Haha, it's nice to see what was said about this bot when it first came out. I forgot Aceboy started it, and he later went on to post a lot of good tips on how to run this bot.

McScuse me?!?! BE GLAD IT ISN'T OP! No one said it was op. At first, the hover can be hard to handle, but, with practice, you can make it the fastest bot in the game. Ever liked the griffin? This is it, but with better health, better speed, a better ability and all in exchange for one light weapon. I saved up for it before the workshop 2.0.
All the bots are getting more expensive to upgrade, I can agree with you on that. It was not this expensive before.

I'm interested in the Hover. I like the concept. Just gotta learn to use the glide properly. I'm thinking with Shocktrains, it would be a killer. The glide does not fly high (like what we saw on the test server.) You fly a maximum height of like 20M and that's it! Also you are not fast enough while hovering. Think of it this way, a Stalker bot but with glider option as opposed to stealth and 2M slots as opposed to light. I am using 2 Tarans and 1 Magnum but still get my bot toasted. What a waste of my $$ and gold/silver upgrading it It glides plenty high, but I agree with you on the fact that the sky ceiling sucks.

Schrotter lowly disciple, brotherhood of the sky Print the shirt and I'll buy a dozen! I'm a huge fan of both hover and raven precisely because they aren't OP and take skills to pilot well. Because the less bot you have...the more Man (or woman) you need to be.

Very expensive to upgrade and not OP it’s actually not that bad with scourge, tarans or vortex. I run Taran on mine and it’s really good for taking out hiding haechi and spectre.

Interesting idea, could finance my Pixo bills.... now I just need some appropriate hover imaging to go with it and this new mail order T-shirt enterprise is a go ;-)

Dunno OP, a flying bot sounds risky...I’ll stick to purple bubbles, tethers and phase shift crack.
Good luck!

I want new Hovers. Like a heavy weapon Hover. Hover is fun but firepower holds it back. Maybe 2 lights and a heavy like Strider or better yet go Golem-style and do light+medium+heavy. If the make-believe corporations of Mars can jam 3 modules, repulse ability and 4 medium weapons into a Leech, then they can up the firepower of a new Hover-style bot without sacrificing speed or maneuverability. Maybe do a DR version too. The movement dynamics are so fun, seems like it's be easy to expand it into a whole line of bots like Dragons/Greeks.

The Hover needs a pilot/pilot skill that lets it leap like it did when it was in the skirmish. More Rog like. That’d be a big improvement.

Yeah, I've been thinking a single/double tap dynamic would be great. One tap and you do a small Rog-like leap out of cover so you can unload your weapons real quick. Two taps gets you the regular old rocket leap skyward. Best of both worlds.

I’d go cuckoo for Coco Puffs if that happened...skirmish Hover was cool. The option to do either would be great! However, the reality is that Hover is 2 years old, and bots in the game are not meant to last, they are meant to be phased out with newer more OP stuff that keeps you buying power cells, Au, boosters, Ag etc to “keep up”. Hover’s time has come and gone, as in LONG GONE... and didn’t really ever “take off” ha ha ha ha ha. However, for the handful of us that have cracked the Hover code, we’ve enjoyed an Easter Egg that the devs maybe never intended us to enjoy, but I’d they did...thanks!!!! Best Phildo ever.

I’ve been a big fan of Strider since it came into the game, and have rarely played a game since friggin gold league without one or the other. In roughly 26-27k total games, about 90% have been with both Strider and Hover in the same hangar. While quite different on paper, common threads between Strider and Hover are distance management, trolling, and very high reward for high situation awareness. My basic thought in each bot is something like this: - create a ruckus, distract reds from doing what they should to mess with me - when they begin engaging me, slip out - when they go back to doing what they should be doing, re-engage Rinse and repeat

When I have them in my hangar I instantly start rising up to Champions League. Coincidence? I think not.

Oldest post I ever commented on! Awesome blast from past. How could I refuse dropping a nickel in the meter?
I was amped to get one when they first came out. Then horrified at the suicide mode jump and thought I'd made a mistake.
And then I stumbled across a ledge and hit the jump button by accident ... 「whiskey tango foxtrot」?!? Discovered glide, bought 2 more. Remember the first time you looked out from atop the highest perch on Shenzhen? Your first aerial dogfight with another hover? Beating blue dash bots to center beacon on yam? Good times.
In fact I Just rotated one back into main hangar to test out the light sno-cone dispenser I won. It's at Level 8 w/ 2 12/1 storms. Wanted to pair it with something that could shatter frozen mechs. And the short range of the frosty actually makes me tend to close tight before shooting at all, which only helps the storms lethality.
Im rusty on my application of the jump mechanics atm, so am keeping it on the ground more than usual but that will change as i get my touch back.
Example: Tried to fly into the lower deck of the bridge from the uphill side on castle. There was a red hogging the bridge beacon at about half health. I don't even remember what bot it was but I was confident that I could take them Out and flip the beacon. All I had to do was get a little drop to get a glide going and head towards the chasm, nurse the juice up and ascend, turning towards the bridge before letting of and diving. If I did it right and saved a scoche of "fuel" to level up for the landing I would have basically slammed right into senior red as I unloaded my storms and tasty freeze into his face....that was the plan.
I found my mini ledge, gliding, boost the thruster slightly as I'm turning...catching some fire from my left but red on bridge has no idea what's about to hit him...dropping now just enough time/fuel left to level out and land...Gonna be sweet....
........
SLAMMO!! missed it by that much..I'm sure senior red was startled af when my hover slammed, from the neck up, into the bottom of the upper platform.. but he seemed to recover rather quickly as I sloooowwwly slid down, out of fuel, luck and time as he blew me to pieces as I fell to my doom..
It was great. There are very few bots in the game that you can get in that kind of trouble with.
Thanks for bringing this one back up.
It would be nice to see some of the older bots get some love from devs, but ain't gonna happen w this bunch.

It would be nice to see some of the older bots get some love from devs, but ain't gonna happen w this bunch. I think it was release 3.6 that breathed a lot of life back into Hover, more HP and ground speed. I too have gone into the drink at Castle, and Carrier...got stuck in the heat of things at the top structure at Valley, and on and on. Although in will fade further into irrelevance, for me it’s the bot (ok Strider too), that kept me interested in the game. When I started using it (with Molots I suppose initially), Spectre wasn’t in the game yet.... The breakthrough for me, besides the 3.6 release was “Spark”. I had already figured out that Scourges were the only realistic build against the Phildo du jour, and adding Spark (which puts out 80-90% of the damage the scourge puts out) instead of whatever it was I had on before the effect was immediate. This small change took the bot to another level, and placing it on par with bots that most would greatly prefer over Hover. Pix isn’t perfect, but they made Hover, funnest most skill-denandingest Phildo ever. The great moments in the bot are sweet memories. Some videos made too
