I know I would be in a hard fight if I spot 2/3 furies + Natasha on Canyon. I had a match yesterday with 1 TT fury, 1 zeus fury and 1 treb+laser natasha. They also have a couple ancilots and a RDB so that we lose center beacon first.
I guess my question is what everybody usually do in this situation. I did my usual thing, I jump into my Thunder carny, sneak over and killed the natasha and damaged the Zeus fury. Then I drive over with my plasma Rhino to kill the zeus fury (revenge kill I guess) and chase the TT fury to hide. However, I lose both of my bots relatively quickly since I have no teammate support deep inside the enemy territory. My reasoning is, if I take out their support cast, our knifers would have a better time getting the center beacon back. I have used this flanking strategy to better effect before, takes out a couple support bot out with carnage.
I end up meched out early. We lost. Did I make the correct decision? Is there a better strategy if one encounters such situation again?

vinceh do you remember (1) what robots your allies have, and (2) what those allies were trying to do while you were doing this?

vinceh do you remember (1) what robots your allies have, and (2) what those allies were trying to do while you were doing this? Guess that's where I could improve. The other blues, as I can see, are mostly concentrate on our side of supporting area. A couple were pushing for red's side beacon. By the time I am in my carnage, I am not sure what they are doing. I play solo, so no comm or anything.

Tempest and/or Molot builds are good for countering TT or Zues Furys as you have range on them. But that assumes you have leveled weapons you can swap in, and those builds are more situational than your Rhino or Carnage. What you did is about what I would have with my current hangar - approach energy MR with a shield bot and try to flank MR splash with either a light bot using cover or a nimble MR like Carnage Trident or Zues.

Better to sneak around with Aphid Jesse or the Orkan Rog on that map. They're quicker and more agile. Wait a lot and use cover well watching for when your targets' sights are aimed elsewhere. If not, gotta trick them into firing, evade, then go while they're weapons are on cooldown. Jesse and Rog are very good at evading incoming fire. That is why they're ideal for sneaking around on canyon, I find.
Also, well positioned Rdb's do very well here too. One main issue is a lot of pilots stay in center too long when it isn't safe to, so it becomes a meat grinder similar to center beacon on Yamantau. If heavy red presence, reduce threat before grabbing center, or grab and withdraw quickly.

Good question. I prefer to get beacons first then defend them. I would rather toss a bot away securing a beacon, than toss a bot away trying to get at a long range bot.
One thing is almost certain...Natasha's and Fury's very rarely cap center beacons. So if you can secure and defend, they will be forced to eject and jump in a knife fighter to have a chance to win the match. At that point your mid and long range teammates get to tee off and it can be a game of knife fight vs knife fight (but with the blue bar tipping to your side)

If you are lucky, someone will come with you.

The best way to counter them is patton gekko or Griffin molot (best and cheap)

Best counter I've found is to just cap three beacons then retreat to cover. Let them fire away and lose because they aren't doing the objective. Just focus on the couple knifers they have who actually are doing it. Works about 90% of the time.

Is there a better strategy if one encounters such situation again? Unfortunately, there's not much you could have done in your situation. Canyon is the best map for mid-range setups and access to 4 beacons are in the range of a TT Fury situated in the area around the dry riverbed just a short walk from the spawn. With all that MRS the reds and the fact that your team had to attack because center was lost early, there was not much that could have changed the outcome save a coordinated push of Ancilots supported by Molot, Hydras, or RDB setups. This will all change once the Korean bots ----- but for the worse on Canyon. Randoms will stand zero chance of overcoming multiple Tri-Scourge Bulgasari bots covering the side and center beacon approaches. 3-4 Scourge Bulgies on a squad can shut down an entire team of randoms on Canyon easily while the other 2-3 of their teammates just do minimal work.
