It kind of depends on what you are facing, but I think the DB setup is generally considered the best overall because of the massive amount of burst damage. After that probably Orkan/Aphid or PDB (Taran/Magnum).

Most people pick those two options recommended by Styro but on middle and upper-middle tiers in the current meta, I prefer punisher or or spiral/hydra griffs. Punisher does 2x damage vs armor and can bounce away. It also pairs well with scourge as you start acquiring those. Orkan-Spiral is a nasty build when you run into someone who is skilled at using it. They just beat you to death for awhile with those spirals and you think you are dealing with a patton or a Jesse or whatever and then you finally get to them and they unload double orkans in your face.

That is any time you battle through hard odds to take down an opponent only to get slaughtered at the payoff. So-named after the character in the shining who battles through a snow storm and incredible adversity only to get immediately slaughtered. It's one of two things I dread most happening in this game. The other being a network freeze at a crucial moment.

They all do different things, some better than others. And playstyle matters.

Since last May, when Ag rockets started to reload while firing, DB Griffin is by far best.
These days, with Dash bots, PDB power is rising again, it's the 2nd best, though more situational. DB can take down Ancile and do damage better than plasma can destroy physical shields.
Aphid-Orkan used to be good, but now it's clearly inferior to the 2 setups above, both because of aforementioned Pinata buff, and because game is faster now, there is less time to stay in cover and lob salvos from just 2 Aphids, and because Aphids are bad against fast bots, which are more and more common.
Helfire (Magnum-Orkan) is good only for Rhino, because of the shield mechanics. On Griffi it is inferior against both Anciles and physical shields. Especially so since Pinata reload while firing.
Punishers are decent, if you like a bit more range. They've got scary damage potential when you get to keep shooting full clip (ie. When flanking or out of enemy range).
