As stated from the very 1st post. It is a situational decision to Ditch. Be aware that you: -Can ditch -Should ditch -Wait to ditch -Cross map beacon cap then ditch.
If you can before you ditch, think about these 2 options 1st. Try and incorporate them into your next few games and see how it affects the game. Kudos to Thunderkiss & NaCl for highlighting this.
Act as a meat shield whenever you can. Your team will love the sacrifice you made. (monuments will be built in your honour)
Make multiple enemys focus on you. Your team hopefully is watching and will act accordingly (or not) (this act of bravery & cunning will usually win the game)
Moving forward. Lets hear some new stories from some of you that have learned these stratagies recently.

I predict the quad Tulumbas Doc will be a serious contender for the bot slot currently occupied by Russian Death Button Griffs and Triple Trident Furies. If you've tested the Doc with Tuls, it will outperform a Trident Fury pretty easily and be able to get mid-range splash support to more parts of the battlefield --- much faster than either Trident Fury or Russian Death Button Griffin can. Doc quad tulu might out perform a trident fury in tight maps like deadcity, shenzen, and powerplant because it has speed but certainly not in more open maps like canyon,Springfield, yamantau where that extra 100 range and faster cool down from tridents play a big factor. Tulu has an 18 second cool down followed by the 3 seconds it takes to shoot the first set - swap - shoot 2nd set, by the time doc can shoot again a trident fury 3rd volley would've been ready. I thought this too for the long maps, but in test the Doc spans that extra 100m safely due to sufficient cover even on the open maps --- we are talking about only the difference in 100m. Strangely, it's Shentzen where the difference in 100m btw Tul Doc and Trident Fury is the most pronounced - not Yam or SF. On the big maps, the Tul Doc reload is not really a issue due to sufficient cover and easier/more accurate targeting and faster unload (ever evade 1 or even 2 shots of the Trident with a Galahad - the 3 sec unload is really slow). At the end of the day, both setups are unique in the way they can deliver max mid-range splash damage in the the shortest amount of time. I can easily see owning BOTH setups, as the Tul Doc is a quasi knifer if the target has less than 80K HP left and I will not hestitate to hunt down a half damage Lancelot with a Tul Doc in a Dead City beacon and attack scenario. The Doc is that flexible really and its 145K HP is "okay" for most circumstances. IMO most pilots will have the choice between a Doc and a Fury for their premium mid-range splash damage setup and I think that more will choose the Doc --- but only time will tell. Me, I acknowledge that the Trident Fury is pretty much a "must have" bot, but I think that the Fury and Tul Doc can exist in the same hangar easily ---- as long as you have the Au it takes to purchase these bots (the Doc will probably be Au).

I like to make sure that the shield is broken on every Hellfire Rhino I run. When 3/4 of my weapons are gone and I'm plinking away at that advancing red with my last magnum you better believe I'm going to make sure they have to burn through my shield first. That time sitting on the beacon keeping it blue and occupying a red for another 10 seconds can really add up.
Ditto for when I'm standing under the bridge on canyon. Reds can be hesitant to run around to finish you off, especially with allies around.

This is a very biased guide. A player should learn to ditch on their own. I learned to ditch while I was in high silver tier running around in a gepard with no guns. Players will realize and learn hw to ditch at their own pace witch will develop their playstyle.

I find it's almost as fun running my bots into redbots and pushing them around after I've lost my weapons as it is to actually engage in the combat aspect. Or running a Cossak with no weapons and only the shield, and just annoying red bots by climbing up on them and just buzzing around them like a fly. Especially if I can get a fury or a leo isolated. Because of that, I almost never ditch. I always find something valuable to do, if it's nothing more than making members of the red team take time out to kill me. If they are doing that, then they are not shooting at another one of my team mates who *hopefully* is doing something productive.

Due to my aggressive play style, I rarely need to ditch. The only bot that loses weapons and survives to tell about it is the Patton. 2 aphids behind cover still make a meaningful contribution in many fights.

I can be pretty aggressive, and quite often, I'll survive a knife fight with broken legs and need to ditch (sometimes after limping to a beacon).

Yeah. I guess we need an additional rule. Always ditch if you know that's about to happen!

Yeah, that was the joke. Or, as my son would call it, a "not funny joke."
