Hi, with the looming changes in matchmaking we may have to think fundamentally different in upgrade strategy. Those of us not sitting at a 10/12 hangar, that is I'm fairly new to the game and have a 4/6 class hangar. I don't use a Golem yet, but I wonder if it might be worth to develop at least one? It takes less than 5 days to upgrade to level 12, and ends up at 132k HP and 42 speed. That's almost as many HPs as a Natasha, Fury or Butch at level 12, with superior speed and a smaller frame - in less time than it takes to upgrade a Trident or KWK from level 11 to level 12. Is it worth it though? Why the disparity to a robot like the Patton or Boa? They take about 3 weeks of upgrade time. Best, F.

Best, F. imo better than Patton, about on par with the Boa. no bot in silver (your level, M4/6) can handle the mid range as well as the Golem can. Rocket Golems absolutely dominate 500m, so if you're looking for a silver tier invest me I'm escort, the Golem is a great idea.

I second that. Rocket golem absolutely rules!

I just got my first sues through mas event and threw it on a lvl 4 golem with two Molots, and WOW! Great midranger. Stay out at 550+ and deliver constant stream of damage.

Tulumbas/CRV Pin Griffins are pretty good for midrange splash.

I'm in low silver right now I guess. Current hangar is 2 Gepards (Aphid/Mag), Boa (Thunder/Orkan), Galahad (Mag/Taran) and Fuji (Taran/Orkan), and so far this is a lineup that I really like and would expect to carry me through silver. (Won the Fujin in the Xmas event, and found it to be quite nice.)
But I do sorely miss a mid-to-long range fighter for maps like Yamantau and Springfield, and I might swap out the Boa for a rocket Golem. As WSP points are a bottleneck at the start, I have yet to buy my first Trident - so far I followed the WSP guide and bought Mags and Tarans. Tridents are next, because I'm afraid that a Rhino would bring me too close to gold tier.

If your Galahad is not level 1, you are not in low silver

Yeah, my Galahad is 2/6 right now, which should be mid silver. I really don't care if I'm in low or mid silver, I currently have a success rate north of 70% so I guess I'm doing OK. But I'm still in a tier where I too often see 2-3 of my teammates start firing Zenits and Noricums at the start of the battle - a well, that's always a fun sight. I should put a heavy robot in my hangar just to push those suckers to the front Edit: Bought one long-range Golem and found the snatch. In silver you always seem to have too few knife fighters, at least at the moment. Maybe due to the event that is handing out Zenits and Noricums, those "sit back and hit fire button for futility" guys can be seen more often, so it rarely makes sense to add another one.

The reason that golem has such short upgrade times is because they never changed the upgrade times and cost when they changed all of the other bots

no bot in silver (your level, M4/6) can handle the mid range as well as the Golem can. Pedant reporting in! Beg to differ, the Zeus Golem and Zeus Carnage (yes, these can function at Low Silver, but are rather restrictive to the rest of your hangar) are superior to the Rocket Golem due to the meta of Low Silver. You would be throwing in valuable Au which could be used for slots, Orkans, Aphids, Galas or Furies though, so yes it's much less common and not quite as sensible. But ignoring progression and for the sake of being exact, the Rocket Golem is outperformed by these two within Last Stand.

Just buy a Vityaz, its better, more health and more speed than Golem or a Boa, Golem is useless, rather use a RDB than a Rocket Golem, TOP Golem also isnt as good as a Thunder/Pinata Vityaz or Thunder/Orkan Boa

Just buy a Vityaz, its better, more health and more speed than Golem or a Boa, Golem is useless, rather use a Russian Death Button than a Rocket Golem, TOP Golem also isnt as good as a Thunder/Pinata Vityaz or Thunder/Orkan Boa sorry but this is bad advice. The golem has more firepower than a vityaz, and due to the extra burst damage of the orkan, would win against a pinata/thunder vit. Vit and golem have the same speed. Thunder/orkan boa would win against the TOP Golem head to head, only because the boa has a very large health pool and could survive the initial rocket salvo of the TOP Golem. If you are looking for pure firepower in a robot, go TOP Golem, if you are looking for a strong all round knife fighter that can really take a beating, go for the Boa. Also as far as a midranger goes, the trident/tulumbas/CRV Golem trumps the CRV/Trident Vityaz assuming you can utilise the reload times of all the weapons on the golem correctly, if you are finding that too hard, the trident/crv vityaz or the CRV Patton is the way to go in terms of a low tier midranger.

Yea have you tried to one on one a Thunder/Pinata Vityaz using a TOP Golem? Well the Golem loses, On paper the Golem wins by about 15k health, but factoring in human error and different skill levels, the Vityaz's health pool is just higher than the Golem's even though the Golem has better firepower, this battle goes down to the wire but the Vityaz ends out winning most of the times from what I've seen. The Vityaz has 12k more health than the Golem at max level which is more than enough to survive and the full salvo as Orkans take longer to unload, compared to Pinatas (this is taking into account that the battle goes perfectly), they are both good bots but many prefer the extra durability because of the meta nowadays in the lower tiers. Also I never said anything about the Vityaz being better at the Golem in long range, I just said the RDB is a better choice or as you said the Pin Patton A great defense is a great offense, and it also seems the Golem has a slightly larger hitbox I think as I kill Golem's way quicker in my Carnage Thunder compared to Vityaz's, maybe its that extra 12k health but the Golem dies way earlier. You can just say, oh the Golem has more firepower and on paper it wins, so its better than the Vityaz, no, you have the factor in human error and the margin of error, you can make a mistake with the Vityaz and have a higher chance of escaping than the if you had a Golem due to higher health. If this post is just talkng about which is better on paper then choose the Golem, but overall the Vityaz is a better choice IMO, the extra health is more helpful than the extra firepower and that smaller hitbox could be more helpful if you are fighting other

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU MAX EITHER OUT?
Srsly. Neither one of those is a boa, much less a griff or other shiny viable bot.

In the grand scheme of things, 4.5 days of upgrade time is not much. And it does give you a pretty strong robot, at least on paper. Can't do it right now because it would push me into gold, but once the new MM is out I might work a L12 rocket golem into my lineup.

The Vityaz and Golem are both not viable in gold. Wouldn't even bother upgrading them past level one these days.
