This is my first time participating in the test server. I'm on IOS and my pilot name is woodywoodpecker on the test server if you want to come get some.
quick observations:
The new aiming is lame especially lock on. It is clunky and does not allow quick cycle through targets like the old manual lock on. It's harder to precisely target specific bots if they are clustered together. This is a big step backwards in my opinion.
The dashes aren't as overpowered as I thought. The MK 2 with the built in energy field is very nice but also fragile.
Lancelot is still as relevant as ever and a 2x scourge 1x zeus or 2x scourge/ancile lancelot eats dashes for breakfast. There was a couple games where I was being assaulted on all side by dashes at various ranges from 400-600 and I easily held them off.
Rocket meta has more or less balanced itself out. The mid range rdb is not as good in this new meta for sure. Griffin role is greatly reduced with all the long range energy, dash, and shields being used.
Mk 2 with orkans isnt the lancelot killer you think it is because lancelots can absolutely curb stomb them with scourge/ancile or scourge/zeus setups before they even get close.
galahads still have a place on the battlefield because you see a lot more energy weapons.
MK 1 dash is fun but super fragile. It's better than the rog overall. That double dash and quick recharge is pretty nice.
Zenits are annoying and still have limited purpose in breaking treb campers and center beacon campers. The damage buff makes it better but still very limited.
Tempest is garbage. Tried it on fury and it's just not all that good since you need to stay on the target and fury is ill equipped to stay out in the open long. Burst damage weapons will eat you alive.
MK 3 with taran or scourges are surprisingly very useful as a fellow dash hunter. MK 2 can destroy it with orkans but MK3 is pretty agile for a heavy bot and can win knife contests before MK2 can close in.
Patton 4x geckos works against dashes but at lvl 8 its effectiveness is limited to just a few maps.
All types of zeus setups work reasonably well against dashes.

I'm concerned about the rogatka. While I was about to duel pretty well with the mk1 on moon (and win) I just couldn't escape the mk2 on DC. A serious buff is needed to the rogatka in order to keep it relevant like HP,speed, etc. Tried stalker, but pretty vulnerable due to the rockets flying around. But it has decent survivability as the dash bots have high mounted weapons.

Rog and griffin are both going to take a huge hit when the dash bots go live. I couldn't find any battle role that rog could do well on the test server. It's simply outclassed. Same goes with the griffin. It's pretty much obsolete with dashes on the field.
The jump can't compete with rockets + speed + shields. The griffin looks like it's moving in slow mo on the ground and in the air.

That would be a crying shame as the more I think about the Griff - which I initial hated - the more I think it's the best bot ever created!! I mean 1.7m silver and it's a mainstay of even TT hangers. Weapon load out and variety. The jump. And that lime skin And has helped many a free playing playa compete until the highest levels.

I don't believe the griffin will ever be displaced. It's ability to load both medium and light hardpoint weaponry gives it longevity. If the dashes really become a big threat you're just gonna see more Griffins with scourges, that's all. The ability to have all needed load outs in the game with a built in 'get out of dodge' ability is too good- especially because it's basically for free ( as a silver bot).
The only other heavy bot with such an adaptable load out can't turn and can't fire it's full weaponry at all times ( rhino). More importantly, the dashes don't actually bring superior firepower ( just the same) with higher maneuverability. Depending on price it might not even matter.

Test server play isn't the end all be all since people can load up on 4 different dash builds in one hanger but Griffins are just far too slow to compensate for the base dash speed, ability, and shielding. Especially the MK 2 and MK 3 which just flat out own griffins.
A scourge griffin can output respectable damage but when they are getting flanked and ambushed (which happens a lot with dashes) their reaction time is too slow to compensate.

Played last night - really don't like the scourge. It's like a button masher on Street fighter - ie don't aim just fire weapons and hope! Heavy weapon makes a great noise but not my favourite compared to trident etc. Dashbots - it all depends on how Pix try and sell them. Sure I'll buy one if they are good value - and right now "good value" is about 750 au for a light Dashbots and max 3000 for heavy.

This is my first time participating in the test server. I'm on IOS and my pilot name is woodywoodpecker on the test server if you want to come get some. quick observations: The new aiming is lame especially lock on. It is clunky and does not allow quick cycle through targets like the old manual lock on. It's harder to precisely target specific bots if they are clustered together. This is a big step backwards in my opinion. Agree, the washed out colors for bot locators blows too. As well as kill log being tiny and at the very bottom of the screen. UghThe dashes aren't as overpowered as I thought. The MK 2 with the built in energy field is very nice but also fragile. Agree, they are all fragileLancelot is still as relevant as ever and a 2x scourge 1x zeus or 2x scourge/ancile lancelot eats dashes for breakfast. There was a couple games where I was being assaulted on all side by dashes at various ranges from 400-600 and I easily held them off. Kinda disagree. Skilled dash pilots chew up ancilots. Once they learn to use cover, surprise and to speed inside the shield. I killed many ancilots solo today. With a buddy or two that have mastered the dash it's lights out for ancilots.Rocket meta has more or less balanced itself out. The mid range rdb is not as good in this new meta for sure. Griffin role is greatly reduced with all the long range energy, dash, and shields being used. I gather you meant missiles.I think it's too early to say that. I watched many dashs getting splattered by rdb's. It's a matter of adjustment on both sidesMk 2 with orkans isnt the lancelot killer you think it is because lancelots can absolutely curb stomb them with scourge/ancile or scourge/zeus setups before they even get close. Proper use of cover then dashing inside the shield works well.galahads still have a place on the battlefield because you see a lot more energy weapons. Definitely agree. Gary's too.MK 1 dash is fun but super fragile. It's better than the rog overall. That double dash and quick recharge is pretty nice. They are indeed fragile. I see em as beacon cappers and flankers akin to the Gary but without a shield. But I wouldn't likely buy one.Zenits are annoying and still have limited purpose in breaking treb campers and center beacon campers. The damage buff makes it better but still very limited. Agree though in the right hands they could be an issue.Tempest is garbage. Tried it on fury and it's just not all that good since you need to stay on the target and fury is ill equipped to stay out in the open long. Burst damage weapons will eat you alive. I didn't like the tempest either though they did seem effective on the Raijin cuz they can just stand there soaking up hits while dealing damage.MK 3 with taran or scourges are surprisingly very useful as a fellow dash hunter. MK 2 can destroy it with orkans but MK3 is pretty agile for a heavy bot and can win knife contests before MK2 can close in. Any bot with tarans was chewing up dashs, and yes the MK3 is nice though with the crappy targeting even with lock on I was having issues engaging targets and using the built in shield at same time because I kept losing lock and it takes time to reaquire target with the scourge. If they can fix this I'd buy one. Patton 4x geckos works against dashes but at lvl 8 its effectiveness is limited to just a few maps. AgreeAll types of zeus setups work reasonably well against dashes. Agree
Appreciate the in depth analysis and time you took to write this up. Hope to see you on the field of battle. Cheers!

^^ I also solo ancilots regularly with my mini db gareth.
I see your point though. After playing a bit more today i'm starting to change my mind and I think the dashes are in fact pretty overpowered.
I've been keeping track of hanger total damage and map domination on test server. The setups which consistently have 800k+ damage are those running 4-5 dashes. It's not even close in most cases. The gap between guys running current meta bots and dash meta bots is too significant and wide to ignore.

I did this damage while screwing around only running two dashes in the hangar (a MK III with tarans and MK II with orkans.) Most of the damage came from the dashes and lancelot with scourge. I'm certain now dashes are way overpowered. If I had a 5 dash hangar like some guys i'm sure I could do over a million average.

I was using a 5 dash hangar and was posting 800k damage regularly.
They are total game changers... all of them. That being said, I am all for the change. The bots represent an awesomely fun way to play that is faster and much more frantic. They represent a way more fun way of playing. I don't think they will break anything terribly badly though, Missiles get an indirect nerf because of Haechi so Plasma makes a comeback and I can see the Brit bots coming back into play as well... especially with scourge in their little mits.
My only beef is with the scourge, it's aiming function, usable range and monster damage make it a total noob-tube.
Dash Bots
The... ahhh the little.. Is NIMBLE and with 2 mediums it has amazing firepower for a little fella. With Twin Orkans it's 「gosh darn 」 deadly, with everything else it's awesome fun. It's basically a super Rog.
The Haechi is so much fun. Slower than little guy but easily nimble enough to put three orkans or Scourge into an enemy at point blank. Anything without Dash is at a MASSIVE disadvantage against this bot as a knifer. The Ancile is a huge cherry on the top
The Bulgasari is so cool, my very favourite. With three scourge and using target lock you can shield yourself from the bulk of enemy fire while still absolutely pounding them by turning your turret. Your dash allows you to close and ramp up the damage. I had zero problems with Lances of any colour in a Scourge Bulgasari and was able to hold Centre at Shenzen and Yamantau for significant periods in it.
Here's my other thoughts:
- Haechi is strong against missiles weak to plasma. Plasma will make a comeback - Plasma coming back to counter Haechi plus the introduction of scourge MIGHT bring the Britbots back into some favour - Griffin is dead. Haechi and Bulg top it in every way except the Griffins access to height in it's jump. - Fujin is deader. Waaaay deader. 3 Medium hardpoints now available on 2 much better bots. - Zarnage MIGHT struggle to stay relevant as scourge has 600m range and Haechi has all of Zarnages other advantages. The Scourge Haechi (Scourchi? nah..) though, becomes an instant knife fighter at close range where the Zarnage becomes scrap. This depends a lot on scourge damage at release though. - All of the above are dependant on Dashbot availability!
Disclaimer: All the above is the pure guess work of an idiot.

Is the damage negligible at 600m? What impact does it have on physical shields? How does aiming work?

How does aiming work? What current weapon is it similar to? It's similar to a zeus and a gekko. Sustained lightning that does more damage the closer you get. 5 Second recharge. It locks on like a zeus so you can turn and it still hits as long as you keep the target within the brackets. Is the damage negligible at 600m? Nope. It's not huge but, it's crazily sustained. You just pump a near constant stream on lightening into them. What impact does it have on physical shields? Same as plasma. But with three of them firing you can burn shields down pretty well. How does aiming work? As above. It locks on. Target acquisition is slow like a zues. But like a Zeus you can learn to use target lock and switch between targets without breaking lock. If you always have a target lock, you don't have to wait for it to lock onto the next target. It's ready to go. So the lightening can literally jump around. It's mad as hell.
