Hey guys. Still relatively new to the game, but I have a serious question; having already spent money on some weapons and boots that seem to have made no difference in how many poundings I take no matter the game type, how much does one have to spend to actually be competitive in this game?

10 bucks (USD) should do it? I'm in champ league, absolutely KILLING the game with a full hangar of lvl 12 mk2 punisher cossacks. The trick is simply using superior skills, tactics, and morals in combat. Anyone who says you can't be number one in the legend league with a full hangar of (properly uprgraded!) Thunder Schutzes is an ignoramus with rheumatic thumBS who has never read even the kindle description of Caesar's De Bello Gallico. War Robots isn't pay to win...it's 42 dimensional chess that peers into your heart and offers back entertainment befitting your station in life. Triggered? $top being poor and learn to pilot a bot like a real alpha. Seriously sheeple, educate yourselves! With proper conditioning, prayer, and a lot of hard work, you can take a hangar of seemingly humble Destriers to the tippy top! But don't take my word for it, visit your local library

Well my hangar is worth over $2000 to buy outright... that's without a single upgrade. I am f2p and ground it all out. My advice. Learn the game first. Those 「bum-bum」 kickings will teach you a lot. Don't focus on winning, focus on playing better. Once you've ground for a few months you'll know what you want and how to get bang for your buck. Anyone can get an awesome hangar. But patience and tactics is what really sets you apart on the battle field.

Not dying in six seconds with every single bot. I mean, I have some Leo's with lots of HP that just get shredded the second I try to line up a shot on someone. Good example, I just got hammered out of three BR games in row in almost less time than it takes to tell it. Another guy in the thread said it's not pay to win, but I dunno. Kinda feels like it. I don't have hours and hours to dedicate. So I suppose it might not be for me. This game is not casual gamer friendly, and that's fine. Just kinda feel like I wanted money, that's all. Should have read the reviews I guess.

Should have read the reviews I guess. There's not much you can do, and that's especially true for newer players. It is the matchmaking system that is to blame. When you fight other players, said system doesn't take bot/weapon levels into account; only league ranking. That is why it's possible to encounter maxed out hangars in private league, or any other league they don't belong. That is why the idea of having a balanced match in this game is preposterous (bar Champion league).

Before the League System, I spend small amount of money because I like it and fun. Now, this game is a total crap.

I don't have hours and hours to dedicate. So I suppose it might not be for me. This game is not casual gamer friendly, and that's fine. Just kinda feel like I wanted money, that's all. Should have read the reviews I guess. As has been said, the matchmaking algorithm does not prevent you from meeting much stronger opponents who intentionally lowered their rating to fall to your league, "tankers". However there are some hits to avoid it. Most frequently, tankers run Dash bots (Kumiho, Haechi, Bulgasari) to reach its prey fast. No one else in Recruit, Bronze, Silver or Gold league will use them. So if you see a red from a distance that is quickly dashing around (especially Haechi with blue Ancile bar), run away, choose the other part of the battlefield and keep ideally 500-600 m distance from him (they're mostly using Orkans - 300 m range). Most probably you'll lose that game anyway as the superiority of Mk2 lvl 12 Dash bots will result in either losing beacons or team mates, but you'll have a chance for some minutes of a fair fight with even opponents. Similar to any other bot that kills you in a second and walks away barely scratched. Remember the pilot's name (can be seen on the "who's killed who" bar) and avoid any other bot of this pilot, you can expect similar strength. Later, you'll find some setups that can hunt them from distance if they are too self assured of their invincibility - Zeus, Trebuchet, Gekko are pretty annoying to Kumiho and Haechi. Homing missiles (Hydra, Spiral) can hunt down Bulgasari. Surprisingly your basic guns can be pretty effective or at least annoying to Haechis. I've been building an alternative squadding hangar lately and found out that Griffin armed with Punishers (shooting close to the 500 m range) or Molots (500-700 m) can deplete Haechi Ancile. If you're succesful, Haechi will be more vulnerable and your team mates brawling against him will have better chances. In any case, it makes them mad that a rookie dares to harass them and often start to hunt you, exposing to your team mates. That's why it's important to have Griffin - in case of emergency, you jump backwards behind a cover or to an elevated ground harder to reach by dashing. Last recommendation - if you're unsure whether you like the game or not, do not pay a penny. First, it might be a lost investment soon. Second, you're falling into developer trap - tankers in lower leagues are not there for nothing. By smashing your head, you're provoked into huge spending...only to find that building a maxed really good hangar costs thousands of USD.

Don't ... it's a bottomless pit that is OK if you have very deep pockets
but you will not spend your way out of your situation ...

Did I not mention the need for morality and prayer in a pilots' life? Here's a prime example. Yesterday, that whole hangar was punisher cossacks. Scout's honor. After thoroughly washing my hands and getting the proper permits from the city, I simply sacrificed a healthy bull on a homemade altar of nice dry hardwood which I then set ablaze, allowing the rich smoke drift up to the Gods in Heaven. Then I implored Zeus in prayer to help me vanquish my enemies, for am I not pure of heart? Was not my sacrifice pleasing to your sight, Great Lord of Olympus? Stuff like that. And then I come to wake up, see your post of my hangar...what a wonderful surprise! I want to say here that I think the Strider was an especially divine touch. Thank you, oh Zeus! It's not magic, it's an actual scientifically documented miracle. Follow this one weird trick, doctors hate me!

To get the latest op stuff for a guaranteed fair 1v1 whitin a reasonable time (a month or two) its thousands of dollars + hundreds of hours playtime. If u run solo and face a squad, its unfair no matter how much u put in.
My advice is either dont spend a cent or move on to another game.

OP, I've been playing over two years. I have had several accounts on android, and one on Amazon. I am and have always been f2p. I have been in Champion, was in the top clan, etc. War Robots is not the game i started playing. Imo, the best way to enjoy it now is to keep everything lvl 6 and stay in silver and gold leagues. You'll still get a whoopin'now and then, but overall it's the closest to the old game. Fewer dash bots, shocktrains, etc.

It also takes some skill to be "competitive" at this game. I've seen pilots with all Mk2, DIESS (Dash, Inquisitor, Spectre, Shocktrain, etc.) hangars who put up what I consider to be sub-par stats. All the money in the world can't buy situational awareness, a grasp of the finer points of the ambush or use of cover, and trapping opponents in crossfire.
I know pilots who run old-school hangars, with not a dash bot in sight, who can still open a can of whoop-「bum-bum」 on an unskilled big spender.
