As stated in the title, yes I am the dreaded, or loved (depending on which side of the barrel you find yourself) noob player. That said, I found very quickly while perusing topics on this forum, that there is much knowledge to gain from those who have played at levels I don't even understand. Quite quickly I ran into shorthand and slang with which I'm not familiar. While there may be a thread detailing said jargon, I did not find it. I offer the above as an indicator of where I am in the search for knowledge of the game, rather than a singular query. In truth I'm not sure where to begin...
So, if any of you grizzled vets out there are willing to teach, I would appreciate it greatly. I'll check back frequently.. SM

Keep playing the game. Keep reading the Wiki/Forum. Those two things alone will bring many steps up the Palace of Enlightenment.

From the little I know. Mm-match making (a hot topic in the forums and in game experience) 4/6 - ROBOT LEVEL / weapon lvl Nacl - salt
lots of cute abreviated bots with a particular weapon load out. -thunder bot name is a robot with a big shotgun on it -anything GEP is scary..... run run run away -Pinatas aka pins (not for poking) and not to be mistaken for mexican candy dispensers. but they do make what they hit into pinatas.
Thats it for the basics. Now u are perspectivly clear.

Well, we need a few things, like your profile. When looking for possible candidates for my clan p, i always check their profile to see what decisions they had already made. So, post your profile.

Gulp. pinata is many missles focused close range pin is a few longer range missles more splash damage.

There's this thing the War Robots player community built that contains all the knowledge you seek. The Forums are to support this thing, not the other way 'round. Fame comes at a price I suppose... warrobots.wikia.com/wiki/Beginners_Guide

Priority wsp purchases 4xmagnum 3x Taran Priority gold purchases 2x orkan 1x galahad 3x aphid gep (no kidding you'll go far with this) Start light and medium bot 4/6 Then proceed 6/8 heavies This is the route I followed. Edit: This is where I'm currently at Notice that 4/8 aphid gep, it's still a beast in my tier.

I must say that I am impressed with the number of replies, not to mention the near complete lack of snark and snobbery. Thank you, all who have offered your help. I will post my profile, as requested. If it's not included in this post, that's only because Im revisiting the proper way to ul it. (been a minute since I've used proboards) In an effort to provide info sans pic, I went ahead and purchased the gepard for 1200 gold as it seemed a likely best choice. I've currently got it equipped with suraff and two punishes. That said, I've also purchased an aphid as it was "recommended." So far I've been thoroughly underwhelmed by it. That of course, is no indication of its usefulness just my experience thus far. Lastly, the snowflakes have proven to be generous and I've picked up several bots as well as weapons. Looking forward to a continued conversation, TY again! - SM

I've only been here a couple of weeks, but I'll share what this community has taught me thus far:
1. Slots before bots, always. Get your 3rd and 4th slots ASAP - do not spend gold on anything else until you unlock those. 2. After slots, next level your weapons. Always keep your weapons at least 2 levels above your bots 3. Do not put a medium bot like your Vityaz in the lineup yet. It will push you up to face tougher opponents in games than you are probably ready for.
I also think you have leveled up your Gepard too high. Others with more knowledge will let you know, but I think 4/6 is what you want. I'm not sure where a 6/6 Gepard will put you. For now I would focus on getting 3 Pinatas on it... but AFTER you have 4 slots.
I would suggest a Cossack for grabbing beacons. Mine is at 4/6 and I either run a Tulumbas or a Punisher T on it. I'm saving Workshop Points for a Taran for it. The Cossack is jump capable so you can get to beacons and capture them faster than anything in the game at this level.
Probably your best and cheapest hangar will be 4/6 Cossack with a Punisher T and then 3 Schutze with Thunders. All can be bought with silver - save all of your gold for slots.

Agree with lephturn about the level on your Gep. One thing all new players should do is ignore every suggestion the game gives you for leveling. It's complete rubbish, and will send you into higher-tier play well before you're ready if you follow its advice. Don't feel too bad- you'll want a higher-level Gep later, so you didn't ruin anything, just perhaps delayed it.

Oh yeah - Dredd77 is right, you just put your Gepard in storage for now - it will be a great bot later on. Although, if you get the offer for a Gepard with 3x Pinatas for $5 I'd highly recommend it if you have the resources. Just don't level it past 2.

When you prepare to go higher level, remember these few alphabets... D B - Dead Button (Bot with Orkan and Pinata) R D B - Russian Dead Button (Bot with CRV Pin and Tulumbas) P D B - Plasma Dead Button (Bot with Taran and Magnum) You will be seeing bots with above setup such as Rhino, Griffin and Lancelot in higher tier. These are the main force you need to have in your future hanger.

Cossacks with Tarans (plasma gun, needs WSP, after character level 20) and Orkans (like 2xPinata w/ constant fire, needs Au, slots first) are some of the deadliest opponents in the lower tiers when they have a decent pilot at the helm. I have one of each on my n00b iOS account at 4/7. When I was gold farming on my Android account, I would always have 1 of each in my hanger for beacon capping before hauling out the Gepards.
Speaking of the much-maligned Gepard, 3xPinatas, 3xPins, and of course 3xMagnums are the most common builds. Go with Pinatas if you like close range, use the Pins for medium range if you are more of the dodgy type. That's for future reference, as others stated, your current Gep is netting you nastier opponents than the rest of your hanger can handle. Skill can only compensate so much for equipment disparities.
Can't wait for the new MM. I don't really care how much different it is, at this rate any change is a chance at improvement.

Great info, guys n gals! I would like to address a couple of comments specifically. A) If you can get a geppard for $5.... -please direct me the..ah.. secondary market, lol B) Geppard leveled beyond useful at current level - With so many in agreement with this kernel of wisdom, I have no doubt that it is a sound and accurate observation. That said, I'm a bit confused as my experience has been to the contrary. There have been sporadic battles in which I've been outclassed considerably;the vast majority have resulted in a 1st-3rd place ranking. I could be on the edge of a colossal string of losses for sure. The plausibility of this scenario seems obvious. I can't help but wonder however if perhaps the handicap is less than imagined?
Finally, thanks to all for the new and strategically superior task list, I will put it to use post haste! - SM

a) Did the game offer you the Gold/Silver bundle yet? It offers the Gep one the same way, you'll see it when it pops up on your screen. b) I'd say that if what you're doing works for you, roll with it. Conventional wisdom has been pretty solid on MM tiering, but things are in a state of flux right now. We've seen some unusual pairing in advance of the full MM revision rollout next month. Could be matchmaking, could be you're just a natural, could be you've got a tape deck strapped to your leg and are listening to the inspiring words of Col. Charles "Chappie" Sinclair as you pilot.
Could be all three.

It's how the match making system rates your active hanger. Your strongest bot determines your hanger score, then the match maker (supposedly) finds other available players with a similar hanger score. That time you got hopelessly out-matched? It's what we call "rubber-banding" where-in the match maker drags you into a bad match because you were available and nobody else was. Level up that Geppard or it's guns much more and you'll see that happeneing a lot more, that's the cautionary tale anyways.
The flaws of the current MM are many and varied and covered very well in other threads. Hence the hope for a new system.
