Was wondering if you were going to do one for the offers and now I know. I especially liked how you ended your article with players have been a bit spoiled and to consider exactly what Pix is and isn't doing to get money. Good read!

I think that calling the people calling BS a "Greek Chorus of Cynicism" has some merits, however there is an ACTUAL problem with what pix has done.
This isn't gordon gekko greed, this is selling pink sheets to old ladies with high pressure tactics.
Hence we have a single hydra going for $44.99(US) right now, and what ever ridiculous amount that they were selling mags for.
We, here reading this, collectively know that if given the money for this set of offers that the hydra is the LAST thing you should buy, the value IS NOT THERE....
But does some newer player just graduating from bronze know that? Have they had enough gold to figure out that the WSP system gets costly if using gold... that this is a bad deal.
No probably not, and that IS a problem, the price implies that the product is something that it is NOT, it isn't a win button, hell it isn't even that good.
You know what happens if they keep pushing these "digital juicero" style deals? People who buy them quit and don't come back, we, don't tell our friends to come and play and then war robots goes poof.

Hah! One of the reasons I stuck to playing War Robots early on was lack of the stupid 'energy/battle point' thing. I like playing as much or as little as I want. Don't appreciate games that limit that. Or don't limit, but ya gotta spend money to play extra.
Anyways... I don't begrudge Pixonic their Judas silver. I can pick to either buy, or not to buy. Well. Anything.
My main beef with the fart-bux (Influence Points) is I don't want an extra notification in my Dailies tab. Pretty small stuff, all things considered.
Lookin' forward to your take on the 'deals' in part deux.

I think Fart Bucks (IP) should be added to the Glossary. Not complaining. I just think it's a catchy nickname.

Interesting read.
Pixonic seems to be following a marketing model, that does not suit the relevance of the content. Pixonic has misread their largest demographic.
Many games have failed because they catered to a potentially new market while ignoring the established player base, which is guaranteed income.
Venetech, Pixonic's main Investor, has absolutely zero mobile gaming experience and this shows. Through both the recent Buffing and rediculous pricing - Pixonic is not solely responsible for the current state of the game.
In business Reputation and Image are Everything. This will harm Pixonic ..

Can't take credit for Fart-bux, infraviolet. Шɑɡɡɪή planted the seed of the idea. I'm just hammering it in until it becomes a 'thing'. Because saying or typing it gives me a chuckle. Every. Time. Heheh

I concur this Gepard Diary's point that's why I told my boy sometimes we need to buy some gold to keep it alive. but guess what when I first saw the DISCOUNT price for the WSP stuff I thought it was typo; I got all Taran*3 Magnum*5 Hydra*2 without spent any money, and don't even bother to upgrade my Hydra keep them lvl1 hanging up. Hydra is not effective in higher tier it does make annoyance.

The reason was simple. They translated WSP being the most expensive currency in-game. Because you can only "buy" WSP by gold. (unfortunately Pix did not use silver <-> WSP currency translation). So what Pix did was to calculate how much real money you need to buy the gold to buy the WSP for the weapon. LOL
So all the WSP weapons cost some ridiculous amount of real money calculating it this way.

One of the best readings in Gepard Diary so far.
Hope Pix will keep their approach on the "pay to be better" level and won't shift to "pay to play more". I've played a game with refill-the-fuel-after-x-battles mechanism shortly and it was pretty annoying.

Good read. I've thought for a while that Pixonic had a better model than many in terms of what they have on offer. There is, in my opinion, a pretty good balance of power and gameplay in the stuff that -everyone- can reasonably expect to get vs. the expensive stuff that only part of the player base can reasonably expect to obtain. (In the previous meta, the Lancelot was the sole exception to this, IMO.)
I find it fair enough to drop some cash on pretty regularly, because I'd like to see this kind of structure continue.

But remember, if you buy WSP for gold it is a sliding scale. 5 AU nets you 60, then 8 AU nets you 80 and so forth. Raxh purchase reduces the ratio of WSP earned per AU spent. Now if you were trying to purchase a Taran with 0 WSP and only buying WSP with gold in say a 5 minute period, you would have to use an enourmous amount of gold. So price wise, assuming just gold to buy the WSP, the deals may be valuable. However, what many people are angered by is the fact that veteran players who have access to the WSP shop know that with patience and time, you can get any item for little silver. Yet on the other hand, a new player will not realize this. They may be tempted to splurge on a magnum for say 20$, then later realize they were ripped off. This makes PIX look greedy and had because it seems as if they are taking advantage of new players who may not realize how bad a deal is. All that said, I am reminded of Hanlon's Razor... "Never attribute to Malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity". People view PIX as greedy. My guess, it's a business. Some people play ear robots who work there, some don't. The guy in marketing who was probably told to come up with deals to include... He probably doesn't play War Robots. He was told how much an item costs in gold, gave it a discount, and up it went. Yet no one explained the mechanics of the game Or how his "deal" wasn't.

Good points in your article.
But those offers reminds me on a fitness chain in Germany. They charged 60€ a month. A half year later you could purchase a lifetime membership at 2000€. Another half year later that membershift was on discount at just 500€.
Well, and another half year later the story was over and they closed. The investors got their money back.
And the loyal long term customers just got a firetruck.
Pixonic's all of a sudden new course, is aggressive growth (IC/facebook), paired with maximizing profits from new customers. That tells me the company is damn short on money. Good business is focused either on maximizing profit, or growth. Both together is usually a sign of being close to insolvency.

Hmmm... It may not be that the company is short in money but rather they are anticipating an upcoming shortage and attempting to stockpile a reserve.
We are 2 weeks away from the official start of summer. Schools end, vacations start, and minds shift from workday distractions to dull on vacation mode. Little Tommy who use to play war robots after finishing his homework instead has baseball and is told to get outside instead of being on that darn phone all day. Jen was told to get a job and works 9-5 in a mall, and spend a evenings out with friends enjoying her new income instead of sitting in her phone. Mom and dad drag the family on a vacation to unplug in the Berkshires. Companies in EU spend a whole month shut down because... It's summer.
I've seen in other games a lull during the summer. Activity drops as summer creeps in. Even video game releases tend to hit in spring and fall but not summer. So maybe PICk a trying to prep by stockpiling cash now for later use?

My annoyance is not that they are offering deals, it's that the deals are worthless to any non brand new player and they continue to place value on WSP items not in keeping with there comparative value to gold weapons.

WSP weapons might actually do get some newbies to buy them. I remember when I first started I was progressing along the way. Roughly when I was somewhere in level 10~20 I started to notice there are some ridiculous weapons which destroys me alot faster than any other weapon I have ever seen! I found out by matching the shape of weapon that the crazy weapon is called 'Taran'. Although I wouldn't be able to afford the real money price it is offered today for a pair of Tarans, you should try to imagine how much I wanted that weapon before I hit level 20 and start my WSP collection!
Some rich newbie would definitely buy them. Only to realize later that WSP is very easily acquired after level 20.
This effect will also cause great game imbalance to the lower newbie league because you can buy weapons and bots that are otherwise not allowed for level 1 players and dominate the battlefield until you reach bronze league.
