Punishers are useless.
However Molots are great at Yama\Canyon\Springfield as a anti-Zeus\Trident counter.
At 700m Molots doing decent damage, and Griffin can jump back is Zeus Carnage decide to rush into a range.
And at 800m you can easily chip Ancile in a matter of seconds, be it Ancilot or Carnage.
It is pity though bullets were nerfed in latest release. Molots were a lot better prior to that. I'd say exactly 12% better.

I like the punishers. I have (2)lvl 9 punishers on a lvl 9 leo with one pin 9 and zeus 9. It is very effective, specially against thunder carnage.

I won't discourage you from playing what you enjoy, however this guide is geared toward maximum effectiveness in the battlefield. Fun is fun, and a great many players can have varying success with many different loadouts, but... Skilled Punishers vs unskilled punishers: skill wins 9:1 Unskilled rockets vs skilled punishers: 5:5 Skilled rockets vs skilled punishers: Rockets 9:1 |

Lynx. Don't. Noricums are like Satan. they lure you in with a relatively short reload and high damage capacity, but it is like firing a Pinta and only having three or four rockets actually hit. The range is nice, but nothing else is. you even can not hit anything that is chasing you unless you get outside of 400m. Maybe when they get done rebalancing the Noricums will they actually be good. but for now, don't waist your silver upgrading Noricums. It would be more effective to run aphids, magnums, or Pintas.

I haven't used any of the dashes, and would prefer to wait for the first batch of nerfs for them. I also have to add a couple of punisher sets and test some Molot sets post balance change. I'm going to have access to a laptop in the near future, so a large post like this would be easier to format with that instead of on mobile. |

I like to wear down the enemy shield to nothing, especially if another bot is going after the same Red. They can hide their bot but their shield sticks out and the Punisher (or an Avenger) can wear it down in a few seconds. Then they're toast. He's so focused on the other bot I can continue to hose him down and he's dead in no time. So I like the guns and missiles, including the Punisher; not everyone can afford top shelf weapons. |

Nothing I have said to anybody has been intentionally snarky. The reason for my comment was two fold - 1: I was amazed at how old the thread you were replying to was - it struck me as funny to comment that it had had a birthday. It in no way meant to put you in a bad light. 2: the amount that this game changes means that the comment (about punishers) that you were replying to is no longer particularly valid. The only other comment that I could see that could be construed as snarky was my 'war robots 101' comment. Again not intended to be snarky in any way. I apologise fully and profusely. |

Thanks Moody, all good. Perhaps there should be a forum created just for new people so they can get questions answered and trade tips on using their old-school weapons/tactics without repeating a topic that's been beat to death already by the veterans. And when I say 'new people,' I mean folks that have been playing less than 1 year. I've been playing since last August and still a total noob.

The one upshot of punishers is that they can take down shields at range and do double damage on physical shields. However, I still prefer shotgun weapons. Avenger is a different story though. It's 2x a punisherT and is the best and most versatile heavy weapon on the field and far superior to Thunder. Here's my hangar. I view it as all-purpose for any mode and any map. I don't have a second hangar and only have 2 bots in storage (a Haechi/Orkan and a Bulgasari/Taran)  My philosophy is a single, high-level, all-purpose hangar with 1 capper, 3 500m brawlers, and 1 special-purpose bot (which I choose sniper). This hangar averages over 5 kills and between 850K to 1.1M damage Beacons Kumi - beacon capper and beacon defense. I like to take beacons with a strider. That pair seems to be very good at taking and defending a beacon until something heavier shows up. I would be keen about a strider, hellburner, or possibly a pursuer in this slot... but Kumi's the one I've got and it performs well enough that I've been working on other parts of my hangar. Brawlers Mercury - This is my rotation bot. I'm going to try a mender here, a pursuer here, I have a Hachi I could put in. This is the slot for trying stuff. Inqusitor - This is my assassin and storming bot. It puts more damage downrange of anything I have by a long shot. I've quad godliked in this thing and it's my favorite bot. I could put punishers on the wings, but the storms load continuously so they can cover me on a retreat if the avenger is loading. Storms do more damage than Orkan inside of 100m. Storm can whittle down ancile at 500m. I love this build. Bulwark - This thing is my beacon defender and brawler. Great survivability, tons of damage. The Mk2 is like adding two heavy armor kits. I see this as my anti Bulwark bot... it does very well against Bulwark/Trident and Bulwark/Dragoon. It is a complete 「illegitimate child」 when it's holding a beacon. Shield management and reloads are key. Long range - This is a very good build. Really good at taking out other support bots as well as Ares, Spectre, and Mercuries. Since people are a lot better at hiding than they used to, the treb lets me do big damage even when I only get a peek at the target. The flux gives me red x's when I'm getting hits so I am usually sure about letting the treb fly (I have the mouse set up so I can fire treb independently from fluxes). |
