Hi,
that's it for me. And for one last time I'll write down my thoughts, because it helps to vent steam sometimes, and I'm very disappointed that the game went down this road.
I have been patient for almost half a year to see the matchmaking/tanking problems fixed. I hoped that at one point I would be able to again run the hangars I like, and not the one dictated by the meta. I hoped that at one point I would be able to squad again, given that I'm too weak or too strong for my mates, and almost every squad game I played this year was a pushover, usually with me on the losing side on account of being matched against maxed squads.I have been patient with the connection problems: For over 3 months I'll get the dreaded "connecting" message in at least half of my games whenever I play on my pad, and while I stare at that message I can watch the battle perfectly - how in the world can there be a connection issue if I can see all the moves of my enemies, including how my immobile robot is shredded?
Pixo has not listened to the round table. They have heard what they wanted to hear, and discarded the rest. None of the changes announced in the roadmap will fix any of the major problems with the game. Introduce new robots and new weapons? New maps? Yes, that would improve the game (in fact the moon map was the only good thing I've seen in 2017), if it wasn't severely broken in other places. But hey, open your eyes and see what the problem is: Only 30% of the matches go down the wire (those with equal numbers of tankers on both sides). Nothing worse than realizing that I fought for 6 minutes in a battle that was doomed from the first second, because I was up against TT squads with my puny 9/9 hangar, being the strongest on my team of course. Or realizing that two of my fellow teammates have turned into statues. Tanking or connection issues, whatever. Or that two of the blue ones are statues. Note: Winning isn't everything. I don't enjoy those games more if I'm on the winning side.
In at least 70% of my matches it simply doesn't matter at all if I play well, if I defeat a superior player, if I pull a clever stunt - the game outcome is determined with 9:59 to go in the match. I could nod off in midgame, play like crap, it doesn't matter. Sometimes it's obvious, in the games where you see that 2 of your fellow teammates don't even start to move after spawning. Now, if I eject from the game I'll end up in the LQ. Great. So I have to endure the game, or become a statue myself. Great. Now, even we you have equal number of players, the outcomne is still determined with 9:59 to go, because the team setup is that lopsided. If you have to throw in 12/12 guys with 7/7 guys, can't you at least try to distribute the 12/12 guys equally to both teams? Apparently not. At times I started playing again, jumping into a game and enjoying it, maybe even for 1-2 matches - but inevitably I will be in a match where 2-3 players are tankers, and the realization hits me like an ice bucket that I couldn't do 「dookie」 to change the outcome. There is only so much punishment I can take. I've reached my personal limit.
Hey Pixo,do you really think the Dash robots will cure this disease?
I mean, they had a perfect product half a year ago. Just tweak matchmaking a bit, enhance team play, maybe team wars or something like that. But somehow, the developers who knew how to build a product that players want were obviously replaced by guys that couldn't find their behind even if you gave them a map. Every single "enhancement" they did could be expoited easily - and for most of them, people here did foresee those exploits way in advance. But apparently Pixo didn't care, or they didn't manage to read the discussions here. Tanker league? Talk about a wet dream for some players. And then the birthday event, they really made it easy to achieve the goals - only for the cheaters, of course. All the honest players had no change to get to the final stages of course. Hands up, who has won a Rog without tanking? And please, let's shred the ranking system, let's make sure every single player in the top 50 is a tanker.
Some of you will not know these problems. Lucky devils. Players that tank have to go down to silver or gold leagues in order to get a significant advantage from having a stronger hangars. So yeah, if you have maxed your hangar then you may shake your head and think "what the hell is he talking about"? Well, think about it - Pixo managed to keep the established players content, while frustrating all the new players. Now, who is more likely to spend money on the game - new players or established players with a 50.000 gold stash and all the robots they'll ever need? I guess rewenue is shrinking. Maybe this is the reason for Pixo trying to sell stuff like a level 1 Magnum and a Taran for "only" $70, or three heavy AG robots for "only" $20. I think Pixo has given up on the game and is trying to extract as much money from their players as they can before they fold. I mean, what could new players piss of worse than taking a deal that they find out just a couple of days later is completely ridiculous?
And now this new currency. I absolutely refuse to pester all the guys I know on a platform I hate (facebook). But of course, even if I did, I could probably never keep up with the guys exploiting the system. Let's see, setting up a fake account and reach level 5 there, it doesn't take a long time to do that.
Hey Pixo, I'm not a whale, but I do have a decent "game budget" that I treat myself to, which amounts to about $400-$500 per year. You got my money for half a year, and this budget could have been yours for years to come, because I usually play only one game at a time, and don't get bored easily.
In fact, it probably would have been yours if you just had returned to the old matchmaking. I might have put up with all the other crap. But now I realized that I can't motivate myself even to do enough battles to collect the gold from the daily tasks. It's time to stop playing. I might even check on the game from time to time to see if something has changed. I could start upgrades if I want, after all I have stashed enough silver to go on for a few months. But hey, the way things are going I'm not holding my breath. Right now I'm done.
Good bye pixo, good bye community. Let's bring on Battle Titans, maybe we'll meet again there.
Best, F.
