DB Griffin seems to be a staple robot in many many hangars.....and I'm finding that setup very good BUT nowhere near the killing/hunting power of an Orkan Rog. Im not sure what I'm doing wrong but as an example --> I managed an entire match with my Rog on that new map, got 9 kills, my highest ever damage (817k) and 6 beacons. I can't imagine doing that on DB Griffin ?
League wise im on the cusp of gold (1 more victory needed) and my bot/weapons are lowly lvl 6/6.
is it just that I suck with a Griffin? What am I doing wrong? At this rate I'm going to dump 1 Griffin and run 2 Rogs....(well 2 Rogs, 2 Griffins and 1 Gareth)

Griffins are slow, so they can't escape. Therefore you really need to make the full kill and hide again with a griffin, whereas a rog can do *some* damage and still get away and keep pecking at bots.
Once your orkans/pinatas are like level 9+ you should be able to 1-shot a lot of non-ancile bots and hide to reload/repeat. That's probably the issue.
They're really two completely different playstyles all the way up to max level though, one is a harasser, the other is an eraser.

Also be aware that the DB Griffin front-loads most of its damage. That means that you MUST hit the first 2 seconds of rockets to be effective.

In other words, the first two seconds deal massive damage and the last two seconds reduce you to the firepower of a Rogatka with a damaged leg.

And if you jumped in you have to basically eat the counterstrike. Still, unless I have a carnage or something similarly fast and ancilated, I tend to avoid DB's moreso than rog or pdb.

Thanks everyone - I think as suggested it's probably the low lvl of Orkans (lvl 6) My Rog is just doing repeated Raptor style hit and run attacks and using speed and cover. My Griffin can't kill Heavier bots in 1 strike and is more exposed following its assault.
Back to grinding them up the levels!

Another helpful tip for dealing with pdb.
Charge up at least 2 seconds worth. Step out and cornershoot 2 seconds and pop back under cover. Don't worry if some of your shots hit the wall. You'll trade damage but will come out ahead (if they don't have ancile). Don't be afraid to back up for a while while you charge up.

Thats because the speed and agility, weapons config and ample hp of the rog in maps with ample cover: A. allow you to put yourself in optimal firing positions. B. allow you to dodge some fire and minimize being fired upon, maximizing cover available and increasing survivability. C. sacrifice only 2 pinatas worth of damage for such and advantage. D. allow for a wider variety of options to attack and retreat.

Also, it was a revelation when I finally learned the selective fire trick and could get both the Ork and Piñata corner shooting at once and keep the other side ready to unload if needed.

Some great advice above for both bots. Like you, I always struggled with the Griff. Okay, an RDB I can manage, but I could never work the DB/PDB variety - something just didn't gel. So, despite learned wisdom seeing other hangers with 2 or 3 griffs, I turned by back and went Rog. My 2 hoppers are the stars in my hanger - starter to cap and harass, later one to mop up and re-cap. Works for me. And, as others might say, "YMMV"
