Why do Mk II Molots and Punishers appear to be dual guns when their firing rate is the same as the Mk 1 variants (just with higher damage per round)? Wouldn't it make sense for them to have the same damage per round but have double the output? Just saying...
I realize doubling the output would put an increased load on the servers. Here's a suggestion to Pix: Create new animation for the Mk II's to make them somewhat larger cousins of the Mk 1's (think 20mm vs 30mm gatling cannon). Less confusing and more realistic.

I had this conversation about a year ago.
MkII used to have double the fire rate of MKI.
Then it was ninja nerfed to be 1.5x fire rate.
Then it was changed so that the fire rate was the same as the MKI and the damage was 1.5x mk1.
Then fire rates were nerfed 25% for a 15% damage buff for server stability.
Then fire rates were further ninja nerfed with a deficit to damage when the spinup mechanic was introduced.
Then fire rates were nerfed an additional 25% when they got their latest 10% damage increase.
Give up on guns, even if they do double damage to shields, their DPS/DPM against shields will only be somewhere CLOSE to their initial DPS/DPM BEFORE they nerfed guns to shyte.

The game balance is designed so that medium versions do about 1.5x damage of light version. Punishers, Molots, Pin-Tulumbas, Pinata-Orkan, Magnum-Taran, they're all about the same. This 1.5x ratio could be changed, but it would give relative advatage/disadvantage to bots with particular type of hardpoint (think of Rog vs Griff, Leo vs Lance for example).
Damage per round, fire rate etc are then just an implementation detail, and since we don't have official fictional technical manual for War Robots, you are free to rationalize this however you want (heat management, weapon stability, take your pick).
