I don't have any long range builds. Tried a fairly ineffective one when I was starting out and decided it wasn't for me and focused on brawlers mid range and my do what ever needs doing Rog.
Nothing has changed in my mindset, really don't think I want to be a sniper, but I do want to win, I do want to do what needs doing for the team. Plus I am seeing loads more long range builds around the place, my percention is that sometimes they are effect on some maps but on the whole seldom game winners. Also the event has given me some new toys which at present may never see the light of day. I don't have, nor do I have any intention of getting a Fury or a Butch, but I do have Leo's and Natasha's (the ones with the fancy paint), three gekkos and a newly gifted Treb. I have the the WSP for a second if I want it and have a patton and just about enough gold to get a forth gekko, and mollots coming out of my arse. So plenty of options, but nothing is leveled to any extent and it would take time and Ag to get them on par with the current 9/9 hanger.
Just not sure if I should bother?
Any thoughts?

I'm assuming that you'll require mobility.
I run a L4 Rogatka with L12 Molot Mk2's. The 'Molots can tear down a L9 Leo in a clip and a half. The mobility of the Rogatka lets me keep out most weapons ranges and flank Opponents or wear them down for the Team.
I highly recommend this setup.

Never heard of that one before, but a second (and then a third Rog) popped out of chests earlier in the week. I have been kind of looking for an excuse to use them.

IMO, the best quasi-sniper/Midrange build you can use is a Twin Zeus Carnage. Very good mobility, in-built Ancile for those pesky rockets/Missiles and hefty, nigh-unavoidable damage all at 600metres...aaaand I sound like a Zeus-Carnage salesman.

Have one of them, he is pretty good, was considering the merits of the proper 1,000 meter set ups, where you are just shooting at red dots. as if to tempt this just popped up......

The Molots don't do eneough damage and have too small a clip to have value over other rog setups.

For true sniping, trebs are the best weapon for over 600m. There isn't a platform besides a fury or butch I'd recommend putting them on, but if you had to, a natasha with laser pointers would technically "snipe", altho I'm toying with the idea of a raijiin and 2 tempest. Seems like it could be "fine" in a field full of trebs.

I can tear down multiple Opponents and engage Snipers and foxhole bandits. Granted it's a small clip and you have to stay on the move and be smart but the damage output can be huge.

In general, mid range and brawler builds are the best way to win. At top level, you'll rarely see snipers on the opposing side. Mid range rules. I have heard that they're going to significantly increase the strength of molots and punishers, however (by 15%?). They're also going to increase the power of Orks by 15% though, too. If you want to continue to improve, there's nothing better than forcing yourself to push hard after beacons with brawlers and complementing with hybrid midrange like RDB's.

In the upper tiers there are enough Trebuchet Furys to say it is definitely a viable build for sniping. As a frequent victim of said weapon, they put the hurt on you! Early on I purchased a Trebuchet because I had to see & try this weapon for myself a long long time ago. I just could & can not wait around for the full charge (play style etc...)
The Zeus Carnage is also very effective & will be my next build depending on release of new bots etc....
I went mid-range with Trident Fury and it is still very effective. I like the splash effect and not having to lock on target (Zeus).
With all that said, there is new update coming 2.9.2 - that will increase ALOT of weapon damage. There is a thread with details.

I've tried the Molot Rog and it is just too under powered for Masters/Champion league play. The Molot Galahad makes more sense since it has good speed, more firepower, and a good shield that thwart the return fire of a red Treb/Gekko or other Molot setup (i.e., you'd beat them easy in a slugging match). The Dash Mk2 with Molots would even be better.

The only long range build I've ever done that I found comfortable enough to use and think was effective was a Fury running three KWK's. I fired them at about 3 second intervals and was able to keep a sustained fire rate on other snipers, thus allowing me to help my team to suppress down the red team. But, overall, I prefer the Gunboat Griff, as that has more versatility and does a good job in keeping the snipers down on the red team.
