, within a class the usual matchmaking applies. Rubberbanding might occur over classes occasionally, though. A decent hangar score should respect these classes (like the old MM did), so if you mix a class 1 robot (say Cossack) with class 3 robots, then the class 1 robot should be allowed to have higher levels, maybe 1 level per class to keep it easy. (Is it fair to match a 7/7 Cossack with a 5/5 Fujin or Gareth? Maybe we need even more than 1 level per class. Maybe not.) (3) We absolutely need the ability to squad with teammates at a lower or higher levels. That could be fixed by the robot class system, or matchmaking adjustments, or whatever, but the fundamental ability to "strip down" to a common level of clanmates must be restored. Some other issues. I would like to see an option for matchmaking: Allow the system to wait longer in order to find better opponents. For a random battle you are usually matched within 10-12 seconds, and it appears that the system will almost always wait that long in order to have a better player distribution over matches (compared to greedy filling of matches whenever one suitable squad is available). Why not allow the user to increase this voluntarily to 30 seconds (or 60 seconds for squads), to allow the matchmaking more time to find equal opponents? Another thought: The complaints about "pay to win". (Sometimes you observe correctly, but sometimes you percieve something that just isn't there.) Many players complain about the lack of gold. We get 14 gold per match, so the average income should be something like 1.2 gold per match. I wonder if the income of the players that complain about it is really much lower than that, or if they just complain because they used to get much more in the past? I would love to see some additional stats in the player page, like average gold earned and average beacons capped, and also a record of the last 10 (and maybe last 200) games and not only the last 50. That would give us a good idea about players that tank (40% winrate in last 200 games but 90% in last 50), and it would also settle the question of gold income. It would also show if hangars running mostly beacon cappers have a gold advantage over heavy hangars or not. Best, F. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, with all the improvements you did recently, I was wondering if we could have some minor improvements that all should be fairly easy to implement... (1) New players ALWAYS get it wrong as far as the dominance bar is concerned. 9 out of 10 read the hint at the start of the game as "most beacons in the end wins", so many new players sit back and don't go for beacons. Maybe extend the tutorial, or create a new task to cap X beacons (like the "upgrade robot" when you start a game)? (2) Please, do add some sorting to robot storage and weapons. I don't really care how, as long as it's consistent. An easy way would be robot type/weapon type and then by level. (3) As for statistics, I'd prefer battles played instead of that trophy counting. And please add beacons capped on average and maybe average damage rank from last battles. You ask for number of weekly battles on the test server application - I honestly haven't the faintest idea. I have 845 victories, and started playing on December 19th, 2016. So about 140 victories a week. Please please add me to the test server group? :-) (4) I'd LOVE to have that new Elo score visible and public, and guilds could be ranked by the average Elo score or total Elo score. Much better indicator than trophies. Mind you, some players would give their left hand to be #1 or top 100 or whatever in that category. If you award prices (say 50 gold for reaching top 10.000 for the first time, 100 gold for top 1000, 200 for top 200 and so on) that would be another incentive. (5) I'd prefer to have additional player levels. It just gives an indication of how experienced a player really is. If you are concerned about gold, scrap the gold bonus for advancing a level. (6) Never, ever give any reward (coins, silver, gold) to people who drop out of a battle before their last robot is gone. Players who are inactive (no input of any kind) for something like 50% of the battle should also not receive any reward. Beat those guys trying to get easy 2 coins by playing for a minute and then ejecting. (7) It would be great to be able to select the language of the game. Even though my native language is german and my phone is german, I would prefer to play war robots in english. This has two reasons: (a) My clan is english speaking, and it makes communication much easier if the app is in the same language. (b) The german translation is at times spotty. Simple example: "Zug" is a head scratcher because the normal meaning is "train" or "turn", but it's rather obscure for "squad". A much better translation would be "team" (which is used a lot in Germany) or "Gruppe". (8) Many advanced players would probably pay for the ability to queue an upgrade after the current one. Just sell this feature for 5 bucks, instant revenue (9) Show which robots the other team members have spawned when you choose your first robot. Thus you could avoid to spawn a beacon capper if there are already 4 other in the game. Best, F.

As seen on one of Stew's videos, and was posted on another thread, are you aware of the Aphid launch bug? Where it explodes a single salvo on launch? It happens many times, I'd say 1 in 7 or 10. Will a fix make it by 2.6? ??

First: Will there be any effort to match players against others of roughly equal equipment? I think most of us are fine with an elo system but WITHIN tiers /classes. This would also solve the clan squading issue.
Second: When can we expect some improvements? We have (not so patiently) waited and played the game as asked for over a month. Most of us have done so enduring the crushing matches against far higher level opponents without tanking to get fairer match ups. I think for many of us our patience is quickly running out.
Third: AFTER MM is perfected. Which of the new game modes listed by Pixonic do they plan on implementing and when? Some will present different tactical situations and perhaps some new additions to the hanger. It would be nice to plan ahead.
Fourth: Could we please see some more of that transparency they mentioned? More info about how the game system we are playing works and how it is going to be changed would prevent frustation, wild conjecture, and poor choices based on mistaken assumptions. It would also massively improve the dev / player relationship.

Leaving out the obvious question of Match Maker transparency aside...
On the technical side, I'd love to know if War Robots is ever planning on integrating support for controllers. The game really screams for a more intuitive method of control than the touchscreen.
On the design side, I'm curious as to Pixonic's view of player progression in the game starting from L1 through the Top Tier. With the abolition of hard tiers there are now no intermediate goals for players to achieve as measurable progress indicators. Given that you're talking about roughly a year of player interaction to achieve TT while the level system really is only useful for a month or two, what is the plan for stimulating the player's desire to see themselves progress up a skill ladder?

The other evening I played and when I went to the page for (whatever it is, not silver or gold) it came up Russian. It showed that I could buy 999 of these (whatever they are) for 100 gold. I attempted to buy and it immediately changed to a English at a much, much lower rate. Anyone else see this?

If you are in a clan, wait until the clan chat icon and the Clan Members page appears. Then you should not see that when you go to the workshop. If you are not in a clan and it has been several hours since your last log in, wait until you see the notification next to the workshop icon, the little red number, then when you go in, it should be whatever your local language is.

Finally decided I have a question for Pixonic, concerning buttons:
First, the movement button- can we get an option to move it just a little further up and to the right? trying to move backwards or to the left is a challenge when your finger slips slightly too far and off the screen. and then BAM! you're dead because the button is too close to the edge of your screen.
Second, the fire button- could we make the buttons for individual weapons a little bigger so using only one a time will be a little easier? Also related to this, when i try to fire one weapon, and then stop firing that so i can fire another, i have to literally stop touching the screen for about 2 seconds before it un-selects the first weapon, what would happen if we reduce that time? Also making this button a little more see-through and moving more towards the center might be a good idea, has this been looked into before?
lastly, why can't I go back into a match if i get disconnected mid-battle? i'd like to be able to sign back in and get back into that match and start kicking 「bum-bum」, but I don't know if that would create another problem (like if you mech out you would be able to sign-out & back in but your bots are back to full health, something?). Making this work could also help screw people over that are trying to 'tank' their games to adjust their ELO, right now you can start a game, leave it, and start another one in less than 2 mins each time, if they had to wait 10 minutes between each game to tank, they'd most definitely stop doing it.
Cheers,
