Rules of Survival on both android and ios. It's a pubg clone but done very well. It's the only other game I play now. The aiming is very similar to War Robots and I like how you start with nothing and have to find weapons and outlast 120 players. Very fun.

Total War: Arena
I know the game is a totally different genera from War Robots, but the mentalities of the two games are very similar; Each player control 3 units on the battlefield, and your goal is either destroy all the reds or control their base, just like domination mode in War Robots and because there are 10 players on each team, so it required more collaboration among players. Luckily players can use in-game text chat, put exclamation marks on mini-map or just draw pictures on the ground using pencil tool to notify teammates of ambushing forces or incoming cavalry charge. The game is free-to-play, and not pay-to-win at this point. The things you can get with real money are cosmetic, unlocking commanders or recruiting premium units, which are actually weaker than normal units but required no upkeep fee, and you can unlock them with grinding as well. If you are interested, try it now. There's a open week event so everyone can play the game without closed-beta key and win some premium units for free.

Out of curiosity I tried Mechwarrior on Steam. I had the really OLD version of Mechwarrior 3D that came packaged in a VooDoo 3dfx video card. It was the originator of 3D graphics. Anyway, the Steam version was a bit too complex for me. I was able to jump into War Robots and start playing right away. Not with Mechwarrior. It's a rather complex system. Probably best played with a joystick.

For me what’s makes War Robots is the pace and Rock Paper Scissors strategy. GoB looks nice and I like the big open world of RoS but both move characters so fast, they’re twitch based and so don’t scratch that War Robots itch.
The closest War Robots like mobile game I’ve played is Battle Bay. It’s boats instead of robots, the visuals are nice, and there’s good stalking, engagement, and teamwork. Played it for several months and liked it a lot, a close second to War Robots, made it to the middle of the league pack, however the last couple weeks I’ve lapsed. Started running into too many OP 2 shot players and I find the controls clumsy, but at first it was really fun.

As for alternative games, not necessarily of a robot kind, I also play Fire Emblem Heroes, and this is a real whale gacha game. I do try to get the ones I really want for as minimal expense as possible.
Today is a big day for FEH, 2.0 has just came out and a new chapter for the RPG. it also has an important new character.
I made my rolls and I got Fjorm!! That really makes me happy.
