I don’t know. But it seems like I’m seeing more and more players doing this. Is there some YouTuber that does this or some theory that says this is a good idea? I can’t imagine it being any kind of good. In the past few weeks, It seems like every couple of games I play, I see at least one or two players with these oddball setups. Not only mixing kinetic/plasma/rockets/missles, but the ranges are all jacked up too. It reminds me of being in bronze and silver league again. These are not newbies though. These are diamond and some expert players with over 1,000 victories. It makes me wonder. While I realize not everyone is on these forums or ones similar, it doesn’t take a detective to see what other players are using as effective. I realize “effective” doesn’t always HAVE to be “conventional” but there is a reason most veteran players use uniform setups. I hadn’t been taking screenshots until the last game I played. I saw a player in game rockin’ some weird ?poo-poo? and though I didn’t take a SS in game, I checked all the accounts after the game and took screenshots of TWO players in the same game doing this. Both were in this game:

I notice that there is a lot of range, and indirect fire mixed in there. IDFK soften a target from cover and close for the kill? Hangers to fade with?
Maybe there is something to this and experimentation is required.

Like, if the UI/HUD allowed for easier use of individual weapons, I could see it possibly being beneficial. It would require more skill for sure and could be fun. But I got thick 「bum-bum」 fingers and wind up accidentally hitting the fire button when I turn half the time. The buttons are just not good for continuous, back & forth, individual weapon fire. I imagine not many people could pull that off and have it be more effective than a âbrandedâ setup. Not without a mouse and keyboard.

Look the fact that the controls work at all with my giant thumbs is kind of amazing. Single shooting is a skill, and even more so just to shoot groups of weapons, it is totally possible to learn by touch/muscle memory. Oddly hangers like this would FORCE you into that situation rather quickly and Im guessing you would learn faster-- these setups might have that purpose but IDFK.

Question: Is this an old screenshot? I don't recall seeing Molot T's in a while. Thought they were renamed to Molot MK2.
TheRenegade15 does have some odd setups but if you brainstorm it:
I would in fact consider the Carnage and Rog builds as not outrageous as they are just mixed ranges but not weapon types. Basically a Plasma Carnage and Rocket Rog. In fact the Carnage could possible be quite a shrewd build and powerful build for certain situations. In both cases there is a mix of heavy upfront damage combined with 'finish them off' weapons.
Even the Stalker is not a useless build by any means. It is a non-confrontational build as it is anyway quite impossible to confront with a Stalker anyway. So Spirals for non-direct strikes and a Magnum for distraction/hassling.
However the Galahad would be quite difficult to use. Forgetting the Aphid briefly, it is impossible to aim both the Taran and Pinata at once against a strafing target. I do not see what use this build can be.
I do not like Canciller's Natasha and Griffin setups. Don't see the advantage in the at all.
I personally run a mixed range Plasma Golem - i.e. Zeus, Taran, Magnum. Only the Zeus is out of place. It works because with the Golem you often have to cornershoot, so I find myself either firing the Zeus only, or all three weapons at once. I find it to be an effective build.

I noticed it too. It isn’t just weird weapon arrangements but also bad strategy too. They aren’t newbies either. I am almost thinking the player pool might be shrinking and the matchmaker needs to reach further up and down the league to start games. I hope not though.

One of the few times I mix weapons is when I don't have enough of one weapon or that one weapon is stronger than the rest that I want. For instance, I built a Leo Thunder with Mags but I substituted a Gecko for one of the Mags because that Gecko was leveled higher. In my case, the Gecko had farther range and more dps than the Mag it replaced so why not?
I have seen more Taran/Orkan combos lately. That would pretty much cover the range of enemies so that you are not totally ineffective against any particular bot (except an Ancilot). Not something I would do but I could see why they do it.

I've done the taran orkan setup on an ancilot. Wasn't strategic, I had an orkan lvled higher. It did work fairly well, the taran continuous fire was nice and being able to damage shield bots with the orkan was a definite plus. It wasn't better than the taran or orkan exclusive build though. Just not enough firepower one way or the other. Basically turned it into a close range support bot

With the MK2 update, the morons had to switch Punisher T and Molot T back to Punisher T and Molot T. They had to, or they'd be confusing. Is a "Molot Mk2" a light Molot that's been levelled to Mk2, or a medium twin version? The moronic thing was changing those names from "... T" originally, back in their "remove anything resembling setting or back-story then oversimplify the 「dookie」 out of everything remaining to remove any intimidating appearance of 'depth' that might deter the lower IQ range of new players most susceptible to our planned upcoming monetisation strategies" phase from about a year ago. They give their planning phases really long names over at Pixonic.

I don’t see any mix weapons in iOS Champions League, played ~10 games everyday. If I see one, I guess his level 12 Orkans/Taran at MK2 level 1 and upgrading, any level 12 weapon is better in that case.

I saw a fair amount of mix load outs in D2 iOS and then a little less in E2. My theory is it’s long timers who play casually, or don’t subscribe to traditional load outs. In battle I see mixed weapons pilots do a lot of selective corner shooting or shooting over cover using the various ranges to their advantage. .
The middle leagues have more odd hangars than 1 or 3 - including some level 11/12 Golems, Boas and other legacy bots. I found it odd that they were so high in leagues but always right in the middle - maybe a sweet spot that neither sinks (due to skill developed over time) nor climbs (less overall damage output than meta builds).
I have even seen high level (11/12) 3 and 4 slot hangars in E2. Always scratched my head at them because at those levels it has to be intentional vs poor planing/Au saving.

I came across a guy with a Boa Hydra Thunder, standing at the back of Shenzen piff-piffing away. iOS Expert, no idea what he had in mind... But my best is a Leo with a Magnum, Spiral, Molot and a Treb - how do you even drive that thing?

I thought I had seen a post or two about people advocating these types of setups. Like the post on here wasn’t advocating but mentioned that some people on Reddit(?) were. That’s one of the reasons this sparked my curiosity. I saw a fair amount of mix load outs in D2 iOS and then a little less in E2. My theory is it’s long timers who play casually, or don’t subscribe to traditional load outs. In battle I see mixed weapons pilots do a lot of selective corner shooting or shooting over cover using the various ranges to their advantage. . Pretty much my best guess too and I can totally relate to it, actually. I play more than casually, but I stay in D2 with level 8 & 9 gear by design with no desire to move up. My goal in the game is to own enough gear to be able to run every bot with every weapon setup. I had just never considered running the mix-match ones and would at least, keep the ranges close. You’re spot-on with the “sweet spot” players you mentioned. I too, see the 3-4 slot high level hangars & a lot of non-meta bots. Similar to what I’m trying to do. I really DON’T enjoy using a lot of meta gear. I only have 2 Orkans in my hangar. I’m sick of the same old crap. So I’m working on setting up some medium and light bots. It’s not that I want to use these bots to stay where I’m at in the leagues. It’s that I want to stay where I’m at in the leagues so I can use these bots. I don’t see myself mixing ranges though.

Since the beast that has been War Robots 3.0 or "The Dark Age", I too have noticed this xXrobotrippinXx and suspect it is due to the availability of some weapons, absence of Ag for upgrading weapons to effective levels, the strategy of finding loadouts that can cause damage to Meks with different types of shields or maybe a combination of all those reasons.

More that since they don’t seem to have any BM equipment or Mk2 promotions it really doesn’t matter what they put on. Results will be the same. Rather than competitors hangars like the ones shown have become target holders dropping silver when shot.

I find it hilarious when a hybrid setup comes at me shooting all of it's bells and whistles doing little damage while I just stand there laughing my 「bum-bum」 off.

Some of those builds actually fool me, like when I'm in a thunder Carnage, a Griffin with one Tulumbas and two pinatas and an orkan appears, fires the Tulu so I rush thinking it's a RDB then I get crushed, same for the guys that put a random Gekko, makes me think it's a treb/gekko Natty if I'm not looking at it, it also annoys me a lot to see the HP draining slowly in some maps.

Then the Fujin puts up his shield, against Tarans! Then he died! We would have won if he hid as there only < 10s left in the match, and we were up on beacon bar. The number of mistakes he made was astounding.

Expert - Champ matches act like one big league anyway. Full disclosure: I’m in Expert 2 so I’m sure that I have some bias

There's still lotta Experts that don't know what beacons are. It kinda proves you can make it up all the way to the top without knowing what you're doing. You would think after losing hundreds if not thousands of matches, they would start to wonder what the beacon bar is and how it works. Same with getting shot and hurt using an Ancile bot, and not figuring out that something is up with their "shield" and it doesn't work the way they think.
