I'm curious what kind of attitude forum members have towards purchasing virtual entertainment. The poll is there to give a TL;DR, but if you're willing to share, I'd like to know how you approach the money question.

I can’t justify the purchase of most of what is offered in the game. Premium for extra silver is ok with me.
If I want to give a gift to a clan mate, or a prize is offered for a contest I have no problem with that or helping our clan in general with extra slots, I will do that, but even now slots over 38 are off limits to me.
If I break down what I have spent for all the hours of fun I get out of the game, it really doesn’t add up to much over the years I have played.

For me, I could buy a max hanger, and other than the somewhat embarrassing conversation with the missus about why, it wouldn't much impact the family budget. I have spent money on this game (less than $100 over a year and change) roughly evenly split between myself and gifts for others. I haven't spent money on this game since the launch of the Wild Bots, and have no plans to spend any more. The main reason is I don't see the value.
War Robots is fun. More than it isn't. But spending money on the game wouldn't improve the fun quotient. The Inflation Rate in this game is 'uge - an appearant half-life of about 3 months. If Pixonic had a commitment to balance and their products held value, they could expect $400 - $600 a year from me. As it is, I am content to try my skill with Workshop / Ag / Au gear leveled to 5/9 and go grab an adult beverage when Matchmaker has one of its frequent seizures.

I pay for premium. Occasinally grab some gold deals. Not willing to buy maxed hangar. I am not that wealthy also that i could afford to throw thousands into a mobile game.

Used to be a regular spender, twenty a month or so, but the inflation is really discouraging and I don't think it's doing the game any wonders in the long run, hence why I've stopped spending and am enjoying what I do have until I no longer can't.

For me I think it’s boils down to:
A) not wanting to risk losing what I pay for (I buy it I want to access it whenever I want - ex: a game shuts down servers and I can’t access anymore) and
B) I don’t want to feel forced to spend (to compete, to complete, etc). If I’m having fun and spending will increase that fun I will. If I feel like I’m being forced to spend to compete then I’ll stubbornly figure out a way to never spend and compete anyway. I’m also that A-Hole who will slow down to a crawl if someone tailgates me.

I used to spend up to $500 a year on mobile games. Spent my share on War Robots, too. But as all 3 "f2p" games I played a lot all turned into p2w (and right now it seems that every single game on the market uses the fecking loot boxes), I became much more sensitive towards monetization. I will still spend money on games if I play them for long enough, but only if I consider their monetization scheme as fair (that is, not p2w).
I do feel that games deserve my money if I get enjoyment out of them. But my spending is way down, maybe $5-$10 per month, and $0 for War Robots, as I still refuse to give Pixo even one more cent.

I have spent around $600 over this year, mostly in the events. I agree about the half life of the gear and the current costs of the gear stated by other posters. I also take into account the value of the game itself to me. I see that value declining rapidly over the last few updates, particularly the reluctance to address the game mechanics issues. I am looking to go back to PC gaming. When my premium runs out at the end of the month so will I.

I compare it to any other PC based (or console, for those evil console users) game. I can buy a full copy of Call of Doody XXVIII (slight exaggeration) for around a hundred bucks. And that's full retail. No way would I spend more than that on War Robots. Sadly, even CoD now has "buy this pack and get the cool weapons/maps/whatever" (for multiplayer)
EDIT: I would normally spend SOMETHING on a game that I enjoy playing. Game development/servers/bandwidth costs money, so if I'm enjoying myself, I like to give some support. Spending $300 on a single mech would be like spending that sort of money on one AR in CoD
Even before the downfall of AVC when I was earning over $100K per year I still wouldn't fork out that sort of money.

My limit is 600g for .99 cents. That’s the only deal I ever buy. And sometimes I skip It too.

I make it a point to never spend on multiplayer games or microtransactions. Multiplayer games I don't spend on because I don't think it's worth the money for a game that will die out sooner or later. Microtransactions I don't spend on because I don't support them ethically. Too many people have had their lives ruined by predatory microtransaction practices.
I am fine with expansion packs and DLCs with actual content however. By actual content I mean something along the lines of the dragonborn DLC, the shivering isles DLC, or the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt paid DLCs. Something that provides entire new areas and storylines to explore, not just some ingame costumes or something similarly silly that should have been included in the base game or provided as free DLC.

I am dropping $20 on christmas as my first purchase, maybe more but $40 is the maximum I will EVER spend in one go. It just doesn't make sense to spend more than that.
I don't know if you guys have heard of this, but I used to play a game called Wizard101. I quit around mid-september. It is a fun game, but it is pay to play. It is worth it, as the gameplay is engaging and you make a lot of friends, but the reason I quit is because the game became P2W. There is this thing called PvP which stands for player vs player, and people were spending hundreds of dollars just to get a couple spells (you use spells to attack). These spells were "broken" in a sense that they broke the game because they were too powerful. I had to leave a lot of friends, and it was hard, but I did it. Also the community became toxic to me (excluding my friends). Long story short, I named my character something, and it turns out (I didn't even know at the time) that the name I chose was the name a famous "Wiztuber" (a person who does wizard101 youtube vids) named BlazeLifehammer chose (BlazeLifehammer is the name BTW).
I REALLY hope War Robots doesn't become that way, because this game is probably one of the best games I've ever played.

My limit was 10 bucks. Spent on the 500+ au deals for 99cents. I only did that to buy a Zeus Fury as a dash counter because I was mad at how they were released and there was no way I was going to pony up hundreds to get one, so if you can't join 'em, beat 'em! If Royale is indeed here to stay then there's no real need to buy premium, I just spin it for the day (can't use premium when I'm sleeping)and I'm good for the grind.

I have a range. its between 0-$15 a month. No financial constraints what so ever but I will not buy a dash bot outright. That sort of pricing should not be supported in my opinion. I haven't spent for a short while but may start spending again as Pix seems to be somewhat trying. the problem is the P2W element.

My model is quite unique and it's hard for me to pick a vote. It goes like this:
1. A non-freemium game cost roughly $100. This will be the benchmark.
2. I will assess the freemium games by my satisfaction.
3. If the satisfaction is 80% of a non-freemium game, I will be willing to pay $80 annually.
P.S. I ignore in game offers and items completely. I pay in support for a good game, to show my appreciation towards the effort of the developers.

50 dollars is my limit and I've reached it. I could spend way more, but I draw the line there for every game.
I suppose I could make an exception for a really amazing game, but War Robots with the Shocktrain does not meet that criteria for me.

I spend on Premium and buy small amounts of gold for upgrades and of course some of the gold bots too. but that's it mainly. I won't spend like hundreds on a dash or the new weapons.

I think I have dropped around 30€ in the game (I started playing late August), most of them with the 600au offer. I am willing to keep spending that much, maybe more, while I keep playing and enjoying the game.
There is a value problem though, small amounts of money do not bring that much satisfaction and sometimes I pay just to support the app and stockpile resources, but with no spending target in mind. Sure, I could buy a Lancelot and a Fury, but what is the point in buying expensive placeholders when you can use cheap ones while you wait for the wsp offers, events and chests to slowly (and hopefully) provide the premium stuff. I do not see the value in rushing upgrades, as I only level things to mk1 lv 9.
In any case, I do believe Pix is lately giving the chance for non-whales to get the premium stuff (maybe while they polish the new OP salvo). Of course you will not have a full mk2 haechi hangar or be able to compete in equal terms with them, but you can get some dashes and premium weapons. I am happy with the things I got for my money and my time (really a lot of time during events grinding).

I have spent, when spending in modest amounts was actually worth it. How much is a modest amount depends on what I'm getting. $50 for a bot is not what I'd call modest; what they want now for any of the new bots and weapons is just ridiculously unreasonable. Good deals on gold, like say 2:1 or better were worth it. I think the most I spent was $20 in one shot on a Rog and a pile of Au. But those spends are pretty much worthless now, so now I'm not spending ]anything. I'll go with what I've got, level it up as far as I can, bounce around in the Diamond leagues until the proliferation of dashes and scourges becomes intolerable, and then I'll either just stop playing or fill my hangar with 1/1 Cossacks as my form of protest.
The bottom line is, what I was willing to spend is no longer of any value, so I'm no longer spending it.

Spent a lot before. I got suckered in after winning 3 kbots in the old BM version. Now only when I feel Im getting decent value for money. 600au for 99c every week and a few components when I get close to completing a weapon. I hardly use the Kbots. Legacy bots with the new weapons are the new fun zone.

The only thing I buy is 600 gold for $.99. If I saw something worthwhile that was a good value, like an Orkan for $3.99, I might bite. I would like to get something right now to get the gold bonus!
I would never spend big bucks... did that for the Anniversary Event (about $60) and it actually panned out well, but it was a one time deal.

I spend ~$10-$15 a month on average, the bulk of that is on Premium for silver.
That's about all my tight-wad inclinations will allow me to spend comfortably on this form of entertainment. If you're uncomfortable with what you spend on something, then you probably shouldn't be doing it. Also, if you can afford something, then you definitely shouldn't be doing it. Those are my rules.

20 euros per game is my border, if i enjoy it.
I could buy a CD game for PS1 for 5 euros or less some 15 years ago. Inflation is around 5-7 % a year, so, keeping in mind even that, 20 euros looks too much, but it's a border i have put.
Another but - i haven't spent anything on War Robots yet, and seeing that those 20 euros won't give me much, i doubt if i will spend anything at all (maybe those 600Au offers sometime, but only maybe).

There are three issues that really repel me about Pixonic's recent strategy: (1) its increasingly reliance on gambling mechanisms and currency obfuscation to massively increase the price of new content; (2) its refusal to reasonably balance new content; and (3) its introduction of pay-2-to-win features like Mk2 and multiple hangers.
I think the War Robots endgame can fairly be described as a contest of skill. If everyone has fully-leveled gear, then skill is going to decide the match. Theoretically, that is still the case. But Pixonic seems determined to protect its whales from ever having to compete on a level playing field.

On the same page as Mordacai. I spent much more freely on this game up until the release of the WW bots. Although I did buy myself a Christmas present in a BF Haechi, I hadn't really had any urge to spend since the WW bots. For me, the WW bots were a clear sign on where this game was going. If they were willing to increase prices nearly 300%, for bots that aren't even all that good, and people were willing to buy them, I knew it wasn't going to stop there. And I don't think it will stop, nor do I think the game will die any time soon.

I have no problem spending on the game but expect to have a reasonable path to acquire an item. The DIESS bots and weapons have a lot of variables tied in to their acquisition and the flat amount is too much for me to justify.

I'd spend if the prices were more in line with console games. $60 for a title vs $300 for one bot?
