Still playing with a plasma Gary in high silver and its still very viable. Just gotta know when to pull it out and where to go. Takes much more tactical awareness than before but, the new meta seems to be stabilizing and diversity is increasing again....that or the wacky MM is allowing Gary to be viable.

Please please please, everyone play their Tulu/Pin or better yet, Tulu/Magnum Gareths as much as possible.
Squat for damage dealing and easily killed so it will squirrel itself away as much as possible to avoid (splash) damage while continuing to 'contribute harrassment damage' for the majority of a match because of how easy it is to do so...
I, for one, welcome our new super shy, low damage dealing red 'frienemies'.
Now, where did my Real Pilots of Genius thread go...

I just don't see what is so much better, at that distance, about having a gareth rather than several other reasonably fast midrange armed bots. An rdb in the same situation can cap beacons, and survive a bit of brawling. A doc seems ideal in this job - but it's expensive. Galahad has an extra pin. Rog can do two tulus. (Or a tulu and a taran...). I think probably golum / patton / vityez are all equally good for this task as well. Or put two pins and a magnum on a gepard?

In defense of my post, if your assessment were true I wouldn't have bothered writing anything to encourage Gareth pilots. I land plenty of kills and beacon steals with Gareth in battle wins often enough to write what I said. Sure maybe 'you could do better with this or that', but the point was that Gareth doesn't necessarily have to be suspended from battle. Clearly this post wasn't meant for those who don't like Gareth or who are all about max damage with the same ol hangar in every battle. Bo rinnng!

I will say, after my very negative post directly before your last. Gary was my favourite bot. First I got to level 10 with 10 weapons. I still bring him out for light bot tasks. I am not going to neuter him with a tullumbas. If I run him he has plasma. In the right situations it's brilliant. Unfortunately in the wrong situations he dies - but at least he will be in there slogging and doing serious damage - not hanging around the edges slinging pot shots that do a third the damage of an RDB.

Both in my reply and my Real Pilots of Genius thread. Alzo, I don't hate the Gareth, I couldn't care less what you want to run it with. I do however care about being completely upfront about what any bot is and isn't when equiped with what.
