Hi all,
I have just dropped from diamond 2 to diamond 3 after a succession of incredibly one sided matches against much more powerful opponents.
Its like the beacon rush event brought all the hard cases out of retirement! The number of mk2 lvl 12s I have come up against has dramatically increased.
Anyway, i'm not happy, and feel somehow like my own skill has been rendered irrelevant to my league standing. Has anyone else found the going suddenly much tougher over the last couple of days?

to bad your not a tanker you would be Ecsatic to drop a league. Yeah, I don't tank. Although, considering I was closing in on diamond 1 less than a week ago you'd be forgiven for thinking I do! The impotent rage of being melted by a taran bulg in my best lance bot is a real blood pressure spiker. Maybe the MM just threw in higher leagues this weekend for the BR queue.

Are we even playing the same game (War Robots)?

Hehee. Yes, I get that feeling often. The match is decided by MM, enforced by setting sides. It does suck some fun out of the game indeed. And its purpose is to make you spend money, so you can end your losing streak. Look at all those shiny Dash bots, obliterating you with Shocktrains. Just for about a thousand $$$, you can buy the components for a bot and the weapons, and enough Au to upgrade them to Mk2-12. Then the pain will end! Except it doesn't, not for long, until you have full hangar of latest Mk2-12 gear, and play in a clan which does 6 player squads. The reason I find this exceptionally frustrating is this: I just love the games which swing around at late stages. If I could trust the MM to create even teams, I'd love to fight when our side is losing, to try to swing it around. But most of the time, the sides aren't even, and if we are losing bad, it means the other side is much more powerful, and there's no chance. The best I can hope for, is being the last pilot against 6 reds, desperately trying to flip one more beacon or kill one more of them, before they get me. So I gotta ask myself, why even try? If game looks bad, just go out in blaze of glory ASAP, and get to a new game, never knowing for sure how that game ended, as it's better to not know. It's a sad state of affairs.

HOWEVER I have just won 4 (and counting) in a row, got myself to within 14 points of d2 again. Not spent a penny, honest! Funny old world innit. I must have slipped through the cracks. I'm sure the MM will remember to smack me down again soon enough though.

I'm sure the MM will remember to smack me down again soon enough though. Oh, no worries. It's likely (not guaranteed), that if you play decently, MM will carry you to 60% win rate or so, before the smackdown kicks in again. Unless you just got lucky, you will very likely get back to D2 again shortly. I mean, this player manipulation strategy requires two levels of player enjoyment. You'd get used to mostly losing. You'd get used to mostly winning. When you are used to current state of affairs, only boredom is likely to get you to spend, and it is as likely to make you just stop playing. The ups and the downs are required, and you are pretty much guaranteed to have both. I don't even think paying something will directly affect his, just if you pay enough you may get temporarily enough power, that you can successflly fight your way through the smackdown. And above is pure speculation, not knowledge.
