No, this isn't my swan's song.
I just wanted to post a word of thanks to those of you who're valiantly trying to remember that there are good and fun parts of this game, still, despite the obvious issues with it. As some of you have mentioned, it's a real downer to come to the forum and be barraged by negativity all the time. It only gets harder as some people make myriad posts of the same stuff that already exist rather than just add to what's already there. It's easy to just see the wall of hate and dismay.
It's easy to forget that you don't have to embrace the meta to succeed, you don't have to lift someone's wallet to do some real damage, that you shouldn't get fixated on your league rating, that there are intelligent ways to address an OP mech/weapon, and that there are some truly awesome people both ingame and in the forum.
Who knows what the future will present with the game. Even Pixonic doesn't fully know that. We also don't know what will happen with BoT.
We know what we have now. We also have some very insightful people coming to the forum and are blessed that they willingly share for the benefit of the community. Some have left and that is both their and our loss.
Let's not lose sight on what can be had right now even with all the issues. You can now run custom games to your heart's content. Leverage the community here as a reprieve from banging your head against the MM wall. There are still some great clans full of awesome people both on and off the forum.
There's still a lot of fun to be had. Don't forget that.

A great man once said, "I say stuff. Once in a while it's marginally useful."
This appears to be that 'Once' of which he spoke. Well said sir. Nice thread.

I agree that you don't need deep pockets to be successful at this game. In the end, it comes down to skill more than anything else.

I am one of these negative people you speak of. But I do try to keep my comments mostly in threads that already exist, unless it doesn't seem to fit in any of the currently active ones. I also generally try to include suggestions on how things can get better, although I'm running thin on that lately. The last thing I always try to consider and mention in my posts is that not everyone shares the same perspective as me. And that is completely fine. It's really a lost art in our society as a whole today, and but one that I can proudly say most of our small community still appreciates. Disagreements are part of any community, like I personally don't believe there is much good left in this game (at my skill level). But I definitely agree and am glad you pointed out that custom games are an alternative. Play with your friends and set your own rules. I love that solution, and love that it's available now. So there - something I like about the current state of the game. Still not going to play . But this was a nice post.

I personally agree; the game is still the same experience. My problem lies in the adoption of the extremely predatory monetizing of gambling psychology. I’m struggling with the idea that even playing the game right now validates their decisions to some degree. I like the game, I still play but that thought is always on my mind.

There are posts that awaken duty, honor and steadfastness in a man. Made by those many would gladly follow into battle.... that was almost it, Poopface. Still, great message. One worthy of emulating.

I personally agree; the game is still the same experience. If it was the same experience, the negativity wouldn't be here. The new content has dramatically changed the game and it is the root of the negatively. Some people express their opinion of the new content better than others. But while we don't know exactly what will happen, we can predict with a high degree of accuracy based on similar events of the past (it is why history class is so important!). So let's not ignore the lessons of the past, this is the wrong direction for the game and we need to never stop saying that until it changes. I'll leave the rest of that for another thread, but this quote from Mark Cuban speaks volumes: "Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I’m just telling you, when you’ve got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That’s rule No. 1 of business."But poopface is right about the fact there is a lot of fun to be had with the game. But let's make sure we're keeping up the good fight to ensure this game doesn't get slaughtered. Let's not accept Pay to Win.

For me the game is in hiatus. I have not played it for a while at least for the public servers and today makes it a week. I am only playing the test server now.
From the game point of view I still have no reason to quit. My damage is still going up and I still have a positive ratio in wins. I prefer to play in a lower level league where there is greater variety and easier to control my costs. I don't have to worry about the need to "tank" later. In the lower level, you don't see much K-bots and Inquisitors and more often the only K-bot I see is the one I have.
What really bothers me about the game is that it is losing its tactical "texture". It feels like its blasting away with your Orkans. The more Orkans you have in your garage, the better it is. Drop or rush and spray, drop or rush and spray. The game is now about mounting the most powerful weapon on the most powerful bots. Its becoming black or white, not differing shades of grey. The solution to winning is no longer subtle and skillwise, but becoming clear in one simple direction with one simple means with no unpredictability at all.
