Springfield is a very fun map(or that's what I think anyways) but people often complain about the map. It's disliked less than the Moon map, but I still find it rather odd. What are your reasons, Springfield haters?

I think most complaints have boiled down to two factors.
1. Imbalanced spawn points 2. Large size/long travel times
Me, I've always enjoyed the map.

I like Springfield with riverbed spawn, although I think dam side has a big advantage for center in that configuration.
My issue with Springfield though is city spawn points. Randoms have trouble realizing that 2-3 guys have to cross the river and get 2/3 of the beacons over there. If you are the only blue trying to grab those beacons and defend them for the win, and the rest of your team just trades blows in the city with 3-4 reds, you will lose on beacons, and you will finish last in damage. Its a bad set-up.

In fact i like the big maps most, because my favorite role is midranger (Pin/Tulu Griff) The one i don't like at all is Moonmap ... For some reason, i get this map sooo often, that i skip it sometimes, because i can't see it anymore and my team is mostly losing there too ... Springfield is really great, as long as not everybody is doing what heavy Panda said

After they nerfed Gekko's, I've kind of enjoyed it up to the most recent patch. Unfortunately, it's a PITA to get from one side of the map to the other if there are two high-powered snipers on one side. Also obnoxious (and common to see) if there's one high-powered sniper and a combination of RDB and Zeus. Admittedly, my gripes are largely because I'm mostly a knife-fighter.

Springfield and Powerplant are some really eye opening maps as far as spawn point locations are concerned. Springfield is just longer, exacerbating slow bots' speed. Which also ties into people that dislike Yamantau, because despite how even the spawn point locations are, you actually have to suck up the fact that you play heavy sloww arsed bots that take forever to get anywhere (which, of course, has the blame of placed on Pix's shoulders for some unGodly reason).

I don't like it because almost everyone is having a slugfest on the city side of the map while only a few of us are on the other side actually trying to win the match for our respective sides. Making that long walk five times is no fun.

I think most of the people that dislike certain maps are just one-dimensional players. And they don't like being forced out of their comfort zone. Springfield is a map that requires skill and patience as well, and many people aren't patient. They want so badly to get into the fight that they overextend and end up dying. Spend 60 seconds getting to the fight, die in 15, rinse repeat.
I personally like every map pretty much. Yes, even Yamatau. There's something about a deathmatch over a single beacon that I find exciting. Usually the losing team is the one who's players respawn and immediately run at center again. It's always an entertaining match, albeit a little slow sometimes.
I didn't even know people disliked the moon map until reading other comments here. The only thing that isn't really viable is sniping, and I didn't think there were that many people that focus on sniping to care about that. So I'm not sure what else would irk people. So many people hated Yamatau because of how slow paced the games were, and moon map is the polar opposite. You never have to go more than 10-15 seconds without a chance to engage, and beacons can go from 4-1 to 1-4 in the blink of an eye.
Back to the main point - aside from generally always being a 10 minute match, Springfield usually has great gameplay.

Even if you didn't read their blog, it's their worst designed map. The old spawn points used to be heavily one-sided. But even if you never experienced it, with the new spawn points, the map isn't really symmetric or balanced.
Now, I don't think maps have to be totally symmetric. Look at powerplant, and it has the beach side and the powerplant side. But it's still balanced for the most part.
I don't have a problem with unbalanced maps since it gives one side more of a challenge. But I think many do want to play on balanced maps where both teams of randoms have 50/50 chance of winning. For clans with 90%+ win rates and not enough Legend clans to matchmaker with, then using an unbalanced map can even the playing field against a bunch of random Experts that they are going to roll over anyways. Even slightly unbalanced maps can be fun and see which side in a clan vs clan battle has the better generals.

High tier players tend to run heavy bots, which are slower. Many also specialize their hangers for close range high damage. These combined make sniper havens like Springfield, canyon etc disliked. As someone posted before patience is key. Fight smarter not harder! Good luck and good hunting ?

I dislike canyon more than Springfield, but I feel they're both poorly designed compared to Yamantau. Its a great map with terrible beacon locations. If they were moved into the forefront more, it'd be a really fun, well balanced map with activity at all ranges more so than it is now. Shenzhen is solid, but it needs a little more terrain in the middle to serve as cover, moon is nearly optimal if it were just scaled up about 15% in size to give mid/long range an actual role other than last bot dropped. Used to love dead city, but its a rocket trap paradise now. It could use a few slightly longer sight lines also.

too large. takes ages to get around especially when trying to cap the outer beacons. can take a long time to get back into the fight after spawning. in a nut shell too much running around.

'Springfield' used to be my favourite. Which reminds me, I need to change this in my Profile.
The reason it fell out of favour from me is because, well the Rocketry Buff. I used to be able to crawl through the cityscape to antagonize Snipers and take them off the battlefield. This new 'Buff' has made it a Fool's errand.
Additionally, there are two (2) Springfields. One (1) is physically smaller than the other. You can tell which Springfield you are on by looking at the connecting point of the catwalk to the Beacon on the 'rise.' If you do not see a long protrusion, that used to catch everyone, then you are on the newer Springfield. On the newer Springfield, range is skewed. I've been hit by Punishers from +700m and Aphids from +500m.
It's the same with Powerplant. The newer version has raised grates, where you won't get caught. While the older version has lowered grates and you will be caught.
I'll post Screenshots when I can ..

Used to love dead city, but its a rocket trap paradise now. It could use a few slightly longer sight lines also. That's part of the fun. The maps are all unique and different, so requires adjusting and using different strategies. But first, Canyon is my favorite map, but I feel Yamantau is the best designed. But Canyon is pretty close to Yamantau, so a lot of the same strategies will work on both. Back to the uniqueness of each map. Some maps have a no man's land in the middle, like Shenzhen. Yamantau has a centre with cover, while Canyon is sorta open, sorta protected depending on where you are. So your strategy for middle beacon is gonna vary and keeps things interesting. Maps like Springfield and Yamantau favor long range, so it's only fair to have maps like Moon and Dead City. I've had some really outstanding games with my Fury on Dead City and Moon, so it's possible to find a good spot. On Moon, there are almost no good sightlines for a Fury, so having a good game with it is more rewarding. Now if you play with a Raijin, it has the high ground and the most sightlines so this is prolly the best map for it. In fact, it's a different game when you're playing with the Raijin long range, and you can hit them on their ramp, hit them when they go to the upper deck, hit them under the tunnel, hit them on top of the centre dome, and hit them by their left beacon all from one spot. Heck, I've even hit their Fury or Aphid Patton when they were standing inside their base, on top of that hill right next to spawn! So the map is the perfect size for the Trident Raijin to hit all these spots.

Starting out all the maps were interesting but as I leveled up and learned how to play I began to hate Springfield. There were always snipers that'd cut me down before I could get anywhere. Eventually I learned more, specifically, as has been mentioned, I learned patience, and now SF is great, maybe my favorite. Instead of just blindly running to reds or beacons I move out cautiously, watching intently for where snipers are and timing my movements or taking a longer way round. I find it a very strategically challenging map because you have to account for all ranges most of the time.
Occasionally though I'll see there's no snipers and these are battles are trippy. Kinda throws me, like really, I can just walk out in the open like this.
The worst thing about SF is when we all spawn city side and I'm the only blue that tries to go into the fields. That's the players though, not the map.
I also prefer asymmetry and SF has the most. I also like maps with multiple battlefront regions so when I respawn I get to think about where I'm needed. Yama is so dumb in this respect, it's just go for center, go for center, ad nauseam.
I also tend to run faster bots so maybe that's another factor why the size of SF doesn't bother me.

I dislike SF (and any asymetric map) because it adds one more obstacle players need to overcome that's outside of their control. It's the equivalent (in my eyes) as saying "haha my squad is better than you cuz we beat you, it doesn't matter that we played 6v5, you being down a man is irrelevant, you should adapted..."
Look at it this way, when the international War Robots clan tournaments are played, clan leaders all agree that certain maps are not going to be dropped on.
Why? Because all participants know those maps are so unbalanced it will likely affect match outcomes. From the perspective of "let's find out who's the BEST clan on Android", map spawn points shouldn't be the deciding factor.

I run a treb butch now for long range maps, without a long ranger i hated spring and yam.... light bots get cut down by snipers and heavys take forever to make a difference... Now i just cut down all the griffons n rogs and make them hate the map lol

I think most complaints have boiled down to two factors. 1. Imbalanced spawn points 2. Large size/long travel times Me, I've always enjoyed the map. It is more than just the long walk that makes this map bad. A big problem with the map is that grabbing the farm, center, or dam side beacons are not rewarded. Not only do you take a several minute long walk but you also eat trebuchet sandwhich while you do it. Once the game is over, your actions might have won the game but you'll be shortchanged on silver and you have very little chance of placing top 3 for gold. Some of this could be alleviated by placing more silver rewards for damage on sf and possibly more cups for beacons. The map could also be made slightly smaller decrease walking time.

It's not the size of the map that bugs me, though it does take forever to beacon cap. It's the asymmetry. If the devs wanted to they could make it symmetrical and still keep the farm side/city side aspects of it. But how it is now, if you spawn on the dam side all it takes is a rog to jump the wall to the right and grab that beacon and you've got an early lead 3:2. The other team has a much farther trip to grab the farm beacon.
If you've read the "history" of War Robots they posted on fb a while back you'll know it's because that map was the first one created, and at the time they were actually making a car racing game, not a robot fighting game.
What bugs me more though is how they ruined Shenzhen with the spawn points. They said it was because if you spawned on the side with the big blue building then you had an extra 150m or so to reach the center. Hey here's an idea, shorten that side or make the other side longer and give us back the corner spawn points. I hate rounding that first corner only to have half my life taken out by a tt fury 3 seconds into the match.
Sorry if that was a rant...As for moon, it's my new fave! Only the campers hate it, except for the pesky hydra Fujins. Can't wait for the new valley map, should be more of the same.

I really get pissed off when people say maps like Yamantau and Springfield are bad, I mean, they choose heavy bots whose weakness is their low mobility, so the maps, are actually more balanced than others. People who hate on these maps, if you're going to use a heavy bot, don't 「fluffernutter」ing complain.

Everything might change with Beacon Rush. I truly hope beacon spawn never comes to fruition. It is completely negates the slow ponderous downside of a heavy bot.

I like this map, except for the moment when I finally reach the D beacon, arriving there traveling across the Stepp, Prarie, Pampas, or whatever, hiding from the gaze of Trebs between hills, only to be killed by Tri/RDB across the river right before turning it blue, ... I wrote in another thread before: this map would become more enjoyable if all bot speed increased by 10% (Stalker 66 -> 73, Griff 35 -> 39, Natasha 25 -> 28Km/h, etc). the first impression of this game was how surprisingly sluggish most bots are (even more when under-leveled). right now the faster bots are not too fast to control, but slower bots are too painfully sluggish. increasing all bot speed a bit, I think, will make the game generally more enjoyable. increasing all by 10% will also increase the gap between faster and slower bots, which may also help the balance by allowing light bots better niches. ah well, most likely won't happen

Springfield would be ok if we had auto mode ie. send bot to point A to B. So you could do some Lanudry, cook breakfast, wash the car, mow the lawn etc.

Cheering if you've aimed right.
