The only way to prevent the majority of tanking is to make playing in a fun and fair way the most efficient method for players to get the items they want. Battle Rewards don't even come close, so tanking will persist. Unfortunately the most efficient way to get what you want already exists. All you have to do is drop hundreds of dollars and you can have everything you want in as long as it takes to enter your credit card info. The majority of the community finds that options unfavorable though for a variety of reasons. Pix has already stated it will take an impossibly long time to acquire new content without buying it with real money. The don't seem willing to reduce the pricing, as it's been the same for a few months now. The next best way to go about obtaining new items is to play against easier opponents so you can amass resources quicker. And since Pix also refuses to put a system in place to prevents or limits tanking, tanking is the path of least resistance to the shiny new things everyone wants. Most likely unintentionally, Pix has designed a game that encourages tanking. Their tepid denunciation and system full of holes isn't going to stop tanking. Any rewards that are less than you can get from tanking are a waste of time to even read about because it won't resolve the issue. Until the pricing is sane and within reach of most players and the holes are filled in, tanking will always exist. And I've learned Pixonic's solutions are often worse than the actual problem. So love the game like it is now or expect an even worse product in the future. I'd argue tanking is in there by design. Time after time it has been proven (figuratively speaking) that Pix are not a bunch of idiots. If so than it's there by design. IMO Pix is telling those grinders who are not willing to pay the current prices - u know what to do and how to get them. It's fine to club for the time being. As long as you play a lot!

there are different type of tankers - most common variety 1. Ones who escape higher leagues to bring balance back to their game - this won't affect them Is this like Darth Sidious bringing balance back to the force? These guys do their losing in games they don't care about so they can increase their win rate in games they do care about. There's nothing balanced about that. Half the people have to lose each match, even with the league system. It's already balanced. What we have are individual unbalanced matches, and the tankers are increasing the number of those, not the opposite. Well yes and no. It's more like Lord Vader bringing the balance back for him self under the rule and environment controlled by Darth Sidious. You have been around for some time now. You have seen the changes to the points system, exit conditions from the LQ, entry conditions to the LQ and the rest. The challange is naming the changes made by Pix that did not favour clubbers/tankers. I can only think of one which in net terms was of very low significance. I am also of the opininion that the game is balanced. It is balanced for optimal monitization but not for even game play. PS: Makimg the average player lose 50% of their matches is not a sign of balancing. Thats like a concept of communism being mixed with competitive sports and holding competitions where everyone has to take their turns at loosing. A forced win rate is a sign of an anbalanced environment.

How does tanking actually allow players to amass resources faster? The way the daily deals works now it costs 400 Au or approximately 1700 WSP per set of components along with the fact that the desirable bundle is random.
Let's say a tanker steamrolls 40 matches a day and gets the most damage and beacons. That's 400 gold plus the 60 daily gold bonus for a grand total of 460 gold. Not to mention the fact that said tanker will have to take the time out to lose the required amount of matches to stay in a lower league. Also worth mentioning is the 5 BM keys per match for around 200 extra keys a day and 40 bronze Ad chests.
Is this efficient? Am I missing something?

There are two outcomes for this I see...
Option 1...Most players will be above Expert with newbies quickly ranking up with rewards and everyone just plays at the same level...
...or...
...option 2...people won't want to play against similar matched opponents and prefer seal clubbing so tanking continues as everyone already has everything from so many rewards.
Option 2 will happen. Once you are maxed out then you won't care what level you are at.

Whether grinding is worth while or not is surely debatable. Tell me a faster way to gather gold though than clubbing reds with 50k HP instead of 150k HP. Your damage avg will be low but games will be faster. You're more likely to finish on the top and win. Next, you get a spin for every game you play. It's not much but it will addd up over time. Even just dropping a league or two seems to make a significant difference in the strength of players. In champion I'm a solid middle of the pack player. In master 2 I'm a beast taking most damage and beacons more often than not. I couldn't imagine dropping to even diamond. The level differences aside, my experience counts for a lot IMO.

It's a step in the right direction. They need to ban tankers and cheaters. They need to put a floor on league changes, so someone can't bounce around the leagues like a ping-pong ball. Maybe even make it 1 league change a month, up or down. Also, change events so earning an item will be given in components based on league standing. It still won't stop intra-league tanking, so everyone will stay in D3 instead of D1. But they don't want to do that. Satisfying the anti tanking voices while allowing tanking to continue is what they want. also remember that a tanker is not just a 12/12 tanker. There are 10/10s, 6/6 and just about any config. I reckon a significant proportion of players manipulate their leagues. 12/12s just stick out like a sore thumb. And that's why Pix won't crack down on tankers. They don't wanna piss off a large proportion of their users. I think it is time that people accept the premis that it is part of the game and is catered for by Pix. Two things... 1) I'm a police officer, and as a cop I often hear people who use drugs claim that "everyone" uses drugs. Yet statistically and even based on my people interactions this is not even close to being true. So when I hear tankers claim everyone is tanking or that Pix is "forcing" them to tank, it doesn't ring very true in my ears. 2) Pixonic has already stated that they are going to move further away from Au being usable for premium gear, and consolidate WSP,IP and Au gear under components, using a WSP system to make them more obtainable (I'll believe the obtainable components part when I see it). Since Au will be for skins and speeding up upgrades, will that really be worth tanking? That said, yes people will still tank. Every multiplayer online game I have ever played had people blatantly cheating or manipulating the game mechanics in a way it was not meant to be used. Does this mean all game developers design games to be cheated? Please.

Every multiplayer online game I have ever played had people blatantly cheating or manipulating the game mechanics in a way it was not meant to be used. Does this mean all game developers design games to be cheated? Please. I don't like drugs, known people who had a dependence on them and the organisation I work for has a successful wing dealing with drug and gambling disorders. I have a finger in that pie but not in a clinical sense. But I am not sure you are understanding the point I am making as using drug related analogies is not applicable in this situation. You start with a premise and analogy as stated above and translate the reasoning to the game dynamics and design. And based on those parelelles your conclusion is as above. What I am saying is that is inapropriate and an incorrect analogy. In this case the drug is the game. It is designed to be addictive. It is designed to cater for the widest audience as possible. The drug dealer is actually pix. The aim in the real world is security, comfortable existence, fairness and alike. The aim in this game as Pix sees it is revenue. You are just a participant. If an unbalanced game generates more revenue and has a larger user base than a balanced game then that's what you will get. And the fact is Pix is doing very well when you look at the numbers. Much better than during the time of balance. in this game the most important group from a revenue perspective are whales. Grinders come second because they play a lot And make up a large proportion of the active user base in terms of games played. The most effective way to grind is tanking. grinders play a lot and their participation level is supported and rewarded handsomely. And if you say most games are similar in nature when it comes to grinding/resource farming than the question has to be asked if all games are simply flawed or the option is built in. The obvious answer is that it's catered for. They can't all get it wrong. And again, name the changes during the last 12 months that didn't aid this behaviour. I can list many that did. The only time Pix will resolve the tanking problem is when the tankers will hurt the game. And make no mistake, it's very easy to resolve.

In master 2 I'm a beast taking most damage and beacons more often than not. I couldn't imagine dropping to even diamond. The level differences aside, my experience counts for a lot IMO. To me, getting rid of the most blatant offenders is a big win. So the tankers that drop down from Champion to Gold, or from Expert to Bronze. Outside of events, I think the new MM has already gotten rid of a lot of tanking/clubbing compared to the MagGepard seal clubbing days. If I'm not mistaken, you considered tanking but the time investment to drop down from Champion to Bronze would take months. (Which someone mentioned you can easily drop 1000 points a day). Back in the seal clubbing era, it would take a few minutes to change out all the bots/weapons to Gepards and Magnums, then you're in low silver. Put back the regular hanger, and you easily go back into gold tier which was unofficially the highest tier (9 - 12 bots/weapons). Adding in a limit to league changes in a month would put a stop to tanking for events since it would be impossible to drop down in time. (Limit 1 league change up or down per month). Also getting back up would take months too, if the purpose is to temporarily stay in a lower league and then climb back up. There will still be soft tanking, but that isn't as game breaking. The MM already mixes leagues to some degree for Master, so I get dropped into either mostly Expert games and score tops, or Champion games where I am definitely not in the top. There's no way to prevent or detect this for the most part, so I'm not sure this should even be considered a problem if there is no fixing it. Outside of Champion dropping down to Master, is anyone going to notice a supposed Expert1 player playing in Expert2?

Based on the data here what I'm seeing it look like they're heading the right direction a long term revenue. after the phase on the dash bots my best bet their agenda was to milk the whales. Would this stop from tanking? Yes and No.

I'll tell you what will solve the tanking issue, is start putting temp bans on tankers, not giving minor rewards to everyone else. Problem is, some of the tankers are also whales, and Pik$onic doesn't wan't to bite the hand that feeds it. As this is not an option, the only remaining solution is to go back to hangar based matchmaking, with rewards depending on the league and opponent strength.

Things are getting more and more complicated. Many ppl wont bother and just move on to another game.
I see many friends/clan m8s, just quit or take long breaks.. Game supposed to be fun and relaxing.. not another job task or more homework!

So, T34, you always say "trust me, they could easily fix tanking if they wanted to". Well, I don't trust cheaters, so why don't you share with everyone what it is, EXACTLY, that Pix could "easily" do to fix tanking? And then tell us what your experience is that lets us know how you know it'll work and that it is easy.

Designed to take advantage of gambling type spending and designed to encourage cheating are not the same thing. Blaming your bad behaviour on others is a pretty typical criminal thinking error. You, and you alone, are responsible for your behaviour. If you feel it's appropriate, that's fine, but the constant finger pointing tells me you don't think it is.

The question is asking about the tankers.
This will do nothing to them, so no to the literal question. Tankers gonna tank, haters gonna hate (I am in the latter group). No reward is going to match causing misery to new players, and feeling the power of being able to squash bugs. If you can't afford to pay for DIESS hangar to do it, then tanking is the free player option. Also if you do buy a DIESS hangar, but still find your skills are too low for Champions league, then tanking is the way to get the gratification you paid for.
However, many who tank, do so because of what the game is currently, and don't want to be seal clubbed. They will find they no longer want to do it, because they also do want the rewards. So if I would answer based on what I think the question is intending to ask, instead of how it is written and what the options are, then the answer would be "it will reduce tanking a lot".

Don't forget some of us tank because we lag so bad our weapons seldom hit. I generally tank about every third game so that when I do try, I have some chance at winning. I doubt this will change much. Even if I had a million dollars to **waste** on this game, I could never be in the top...the game plays too horrible for me for that to ever occur.

I am positive that battle rewards unlike the supply drops will encourage tanking.
If a player cant be among the top players in each battle, he would just drop few leagues. Not nessaely to bronze like during events, but for example deoping from masters to diamonds seems reasonable to avoid being crushed, while farming. And thus such players will force diamonds to go down to gold or silver and do theie own farming.
I played clash of clans for years and never bothered to push to reach the higher leagues, due to the fact that the farming mode is totaly saparated from the war mode. The farming mode has matching system that match you to townhalls upto two lvls above/lower in the league you are currently in.
While the war mode, the war team weight is calculated and is matched usually by equal enemy..
Farming attacks, could be done every 5min. you just role cheapest troops against easiet enemy you find for easy fast loot. (Including good rare findings of dead abandoned bases for free loot)
War attacks for all lvls, only twice every 48hrs and requiere a lot of thinking, planning and strategy. If you fail all ur team might lose.

The higher reward chests. You don't really need to win, or get most dmg. You can still get top 3 beacons. Maybe not every match, but I hope regular play doesn't become like the events all the time now with beacon tasks essentially. And for the most part, beacons have nothing to do with leagues. You either have a beacon capper, or you run a fast hanger. Bots like Kumiho, and even the much-aligned Fly could make a come back.

Two reasons people tank.
Bad MM system. You continue to stay the league you're in and play you're best and get stomped or, tank down and stomp others. It's a vicious food pyramid cycle.
Second is to farm. The rewards payout is dog ?poo-poo? in this game. So what you do? Tank of course.
If the rewarding system doesn't work then that because it sucks donkey turd . Also, you can't choose the components you have to deal whatever payxonic give you. Will this stop tankers? You bet your ?poo-poo? it won't And finally make items cheaper and give better portion size. This may change their mind and perhap they will try to play legit instead of beating weaker players in order to farm.

There are better ways to tank than the most frequently used methods, as well as much more ethical places to stop. People with level 12s should not be ditching all the way down to 384 trophies. Not 3840 trophies but instead 384, literally private league. I’ve personally seen these people and I do have screenshots of their pilot id’s of which I managed to get a pixo representative to say that they didn’t condone such unfair battle tactics and that they would look into it. Thing is: they’ve said that on repeat for years. You send pixo a tanker and from what I’ve seen, nothing is done about it. So the real question is what we as a community can do to change this unfortunate series of events that pixonic themselves is unwilling or unable to change? Aka how do we as a community stop the tanking?

The suggestion of not being able to drop down a league more than once every 30 days is a good one. I would also suggest that the mm work by assigning points to the top 6 bots and top 20 weapons in each player's collection and factoring those into the equation, so a guy with mk2 haechis and mk2 orkans would never face a guy with a 6/6 hangar, no matter how much the haechi player tanked.
An alternative would be a game mode where all bots/weapons are all set to 9/9 once the game begins.
I think more people tank to be in god mode than to get resources. Same reason people used to twink in World of Warcraft. People love to absolutely crush the opposition with impunity, plain and simple. If there were 0 benefits to tanking and seal clubbing you can bet a huge number of people would still do it. Many of the guys I see doing it have already have full mk2 dash bot hangars so what resources do they need? And obviously they have spent a lot of real dollars on the game so the notion that they are grinding resources seems implausible.
The only way a gane like this can ever be truly balanced is to switch to a league of legends model where real dollars buys cosmetics only and people spend money like crazy just because the game is amazing (and balanced). I myself would pay for skins in War Robots if I wasn't paying to buy gold to get weapons or bots...

This system will be a 90% DECREASE in silver earnings for EVERYONE. So yes, it will stop tankers. Because it will remove the incentive for anyone to play battles, so if nobody plays, there's no tanking. Problem solved. Pilots don't tank for the rewards pilots tank so they can reach lower lvl players to reach insane stat averages/win percentages! A maxxed mk2 hanger against the average gold league player with lvl 10 mk1 average hangers allows them to reach insanely high average damage per battle and increases their win percentage to, I have seen as high as 98% victories!

The Silver payouts aren't nearly high enough to discourage tanking. At roughly 60 games each league from Champion to Diamond and 40 games each from Diamond to Silver, a dedicated tanker could drop to Silver in about six hours of really boring play. I imagine the Supply Drops would be attractive enough if you actually needed components, but don't expect much change in tanking behavior.

No one care about stats or very few does..I used to tank before and mostly did it for the 10 gold from each game and free spin or speed up from commercials you get . Some does it for grinding while some does it as it is fun for them to kill players with low lvl gears .
