This is a list of all known most powerful meta setups that the game has had since I started playing around a year and a half ago.
Please chose the three that you have experienced to be or think would be the hardest to defeat.
The Higher/Lower corresponds to the tiers.
They are ordered roughly in terms of date. However, the separate tiers are divided into differing categories.
The numbers correlate roughly to the timeframe.
Yes, the punisher Rog was useful at some point and the aphid pat was useful in a time long before the recent aphid buff
Just because a meta bot is not on here does not mean that it is not a meta bot, simply that it isn't the strongest meta bot anymore.

I'll try to give some context of the abilities of the bots listed then.
Molot Griffin - Even if you were to start out at 500m, it could cut you down before you got within 200m of it. And it could junp.
Kang dae Fury - Basically a treb fury, but in an era of the game where there were more long range maps than short range, shields except for the ecu and anicle didn't exist, and it had a 15 sec reload instead of 23 sec.
Punisher Rog - The punishers used to do damage on par with plasma. The average bot health was lower back then as well. No bots had more than 150k health except for the leo.
Aphid patton - It basically had the same accuracy that it has now, but the average bot speed was 8 kmph slower and there were no shield bots.
Thunder Orkan Boa - The thunder Orkan boa was the second fastest medium back then while being able to carry the third highest amount of firepower for a medium and having heavy bot level health that exceeded all but one of the heavy bots. It was a 「gosh darn 」 mbt on legs.
Plasma Griff - Back then, not a lot of people had aqquired the rhino yet and tarans unloaded in 7 sec instead of 10 sec. This setup did 180k dmg in 7 sec, essentially nullifying the previous meta.
Taran Rog - Back then, players were looking to put as many tarans as possible in their hangar, and the rog, griff, and rhino were the only bots with multiple medium slots. Not a lot of people had gotten the rhino yet either. The rog also had decent health back then, and amazing speed, so many people used it as a beacon capper in many tiers.
I'll add more later.

Boas and Rogs were king back in the day too... There'd be players running full hangars of them.

Plasma Death Button Rhino - Was basically the plasma griff but almost two times faster and with a shield. Basically directly countered the plasma griff and plasma rog.
Death Button Rhino - Was the goto shield bot destroyer for close range. And bots were slower back then so there weren't problems with bots backtracking rockets.
Trident Fury - Basically the same as it is now.
Thunder Orkan Lancelot - One of the few bots that can destroy multiple shield bots in a row.
More later.

Taran rog was a BEAST! I used to gaze in wonder ?. Was my first gold purchase and even with the nerfs over time I still find myself going back to it ? I have run it with punishers, Molots, orkins, and tarans and it always comes through.

I never recall Kang furies ever being part of the meta, and I barely remember seeing any furies at all in the early days of the game. Back then there weren't any daily tasks and all gold had to either be bought or earned, and only the players who regularly got top damage could get enough gold without paying to afford a Fury, and even those who could afford one didn't run a Fury because there weren't any good weapons for it before the Trident was released.

When did you start playing?

I'm not exactly certain, but I think it was at some point between update 0.8.6 and 0.8.7 because the Zenit was available but DC was not out yet when I started. I got into high silver around a month before update 0.9.0.

Ah, the kang dae fury was in the meta from around the fury's introduction in 0.6.1 to the kang dae nerf in 0.9.0
The beacon bar ran faster back then, so it was usually used in clans.
If I remember correctly, the Zeus fury wasn't used as much because of its cost and need to heat up its targets.
Adrian probably also knows a bit about it.

I don't recall Furies being meta until the Tri-Zeus --- but that didn't last long. I had 5 Boas before the Rhino and then Rhinos after they became meta. The most notorious meta I've ever seen was the Mag-Stalker. Like the Mag Gepard is now but much worse since both Stalker and Mags are free, many pilots had 3-5 of them and you'd see them all the way up to low gold. You'd see multiples of them in every match until Pix upped them in MM and put in its place the Gepard.

Strayed, you forgot the Leo Gekko/Zeus. That was a beast around the time we started. Damage multiplied the hotter the target got. Built mine just as the gekko was nerfed.

Only 2 votes for me, Trident Fury and Plasma Galahad. 3rd vote will be Trident CRV Natasha after v2.5 if it is as fast as Fury. At 30kph, you can't walk it down with either Rhino or Griffin before it kills you. Galahad and Gareth will get nearly smoked in 1 volley, so they can't walk it down either.

Also, you are missing 3 forms of Carnage under higher tier. Those things are all over the place.

Hm, since I won a Rogatka, I might try a Taranosaurus Rog. The Rog get buffed, soon, when I remember correctly...

The Rogatka, I think, will never be able to compare unless it had the jump cooldown of a Cossack.

You think so? With two Tarans, one would think, its competitive enough...

Galahads cost the same amount of gold, have about the same amount of health, a shield, and about the same firepower. The shield is the big game changer though, as it can get block the frequently used Plasma nowadays.

I have to agree with Fiexpoint, the Rog is doesn't make sense unless a BIG buff is put in place --- like upping the HP to say 165K, increasing the speed to 50KPH and jump cooldown in half. Any half measure buffs would not make the bot more desirable that the Galahad or Doc (which is probably going to cost 2500-3000AU). I think that Pix will not but in a buff as big as I stated, so I'd say the Rog will stay an obsolete bot in high gold/top tier.

Rogs are fast, but not fast to dodge Orkans without jumping, while the Galahad can by dropping its shield, and I have seen more than one Rog get annihilated by rockets while waiting for their jump to recharge. Two medium hardpoints of anything other than Tarans or Orkans is inadequate against most high tier targets, and the Rog is too squishy to compete with the big boys, especially at close range. There's a reason that Galahads are a lot more common than rogs up top.
