Part 2 of our series on where Pixonic has gone wrong with War Robots... "and offer free drinks served up by attractively-clad staff (pity, that)," Theres an inappropriate "Natasha" picture out there that I thought of when reading this. Also, this is a pretty good take on the situation as it stands today...

This was a thorough, well-put explanation of Pixonic's toying with our trust, and our money. As highlighted by your post, the player base has become increasingly distrustful of Pixonic. Effectively, Pixonic has bitten the hands that have fed them.
In your last few sentences, are you saying that Pixonic recognizes that there is an issue with their pay-to-win situation, but that they're not doing anything about it?
(PS: I love your vocabulary. "Sardonic"? "Canard"? "Shambolic"? *moans I'm impressed!)

I thinking to quit.. They break the game and even more Pix seem more and more like scammers and i dont wish to support scammers even as f2p. Their bot/gold daily deals, are scam.. some Boa or Tulu +Gold == , trying to trick/scam noobs!! Also deals of less components but same price! Everyone saw these mathmaticly illogical deals.. another scam.. Ingame casino, BM/Rollete/cards, this makes the game unethical teaching kids to gamble! # If it looks like a sacm, swims like a sacm, and quacks like a scam, then its probably is a scamPix. #

Really well-written argument. I think it's important to keep pressuring the game developer to do better by the players so I greatly appreciate your efforts in that regard.

Excellent analysis. Do you still play Dredd?
I am hoping that you write up an article analyzing the difference in gameplay previously to now, because it isn't just the economy of the game that has gone wrong, the gameplay has been ruined too.

"Ruined" is a strong word. I still play daily and have a lot of fun. Of course I'm not using level 9/10 meta and nearmeta bots so that I get stomped by 12/12 more meta bots either. How "ruined" as opposed to "not as good as before"? And what was the "before"? Pre-leagues? Pre-DIESS?

Great work. Id also add to the casino chip like element of all the currencies, where you can forget its real money, and the value is discombobulated. I mean 10,000 components dont have the same real money value across the board. And these ?fluffy bunny?ers make it impossible to figure out real money conversion rates from au and wsp with these two item packages. Astronomical prices with no value transparency.

Pixonic stares at their bottom line. Unless that signals to them a problem. Then 'where they went wrong' is a discussion held over tea and crumpets. Good article non the less.

Great write up.
"Every item is presented as an equally-sized box, which suggests that the odds of winning each item are equal. This is a lie- they are not. Just like the chests, the greater the value of the reward, the less your odds of winning it."
This is so true. If the prizes were represented proportionally, the 50k Ag would have the size of a Jumbo Jet and the 3500 components the size of a dime in the pocket of the pilot ..
You forgot to mention the small "fine print" with the 7.5k Au Hangar feature. A second set of bots and weapons is needed. So Pixonic wins again, even if they gave them away for free to everyone - which they don't.

As I mentioned in another thread. When a government takes rights away, they don't do it all at once, people would revolt. So they slowly take one freedom at a time and at each step people think to themselves "is it really worth fighting over that one single right?" Eventually people reach the point that they almost have no rights, and by then do those last few rights matter? No people say, and then they have no rights.
That is what happened here.
All the "wait and see" people (including the author of this article, look at his older pieces) who have been on this forum forever and preached caution should be kicking themselves. You have to stand up the moment something threatens you care for and fight it. We aren't here to be friends with Pixonic, it is a purely business relationship, treat them the way you would a car salesman. But so many preached caution and Pixonic took advantage of it. And now, frankly, it is too late.
It would be sad for me, but the wait and see folks spent a lot of money and have the most to lose. I called them out back in July, but here we are. And we all know the old saying "A fool and his money are easily parted."

Thanks to EA, loot or RNG boxes have fallen under the eye of regulators around the world. That is going to put heat on Pixonic from another direction.

I imagine that talk at pix will happen when the next round of bots come out, and the players who spent more on kbots than the Stark family spent on dogfood start griping.

The big problem now is the need to continually produce OP stuff. The whales have bought what they need. The mini whales have probably got a few things and are content with what they have, the F2P folk will continue to moan and farm. No more money is rolling in. What can Pix do.. Hover-dash bots! (2x HP of a dash) Multi target weapons! (The ultimate Shocktrain upgrade).
Producing inferior things won't get them the money. Why downgrade from a dash?

They did produce something weaker and cheaper, the Hover bot and the Storm shotgun. $47.99 for the Hover bot is all but initial price and over time, we know that initial prices do come down. $12.99 for the Storm is already low to start with, and this costs less than some common gold weapons. Both are certainly not OP.
I'm not sure how they can monetize this but I guess there might be some buyers because at least for the Storm its more affordable. The Hover bot still struggles to justify that price, though we may see the inevitable discounts.
The only way for them to keep going is to get new players in to replace those who have left.

This is a delightful response that highlights our common humanity. I'm in for the blue-collar American experience, bronzeknee goes for something a little more fascist, but ultimately we both have a love of dance in common.

What can Pix do.. Hover-dash bots! (2x HP of a dash) Multi target weapons! (The ultimate Shocktrain upgrade). Im sure they will think of something! The reworked UI making way for 5 weapon meks? More dual-abilitiy meks? A new super-heavy class of mek or weapons? A combination of all-three of those or some other abomination.... Im guessing in January or February we may see the next-generation of whats next. It will definitely be a meta-changer whatever it is.

great read ,a few points to mention I am a big supporter of vr and the demo was awesome but ... all the rewards are for mobile game and i play on facebook gameroom id give them 10$+ just for the exp i had playing the skirmish demo . i still might support them with 25 but it would be easier to jump in if i could get the rewards on facebook gameroom. it really makes no sense to target the mobile game audience to support a game that will be played on pc .
the second thing is that pixonic has always had outrageous pricing systems wsp conversion rates and buying silver for upgrades etc put prices of a 5 rhino hanger out of reach for most of us if we wanted to just buy them NOW. what i think has happened is that people discovered that you can buy a bunch of stuff then get a refund and you dont lose your bots or upgrades you payed for . this let some players who committed fraud pump their hangers up . other players who had deep pockets then jumped into the arms race and actually spent 800$ to get a kumiho etc.not sure if the refunds coming w/o taking the goodies back is some new policy between google and apple and pixonic but i feel some combination of these factors is to blame and alot of this would be out of pixonics hands now

Very nice article. However, in hindsight it seems clear that the matchmaking change was in no way designed to fix "clubbing", but the first step of the strict new monetization scheme, forcing players to upgrade towards a "meta" hangar and spend RM. Just think of it, we all would still enjoy War Robots if we still had the old matchmaking, wouldn't we?
