Ancilot with Punisher mkIIs post 2.9 'Punish(ment)er (de)buff'.
Scourges are still aways away, and Tarans are tops, but getting a little perturbed with the short range of Tarans, tugboat speed with boosts, and constant reloading of Tarans (I know, blasphemy, but I swear to gawd that the damned things are always reloading).
I've read of people using Molots, even recently, but not of Punishers in quite some time (I know it uzed to be used though).
Anyone run one post 2.9?
Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?

I'd be very interested in hearing about this, especially in combination with an ancile. A lot of people mount punishers and pun mk2s on bots that just can't stay out in the open for the extended period of time efficient punisher use often requires. An Ancilot is a bot that could stand and slug it out with a couple of pun mk 2s.

I run an all 8 Puncilot in Gold II. I've run Taran and Orkan at the same levels, and I still dig the Punisher setup. The long reload is killer if you play too aggressively. Also not great for damage totals though draining Anciles for blue rockets is solid team play.
The setup can shine best against Carnages and RDB Griffs with jump on cooldown. Things like Trident/Pin Leos can be great targets too. Struggles with shields most, but can shred Gals and Rhinos really well if you manage to flank them.
I'd say the trickiest thing about piloting this setup is that it tempts you to overextend yourself in order to put the Punishers to work. I've often chased reds around corners with this guy in and ended up getting outnumbered and blown away. This is perhaps the most satisfying rig to make a guns-blazing suicide run in, for better or worse.

Uhnonimis to be fair, Punishers used to be far more potent, and therefore did not require such robust platforms to mounted on, en masse no less, to actually finally be affective. But, yes, the inherent resiliebcy of the ancilot is what has me thinking that maybe it's one of the few remaining platforms Punishers could still be affective on. bastionow I have done a search for this specific combination, but cannot find anything for post 2.9 Punish(ment)er (de)buff. ziglodyte I was actually trying to accomplish the opposite, as the Punishers' extra range would hopefully keep me from rushing off unsupported for a kill with Tarans' 350m range. The 10 second reload is killer I agree if you're in the thick of it.

The 10 second reload is killer I agree if you're in the thick of it. The range is nice because it lets you do something rather than nothing at 350-500, but damage at that range is limited. The best case scenario I've had with this setup has been when I've been able to have a series of one on one's that work out in my favor, with time to reload and recharge shield in-between. At around 200, you can survive a DB barrage and pummel a Griff badly. A Plasma Griff will break your shield but you can get the better of the exchange if you're close enough. Thunder Carnage are rough if they get right in your face, but if you backpeddle their charge you can take them out with one clip as they try to close from 350-100. The range on the Punishers gives them versatility, but if you are really focused on doing a mid-range support tank who doesn't get up close and friendly often, a Tulumbilot would probably perform better.

I currently run 3 lance in my hanger . Plus a quad laser Patton and a Zeus carnage. My rundowns for each: Punisher / thunder This is the one you are wondering about. Honestly it kills things around 350. It shreds fine at 350-500. It's particularly effective against carny / ancilots and and to a lesser degree Galahad. The obvious reason being energy shields are so big they sponge damage up. So none of your ammo is wasted. Galahad you really want to be tearing down that shield asap anyway. It's stronger than yours and I find I often walk away from the fight missing my own. Close range... It goes without saying. Ancilots get wrecked. Orkan wielders get wrecked, butnyou walk away with 50%. Snipers get wrecked Rdb Griffin's wreck you. This is the main bot to predate upon you. And sadly in the current meta missile bots are very common. You have punishers, so at least you can fire back and they are squishy. Puns are particularly good in the way that you usually have some bullets in your belts still and can fling death at anyone foolish to be airborne nearby. If you can catch the griffin close range. Your gonna walk away with with serious damage. You might die. You'll prolly kill the griffin tho. Leo. The Leo lately I've seen the most of is the pin x 3 plus shotty. It's bonus health almost equal your shield. It will die. But not before bruising you. The bane of this mech are pretty clearly pins , tulus + tridents. For this reason I rarely open with it. Tulus are by far the most dangerous, because the reload buff is so damn powerful. Surprisingly I don't fear orkans. If your within 300... I don't often find myself on the losing end of the fight. I ran this guy both post and pre nerf. It wasn't really weak at all pre nerf. The giant Dinosaur with trip tridents was its bane. Tulus that don't allow partial fires were not usually dangerous becsuse they didn't survive the 15 seconds afterwards to gloat. Now you are gonna take substantially more hits. Galahad gets a special mention. You almost always win his fight, but you will come away without a shield. Galahad shield is stronger than yours and they are usually equipped with plasma. Still my favorite bot to run. Thinking about putting a helmet on him. It's main advantage in my eyes is that it rapidly reduces both types of shielding and provides a lot of fire time, at a solid range. Yea it's no taran, but taran range can be skirted and it happens a lot. Taran / helmet Not honestly a fan of the ancilot. But Have to grudgingly give respect where it's due. Tarans do their work, and this guy takes a beating .doesnt really deal well with anything involving a shot gun mounted on top. I really am thinking to swap out the punishers with tarans. The extra range really does help. Orkan / thunder I feel this guy is almost useless. Orkans are just not useful on in a lance. It's too slow to get in range to fire. And it's only real use is against other slow moving lance without anciles. Also Galahad, and those really annoying Gareth. Although i haven't seen many since patch, so I'm only keeping the orkans mounted becsuse I haven't finished leveling some tulus to replace out. I've also tried a Zeus mounted (having won so many spin I wheels last two events) it's a surprisingly effective head mount, and usually provides cover from mid range bots. I was thinking Zeus /. Tulu or trident / tulu or molot Zeus punisher Zeus. I find the Zeus carny to just be there for when they fail to have enough opposing lances on the field. Lastly Patton with flashlights. Really should try it out. A Patton corners on a dime. It's acceleration seems to be very constant . The damage buff to flash lights seems to let me half health anyone with a full charge. Obviously had some issues with the trip treb t-Rex... but you will give as good as you get. Better if He's not at full charge as you. Also I don't mind blowing my Patton on removing the annoyance bots ... pretty much anything with a treb. Anyway. I usually bring the punisher lance out in slot 3 or 4. Situation depending on a) did Patton / carny remove the trident / tulu obstacles. If not , I run the ancilot. If not, the punisher bot comes out. And I proceed to wreck things. Orkan / thunder lance is last. Only as my last resort. Will change later after I finish some tulu

I will often run 3-4 kills, often times gunning down multiple opponents in the same encounter . And then thunders... then again if it's not on top of a lance, you will deal with it. Boa's also seem to be situationally annoying. That's pretty much the purpose of the Patton plus angry bird. Kill the most annoying missile snipers. Then soak up some damage and fltvyiyr mates and die.

I've also been interested in this idea. In the current meta, I really don't see running a Lance without Ancile, unless you are in a well coordinated squad. I spend a lot of time in my RDB and I've killed every lone Lance with a Thunder I've ever seen.
I've only got 1 high level Punisher & 1 leveled mkii. I'm currently using it on a hybrid Griffin, (Half Plasma, Half Punishers) with surprisingly good results. This makes me think, maybe Punishers do need to be combined with another weapon type to take full advantage of it. It's really good against Carny's, Maybe they don't know what to do with it. And it shreds Leos & other Griffs when you can catch them off guard. Plays very much like Plasma Griff, but has the utility of taking down shields as needed, which drives some bots behind cover. I just don't think a full on Punisher Griff would be as good, and I'm not sure this one is as good as a full on plasma Griff.
Also, linearblade said OrkLance is no good, and I disagree. I've been running an Ork Ancilot as my brawler for a while. great battlefield control. If you charge any PlasmaLance you will push him back as far as he will go. Maybe not the king of damage dealing, but really, really good at pushing things around. If I had plasma on it, other Lances would just want to go toe-to-toe.

zman runs one... Or did... Still do and it is a super solid setup up in Masters II on IOS. I've been toying with my second lance which was also a Puncillot, but I decided to mix it up and are playing with Mollot MkIIs waiting for the Tempest Cannon. My second leveled Punisher MkIIs ended up on my redundant Griffin for a change of pace. The 2.9 dip... honestly I didn't notice a reduction in performance, it is still a beat of a bot that can sit at 300-500m and roast lots of bots. Part of me wonders if their was a hidden accuracy boost in there with the reduced fire rate etc. It is a great area control bot, it isn't knife fighter but it is a very solid mid ranger. At lvl 10 each MkII puts out like 112k damage so at close range a Puncillot can take out just about any bot without physcial shield or energy shield. Catch them when the shield is down or turned or blown through any they can eat bots ups. Just takes a bit, and can't be played like a knifefighting bots are. That being said I am anxiously awaiting bullet's increased damage vs physical shields that is supposed to be incoming. If that comes online without a corresponding dip to damage they will be even more solid. Once I can blow through a Lance's physical shield they willb e a nightmare on the battle field. My Puncillot is probably the one setup in my hanger I am least likely to swap out.

zman (and gillur) thank you for the info. I have actually run it for a few games now and am still on the fence about using it. As Zman posted, when you can get a bead on a red at around 400m it is really nice to watch their health just melt. That 10sec reload is killer though, you basically have treat Rush like the Grif's jump and use it for evasive manuevers while reloading because once your Punishers go black, reds are on you like flies on stink. Reallly kills it's traditional brawling use, and I will continue to sub one in for a few more games to wrap my head around it.

It doesn't have to be. It's a midrange scrapper that closes on favorable encounters and skirts and harasses unfavorable. He'll, my second Lance is currently a KangDae/MolotMkII.... trying it out before the Tempest is available and it's a solid mid to long range Bot. Surprising me actually. Love drawing a bead on a Trident/Zues.Treb Fury or any grif etc that hits the open. Debating between Ancill/Molot, Tempest/Molot, or possible the Kang dae Mokot.

linearblade I thank you for the breakdowns, but the specific setup I am asking about is: Lancelot Ancile Punisher MkII Punisher MkII Post patch 2.9 I've tried this, it can work, but it's terribly vulnerable to anything with any sort of shield. It can't really deal with other plasma ancilot, Galahad will defeat it, even Gareth can stop it. You really need to have energy weapons so you can be effective against half of the shielded bots. You really need the thunder or maybe a trident(never tried it) for cracking open shields Otherwise it fails the same way a ancilot does against plasmahads or weapon heavy lancalots, only it now fails against energy shields too.

I experienced exactly what linearblade posted. I myself literally just broke into Diamond 2 this morning and I am running a 9/8 hangar so I am underleveled as well. The only way it worked for me was by giving up the Ancile for a Thunder, which in turn turned me into rocket and missile fodder just like my Galahad.

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone? "— Extra damage to physical shields: Machine guns, Kang Dae and Nashorn are dealing 250% damage to physical shields;" I am actually aware of that possible bonus to 'bullet' weapons. I actually hope it does. OT come to fruition. Rockets and missiles already circumvent physical shields as plasma and lasers circumvent energy shields. What 'bullet' weapons SHOULD be buffed to do, is circumvent missiles and rockets by being able to shoot them down. This maintains a Rock, Paper, Scissors triumvirate.

Diamond 1, all bots level 9, weapons 7 on the lances 8 on the Zeus / patton gekko (I got the lances last event on spins, and only started recently leveling them). It does what the griffon cannot. Take a beating. The lancelots proble in this update is that it's a stationary target for rapidly reloading pins and tulu. With a helmet, it lacks the firepower to compete with griffins / rhinos and has similar hitpoints and the same firepower as a rog (did I mention rogs are ridiculously beefy? But I digress. What "zululot" lacks however it makes up for with its ability to ignore plasma and sniper fire. I could use a different heavy top, but the Zeus serves an important purpose. You can hit jumpers, hedge other tulus, and deal with pesky shield. It's such as the carnage, and the spider bot with 3 mediums. These two bots are dangerous first becsuse carnages often come equipped with shot guns, and the latter becsuse they are often shielded , stationary and equipped with 3x tulu. Neither of these bots have the hitpoints to really deal with repeated Zeus fire. And being that carnages need to charge you and the spider bot stands still, both are vulnerable to shaving away with single Zeus cannon. The biggest threat to the zululot are ironically rogs. They have a ton of hp, come equipped with lots of lanacelot killing weapons, and are hard to hit airborne with tulu. Plus they can almost perms jump. Ancilots are annoying, only if you don't kite them. Snipers.. well you can just ignore them a while until GBP/USD get in range or cover. It takes some practice, but with getting level 8 weapons it's become a killer.

I literally just broke into Masters I on IOS with mine, Puncillot is my strongest Bot at 11/11, and the anchor of my hanger. I'm eunningnunderleveld compared to my opposition and it is my MVP. I'm also running a Lance with Tempest/MollotMkIIs. Honestly, I am not trying to give you a left handed compliment. The setup just did not work for me in Android Diamond 3. Also, I now save the punishalot for my final bot. Typically by then almost of the tulus have been exterminated and the war machine makes short work of anything without missiles.
