I used to be completely addicted to War Robots, almost unhealthily so. I achieved 900 cups a week, I measured the days by my upgrade logs. I eagerly read Pixo's update logs and I scrammed onto Valley like an eager dog and loved it. I used to feel this fantastic satisfaction when I snuck up on some poor fool with my favorite thunder carny and took him out in a matter of seconds. I remember how jubilant I felt when I first hit one million, and how much I looked forward to squads with my clan. Every now and then, I try to go back and play it again, and granted, maybe a fourth or so of the games will be decently fun, but a majority of games being club-fests is too much. Now, maybe I sound a bit melodramatic, but that game in its heyday checked every single box for me like no other game probably will, from aesthetics to gameplay to balance of f2p and p2w. I genuinely feel kind of sad whenever I think that I'll probably never enjoy a game as much as I did War Robots before K-Bots came out and everything turned to garbage. Does anyone else ever feel the same way?

Oh yes, definitely. K-Bots were still fine, it's the ever-releasing of ridiculous weapons and bots AND COMPONENTS. LOL JOKE.

I only started playing a couple months before the k-bots and yeah it's a challenge. I accepted I cannot keep up and if I get clubbed I just move on to the next game.

Yes.
I used to love the game and it was great for bonding with my son. He's since quit and asked me why I'm still playing despite the game being obviously P2W. The truth is, I wanted to get into Champ league with my non component-costing hangar.
Got in and about a week later, I pretty much stopped playing; hence my inactivity here. Now I hear Ion, arbalest, Sphincter (Specter?) and it's all Greek to me.

This game best described as a fool's paradise .
left this game a year back after playing for 1.5 years, glad that I made a wise decision as now its all about flashy toys the money can buy.. not to mention the amount of time wasted in upgrading one's (soo called ) techniques and skills LoL !

Its really only turned to crap at the top. I highly recommend starting fresh and staying low. Most anyone who feels like the OP has been playing for a while. You've already proven yourself, for what that's worth. The frustration comes from chasing the carrot and never getting it apart from huge lumps sums of cash. Even then, the shiny new toys are obsolete in 3 updates, and the cycle repeats.
Start fresh and stay low, or just run what you LIKE, instead of what you think will keep you competitive in this ST hell that War Robots has become. Screw league ranking.

I remember too. So sad how it became what it is now. But I’ll still push on, upgrading weapons and bots, play match after match. At least, when the game goes down....I’ll go down fighting...

Back when the game was WALKING War Robots, the most of our worries were mag-geps. Those mag-geps have turned into a plethora of OP builds.
How I crave those days like nothing else.

I found War Robots before the Britbot invasion. Much more fun way back then.

It was always a race to the top to keep competitive. It is not though inflated prices K-bots that have pushed it over the edge, it is mkII and in second place speed at which new content is being released which came on top of a long slow decline in silver earnings.
To stay competitive now in champions you need to have mkII as much as you can. It took me a couple of years to finally get to full level 12 hangar with griff ancilot and a fury. If they just released K-bots it would be ok, but to add mkII and keep throwing out crazy new bots means it is about a 500 million to a BILLiON silver I need to grind to get back to the level playing field I used to be on.
Think about the people who are running multiple Spectre ST mkII hangars - that is literally thousands of dollars and they are years ahead of current competitive champions

I know how you feel. Remember the times when you accidentally pressed the red button, and your whole SURA-F Pinata volley goes off? And when there was a player of the hour system? I think that these moments felt like the genuine War Robots, no complicated weapons or bots, just pure simplicity. When I read (or more often, use) the full name of a weapon, such as EWW-Trebuchet, I feel a breeze of melancholy that makes me miss the old weapon design of the Tulumbass or the Pinata. Heck, I even miss the MagGeps. Now, the game has turned into something weird and... alien. Just look at the GEKKO XX or the Scourge.
I still keep my original Destrier, the bot that was with me when I was making my very first steps on Springfield, in my hangar. I have grown rather fond of it, especially since I ran SM Noricums on it. And I thought that I was being effective. Good old days... I'm kind of considering "retiring" from War Robots, mainly because that it changed so much, but I still see the hope of a campaign storymode being added so I'll passively stick around to see if something changes, or the game devs will keep being pricks.
