So, remember back when Mail.ru bought pix, and everyone was super excited because more money for pix = more frequent updates?
Well, it seems that we ARE getting more frequent updates, yet even though they keep pushing out money-making schemes, and even started a kickstarter to help with what seems to be financial difficulties, Pix...just might be actually desperate.
See, it's like DICE and EA. DICE in this situation is pix. They're a loved, respected dev team that everybody felt extremely happy for. Well, they were. Now Mail.ru, which is EA in this situation, is forcing rapid, idiotic monetization out the wazoo. Why? Profit margins, and likely some fine print in the contract that it's using to muscle the actually decent funding levels out of pix over and over again.
A contract like this would also explain why the old devs left: They probably just...didn't agree with Mail.ru's schemes.
I'm not to keen on looking up other games by mail, but I'm pretty sure that this is the same company that made AW (Armored warfare), which...well, how many of you really know about that game?
Recap: Former devs left right before Mail.ru bought pix. Pix is struggling with money problems to the point of launching a kickstarter, even though the game is RAKING in money.
(Pre-post edit, or at least another viewpoint on what's happening):Also, actually, another thing, that might add to this: Pix is slated to receive $30 mil. They get $20 mil, and an additional $10 mil if they reach set performance goals. What are those performance goals? Probably money-based things.
Sauce for the second point. www.businessofapps.com/war-robots-developer-pixonic-gets-snapped-30m-mail-ru-deal/
Summary of the second point: Pix might just be trying to reach those performance goals in time to get the extra $10 mil so pixonic isnt our enemy mail.ru is.
