Right now I'm using one gepard charge in do damage maybe take a beacon then charge enemy to die. Then leave battle as this seems to get my rating and damage down fast. Also it seems that the rating system resets about every hour. So results may not be right away. Saddens me I have to play this way to get something resembling old mm silver tier. So I started this thread to help others out tank games since it's needed by alot of players now with new mm system. I'm not sure if my way is the best way since I've nvr been forced to tank games before. So if you have a better way plez let me know.

I thought this would be about Boas and Leos.
Don't tank games. The MM is never going to be right if you are trying to game the system.

I don't understand losing intentionally just to face weaker competition down the road.
I mean, why not just try to win right now and see what happens? Either you lose and "successfully" tank your rating, or maybe you surprise yourself and win against someone who actually had a chance!
Seriously, what am I missing that makes tanking desirable to anyone?

I was winning problem was it's boring gameplay. Beating botz lvl 10 or higher isn't impossible with lvl 3 gepards. But you have to adjust your gameplay to a more boring one.

Less boring to seal club lesser bots? I have been anything but bored in the games I have played. Disheartened at the lack of reward - sure. Bored - no.

Um this current mm is nvr going to be right as long as you reward people that play bad and punish people that play well. Current MM was designed to hurt people that farmed gold, not for any other reason. Pixonic new owners have shown their greedata by installing new mm. And even if it balances out .....which will nvr happen. It will hurt all players in long run even in TT.

The best, fairest and fastest way to tank is delete your account and start over again.
You lose anything you invested but with the knowledge you have, you can rebuild a lot faster. Plus you won't bother anyone else with your choice.
To intentionally tank your account by leaving matches the way you are describing is just crap - play the game thru. Put in the hanger you want to play and just run the matches....grow a pair and take the beatings if you want to play at that lower level.

@op - last I checked, discussions on "gaming" the system is bannable on this forum And as noted above, your 'strategy' is not helping anyone including yourself. Check your Ag balance when you do that. Game is probably deducting 'repair charge' when you leave mid-game.

Oh my but that is sad. Why not put all that effort into building a better hangar and learning to adjust your game play? Yes, you no longer will dominate the battlefield with geps but what you're doing isn't sustainable in the end. I assume with all the farming/clubbing you've done you've probably amassed quite a bit of silver and gold. Maybe it's time to build a TT hangar?

Lol, I tried that I was facing lvl 8 and higher botz withave my lvl 2...seal clubbing was worse at lower lvls than ever b4. Friend of mine tried game for first time and I started new with him. Because that's the only way to help new friends play now. Needless to say he was turned off game said gameplay wasn't bad but seemed too pay to win now, after I told him how long it would take to get a TT hanger. Think this new mm is going to hurt alot of kids that can't afford pay to win.

I actually decided I was getting tired of dodging and hiding around walls, and have been using a punisher Leo to barrel straight into reds at the beginning of matches.

Sealclubbing is not caused by gepard players,it's caused by lack of information players get in game on how to balance their hangers and robot lvls. And pixonic won't be changing this it seems cause they don't mind new players wasting their gold. Like alot of others I learnt how to play from sealclubbers, built a hanger, went to silver because I don't like sealclubbers myself. Just want to get in a area in game were gameplay lvl is fairer and can play on a more even playing field.

This is a much more interesting subject, can we talk about this instead? What do you use on heavy hardpoint? And what levels are they? Could be a good diversion while rest of blues go the other way to flank.

50/50 win rate does not put you in a fair bracket as it seems there are alot of TT players with 50% win rate for some reason. I'm just adjusting the same way pixonic has by tanking the game. When pixonic gives you lemons make lemonade.

I have done it with Boas in Shenzhen. (Old hanger a long time ago). Just charge forward, take beacon and depending on the situation at that point - either retreat or take the far beacon.
Abort if a blue light bot goes for the beacon before you can get there (support if possible).
Best to do it absolutely first thing in the game before all the reds reach positions.
4 out of 5 times you would take out a cossack or gepard that got the same idea from the other side.

moody yeah, that used to be my go to move too in old silver tier with my 6/8 TT boa. With the HP buff to Leo tho, I'm finding they take A LOT of beating to take down. Two Leos kamikaze charging into red spawn to take out high priority targets (trident fury for eg) sounds like an interesting tactic. Wonder what would be best setup for it.

Sounds like you're just sad that you cant hold down the red button with Mags and win damage races vs every other bot you shouldn't have been able to do that against in the first place. Light units aren't supposed to be brawlers, and they never were. The closest thing I can compare War Robots to is Team Fortress 2, every weight class and load out has a role, and most of them can run off and get a bunch of kills, but, play blindly and charge in, and you die. Run a scout at a Heavy and a Pyro head on, you die. Stay a sniper all game, you lose. Whole team is big and slow, you lose. W+M1, you die. Not all Geps are clubbers, but 90% of Gep pilots I've encountered in thr past year have been W+M1 players. The system let them be, and let them think that it was fair, now it isn't, and forever and a day, it shouldn't have ever been.

It's boring to be actually challenged by people you can't bash over the head?!?!
Tanking is for 「kitty cats」. Sack up and play. No one here is going to shed a tear for your 'struggles'.
「fluffernutter」 off.

Let's hope that league play puts an end to this. Higher rewards for higher levels is really the only solution against tanking.

Yes, it's not great the way you get low level teammates and that you get rewarded for having high win rate by getting weak teammates (or so it seems every time I pass the 70% mark in wins), but I can't say it isn't challenging. I will say I play less because of the unpredictable MM. If I got just level 10 and up hangars on both sides, I'd play more.

Rating system sets you into a different bracket once every 5 games if you drop in league points sufficiently within those 5 games, it's not every hour. Don't do anything and quit when the clock reaches 9:30 if you wish to tank. If you have no moral objections to doing this, tank away!

We are discussing squad tactics at the moment, that will allow us to win against enemies with superior gear. That will be challenging!!! I guess main issue is that even being smart and innovative is not going to take you far. Once you come up with a solution to your current set of opponents you'll be placed against ones with yet better gear or same superior gear as earlier, just more skill than ones you learned to manage. That is the a flaw in the very concept of the current mm (if its pure Elo). The idea itself is imo wrong and instead of promoting your skills puts you in a position where you need to invest faster than you could grind in order to maintain decent win rate; "gear above skills". Small correction here - it is flawed from gamer perspective but silently turns the game into a cash machine for developers, being a more elaborate, subtle transition to PFW game situation. As much as I like competitive environment, this is where I draw the line between getting a challenge and being put in position of inevitable overall loss by intrinsic mechanics of the play. In short: MM in the current concept will eventually lead you to having equal rate of wins and loses, regardless how hard you try and perform...or how bad. Player community is being minced into a smooth, gray pulp. In such cases deliberate loss, quitting and other means of driving the Elo rating down to have few balanced games instead will become a common practice.

Actually, that's only true for players below 12/12 levels, and close to that. A player with a 10/10 hangar will only face 12/12 hangars (21% stronger), while in my clan we usually see hangars 3-4 levels higher (33% to 46%), and that's only if the MM "works" (whatever that means) and not draws 12/12 hangars. I admit we have not thought that out before the MM, either. I thought it was a good idea until a few weeks ago when the first reports from iOS came in. Now I realize that hangar score should be weighed more heavily. war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/1947/matchmaking-hangar-score-fair-rating

Solo is unfair (I get +2...3 lev on bots and weapons), but somehow when few guys with medium hangars (former silver) team up we get to go against nothing less than 10/11...all way up to 12/12. From rather unrewarding fun it gets to a complete 「dookie」storm in case I try team up.

We are discussing squad tactics at the moment, that will allow us to win against enemies with superior gear. That will be challenging!!! The #1 tactic is voice comms with the whole squad because it lets you coordinate bot drops (i.e., so not everyone is dropping beacon capper at the start), and calling out threats and pushes as well as last bots. With the ancille buff, coord the use of ancillots and pothead Leo's seem like an awesome approach but we don't have any in our clan at the moment. There is a huge difference in play when you have a squad of 6 on comms - not saying it is sufficient to overcome a squad that is 3-4 levels higher, but it does allow you to overcome more powerful randoms and give 12/12 squads more of a run for their money. Other than that, total squad line up so you have a good mix of beacon cappers, knifers, MR/LR. Probably stuff if you already know....

We even use maps to discuss. When we are ready, everybody will know what to do, even without voice. But you are right. Voice don't hurt either.

Finally, some one who admits they are actually doing this purposely! I see Lvl 9-12 5 bot hangers using their first bot only and waiting the rest of the game for coins and to tank their win rate. I'm seeing it nearly every game now... We have gone from clubbing to tanker coin kiddies trying to loose the game on purpose while getting event currency. The games people are loosing are thanks to this, the early ejaculators, and the morons who stand just there AFK... I am fighting all these Assclwns before I even take a shot at another playing player.
All of our win rates are tanking thanks to the people who are tanking. The di#ks who clubbed are now di#king us all by tanking.
IF YOUR WIN RATE IS HALF OF WHAT IT WAS, THANK THE OP AND THE PEOPLE LIKE HIM.
