Seriously, F. them. Just had three low bronze battles in a row where the entire blue team was meched out in less than 5 minutes. I managed to kill 1 each in 2 of the matches, but there were always more waiting in the hangar. F. those things! I think I might be at the point of just leaving the battle when I see them. I hate leaving battles, but I'd like to actually play the game. Don't quit just because you see one. There's quite a few players out there that only run one, or two. You can take them out and then everything settles down. Don't simply assume that they're all clubbers though. If I see a Mag Gep with a paint job, well then that's probably a dedicated clubber. I've seen hangers with 5 Geps, each with a paint job. That's a lot of Au on paint. To each their own..

@dasveen Saw my first Croc Gep in the wild yesterday, and you'd better believe that guy was a clubber.

One of the junior members of my clan has 2 croc Gepards. I wouldn't spend gold on that, but it amuses him.
He runs around making chomping noises.
Gepards do kind of suck- I don't think anyone enjoys facing them. Game balance issue, in the lower tiers they're imbalanced.
It's even gotten worse lately. I know a bunch of Gepard users who've gone from partial Gepard hangars to full Gepard hangars in order to be able to compete against (irony alert) all those damn Gepards out there.

I don'the understand that. Why not just move past them if it's such a problem? I've seen my share of clubbers and clans of clubbers, but for me they haven't been so prevalent that I've felt the need to change anything. Currently I go after them. Win, or lose I feel it just helps my game.

Wow the gep lovers are so polite on here. Maybe certain gep haters should learn some style, in game and on forum. ? I originally wrote a really long response about life, coaching soccer, getting whooped in boxing and career advancement. It was a masterpiece... of 「dookie」. So I self edited down to my advice all my girls get after a tough soccer game. This was not in rants so you must be looking for some tough love advice. ?

In fairness, the clubb-ers have a whole lot less to be salty about than the clubb-ees. "Filthy pleb, you just got your blood all over my nice new paint job. *sigh* And to think, I just waxed it, too!"

I recently started a new account and decided I didn't want to go through the hassle of playing against or with the Gep clubbers. So I don't play with them. As soon as I see a Gep with mags or aphids I leave the battle and enter a new one. Works great. Lots more fun than slogging through dozens of battles against level 30 big spenders and having nothing to show for it.

I try to finish every match on every map. I'd rather have a 50% win rate finishing every game than pop out of maps or leave when I see sommething I don't like. The only appropriate time I leave maps is after double digits of matches on SF/yamma.
Yes, geps are a hard customer, but learning to manuever against something twice your speed makes ambushing medium/heavy bots a breeze.

I am bugged and confused how match maker seems to have the magically consistent ability to stick all the Gep Hangars together on one team.

It does depend on MM and tier. Facing them in Golems and Boas is not so tough. Thunders eat them.

There are effective ways to counter gepards: mid/long range weapons and distance are one, Thunders and ambush work well too. That said, if they are many and you have randoms for team mates your chances are not good.
I went up against a squad of clubbers today, my randoms and I got thrashed in about 4 minutes. I then received an invite so I joined just to chat a bit. We went on to the next game rather quickly. I used one bot and the game was over in 2 minutes (on Yamantau, for crying out loud!) After the game, I finished up a quick chat and left. There was very little to enjoy about that kind of game for me. I was competing with my team mates to see who got the most damage rather than battling red with strategy and tactics. Red randoms had zero chance against that, no matter what bot they spawned in.
A full gepard squad against another full gepard squad might be interesting, otherwise I don't see much point. Might as well challenge the neighbour's 5 yr old kid to a game of hoops.
A gold bot should be better than a silver bot, I agree. But the Gepard has enjoyed particular favour from Pixonic for a long time, while all around it other bots get nerfed. If changes were to be made, I might suggest that it start at 45kph and level up to about 65kph by level 9. HP could start around 45,000 and go to 125,000 by level 12. It would still be OP, but not nearly as dominant in bronze/low silver as it currently is. More top speed and hp might help make it somewhat useful in gold. Take away the brit bot mm penalty in silver, the Gareth is probably the best counter to mag/aphid geps. Buff pinatas/Orkans slightly so that it is harder to outrun them. There is a lot of room to tweak the game balance.
I find it interesting that I have put myself in this position, just recently I vehemently stated that players should play the game with the bots/weapons as they currently are and deal with it. I do stand by that. I expect to see the odd Gepard stampede, and I take immense satisfaction on those rare occasions when we triumph. When we get thrashed, we just move on to the next game.
I think the game suffers (at any level) when one bot is the answer to every question. I am actually happy that aphids are good, most every clubber has a bot with them now, so there is at least a bit of variety in place of the endless waves of pew-pew-pew.
If the gep stays as it is, I am OK with that. In gold they are almost irrelevant. In high silver, they are dominant but not unbeatable. Bronze/low silver is where the problem is, and hopefully the new matchmaker will address that.
Cheers!

I heard them say that during the Q&A but I'm not holding my breath. I think they'd sacrifice everything else before their the Gep. I'm so disappointed with how quickly the Lancelot became irrelevant with the aphid buff--a 5K gold bot. I don't think Pix minds though since people are more likely to pay RM on a Gep than on a Lance. And with the aphid buff, I bet more people are buying Geps (or Aphids). aphid Gepards are strong, but they arent invincible. If they become that much of a problem, more people will run snipers and spiral bots to wipe them out. I also heard the developer podcast, and I don't think they want to mess with the money making Gepard. I would suggest that Gepard just get considered by matchmaker as Medium bots. They would still be strong, but not so difficult to discourage people from playing. Imagine a fast medium bot (Gepard strong and fast with three light hard points) 4/9 in low silver instead of 4/12. In that world, the Gepard would still be strong and fun to buy/play, but it would not be so aggravating to Gep-haters. that would mean bronze might see 4/6 geps (or 2/8). Still strong, but not terrible imho.

Try buyin a few, and fight fire with fire! Otherwise, learn the anti-gep setups. Best to get a few. Learn how to pilot them, learn how to kill them.
