I picked brussels sprout. I don't have an inherit problem with them as a vegetable, but people don't seem to understand the proper way of cooking them...
They are either hard as rocks in the middle, or wilted green balls of mush.
If they aren't TINY (and most of the ones I get at the store aren't) you have to cut them bad boys in 1/2 to cook them. Boiling or steaming can work, but you need to have an ice bath handy.
The safer route is roasting or grilling. A bit of lemon, and salt and pepper works and they can stand on their own. However you can apply tons of spices here, a dusting of roasted paprika and some cayenne makes them better.... Notice there isn't any fat in these suggestions! You can baste with butter after the fact, but if you really want to do it right you need an aioli. Thats just a fancy word for mayonnaise, typically with tons of garlic.
The real debate is then do you slather them or dip them. Slathering gets them melty, but dipping gets you more flavor, here I am torn, so you have to pick your own path.

I'm sick of $@&?#% losing every $@&?#%^ game because I'm constantly outmanned and outgunned and nobody will light the #%?&$@ mother$&@?#%+ beacons. I don't have the kind of money to blow to do enough upgrades to compete with the top-end weapons and shields and all that $&?@. Not to mention the morons who sit back and let everybody else do everything. Plus the game keeps pitting me against teams many levels higher. Goddamm it sure takes all the fun out of the game.

About 75% of the battles I've been losing this week were because my teammates ignored beacons. I'm not going to blame Pixonic for encouraging players to prioritize damage over captures... they want players to do more than run around capturing beacons, and I get why. I certainly wish I didn't have to fight shoot so much to win... because my aim is so awful... I can't wait to own a Hydra-Fujin and an Aphid-Patton.

The problem is, a lot of players just plain don't know. They don't know that not only do you need to capture beacons, but you need to hold a majority of them for the majority of 10 minutes. The only other way to win is to destroy all the other team's robots, which is ridiculously difficult. I didn't know until I axed support why my team was losing even though we had 4 beacons and more robots at the end. I know how it works now, but it still doesn't make sense to me. Should be how many beacons you hold after 10 minutes, unless you paste the whole other team first. Now, as for my gripe, it just happened to me again -- down one player, and TWO on my team did nothing. I finally got pi$$ed on,you last robot and got behind one and pushed it onto the battle field, unloading one clip after another into his 「bum-bum」 all the way. He was obviously there because he finally joined the fight, though it was way too late by then. Jerkwad had a Rhino too, so he could have done some damage. Oh, and I'm a level 23, everybody else on the field was 27-30. Ended up first out and with the lowest damage of everybody. I think I got something like 38k silver put of it, maybe my worst outing since I had just the one Destrier. Blahh.

You should say "they don't pay attention". Today, I lost a battle with two clanmates in Springfield because I was the only one capturing beacons C, D, and E when they were turned red. We lost with 5 blue bots still standing versus 1 red bot and only 2 blue beacons (A and B... but B was red almost the entire game since it was near their spawn). I meched out because I was trying to defend three beacons alone. My clan doesn't use comms, but I don't think it would've mattered... everyone is going for highest damage, and most of the reds were near their spawn the whole time.

In the higher leagues I hardly ever have this problem (I'm well in Diamond 3). I don't mind the guys chasing damage for gold 'cos a) they gotta kill reds to do that, and b) I get most of my gold off beacons. My Gareth is my most leveled bot for health, I always open with it and pic up 2 beacon, sometimes 3, straight off the bat. Then I play all out for the team, that usually means I pick p another 2 or 3 and presto, 5au. I always remember 3 things: - If the team loses, nobody gets gold
- I've sometimes walked away from a beacon leaving it white by mistake and only realizing much later and maybe lost the match. In other words, I also make mistakes, even when I playing all out for my Clan. Viva Western Front
- I have to lose 48% of my games so that my rating doesn't exceed my hangar. In fact this is unavoidable (and clever by Pixonic): you will, by the law of averages, be matched in the right games. On average.

The idea is to battle for control of beacons. Most places it's usually the same beacon every match that becomes the battle zone. Center beacon most of the time. People get tunnel vision thinking whoever owns that beacon wins. They forget about all the others. Worst one is when the reds cap your spawn beacon. Even worse is no one bothers to retake it. Killing bots just to kill bots is not good strategy. Beacon cappers were put into the game to add another dimension to the play. Make people have situational awareness and ultimately enhance gameplay experience. We have all suffered through those matches where no one considers it a team sport. No I in team, but there is an M and an E. That spells ME!!! I say 「fluffernutter」em. Just play and level till you get to league where that isn't an issue

I too don't mind the beacons anymore... once you get to high enough play all the team members are good enough to get the beacons of their own volition (other than Springfield when spawning in the city). I also now don't care so much about opponents being higher than me (I'm nearly 10/10 so it's not as big an issue as it used to be at 8 and 9).
Now I'm only concerned with upgrade times and having enough Ag... it's a long wait from 10/10 to 12/12 in all bots/weapons.

I try to be that player who runs and takes other beacons while the fighting is fierce over the central areas, but it seems more and more that the Reds are more adaptable and on the lookout for scouts than my team is. Even then, when I draw some of the enemy away from the central fighting in order to keep their secondary beacons protected, my team refuses to press that advantage, standing back and hurling Hydras or shooting with Molots at times when a strong front-line presence is needed instead. Maddening.

How to share screenshots here. Anyhow it happens to the red team too. Reds got 2 beacons last battle on moon and battle lasted maybe 2 minutes. 10 gold for me capping 2 beacons and scoring 180k damage lol.

rollinfknpowerIf you're on a mobile device, you'll have to switch to desktop mode to add a screenshot. The button should be bottom-right of the text input box for posting. From there, there should be an 'add image' button at the top of the font options. To switch back to mobile view, scroll all the way down and there's a button for it mixed in with the clutter at the bottom of the page.

Beacon Stupidity is as follows:
1) Running off to battle and not grabbing your spawn beacons first 2) Not standing close enough to a beacon to capture it 3) Walking away from a beacon before it is fully captured 4) Everyone hovering around one particular beacon 5) Standing around in the distance while the other team grabs all the beacons 6) Not protecting beacon; being addicted to battle and unable to sit still to protect beacons 7) Not finding ways to capture a beacon without fully exposing your mech 8) Not sacrificing a mech to at least neutralize a beacon to hold the clock 9) Obsessing on the center beacon 10) Trying by oneself to grab a beacon guarded by 2 or more nearly full life mechs 11) Not being still and waiting for a beacon guardian to walk away 12) While on the way to capture a beacon, firing at distracted mechs and drawing their attention possibly losing the opportunity to capture the beacon 13) Obsessing on destroying mechs while neglecting beacons 14) Not watching the beacon life bar 15) Leaving a beacon exposed to capture in order to chase other mechs needlessly 16) When trying to accomplish daily beacon tasks for wsp and gold, there are several stupid mistakes: - Not hiding nearby to allow enemy to take beacon first then pouncing them or taking it back when they walk away like the fool they are - Failing to make hanger primarily quick mechs - Focusing too much on battle instead of capturing beacons

</div>Hahahahaha....what you don't see off to the left is the 5th guy with another Raijin/Treb. I had already been to centre beacon and was on my way back and saw this, couldn't resist the pic. Notice that the closest beacon to spawn (behind them) is still white?

While beacon camping annoys me to no end by both my team mates and the enemy, I find it useful quite a bit, as it means that my team is providing enough of a distraction that I, in my little lighter, can zip around the field of fire and take the enemy beacons without them noticing and, by the time any of them do notice me, the timer is either down to near 0, there are almost no enemies left on the battlefield, or the beacon bar has gone down enough on the enemy side to guarantee my team a solid victory. Of course, I would prefer to be in the fighting, but I do not mind most times if I am merely taking the beacons, as a win, as someone said above, means the gold goes to my team (me, in the case of beacon caps) and more experience points than you would for a loss, not to mention gaining rank in whatever league I happen to be in at the time of the matches I am playing (mostly Silver 1).
The one thing that bothers me with a lot of the matches I play has nothing to do with the beacons - it's the fact that a lot of the time, when you kill someone in the game, they get it into their head that it isn't tolerated and seek you out personally to kill you, to try, as it were, to get vengeance for killing them in the first place.
edit: I should add, that, although this is just a personal gripe of mine, what really gets to me the most are all the players who have named themselves, but have kept the default "pilot" in their name, instead of deleting it and just going with their own chosen username. Always aggregates me to no end, the amount of players I see in any given match I am in, where half the enemy team is named 'pilot ....' while at the same time, half my own team is named. 'Pilot ...' but as I said, personal gripe of mine.

I expect these screenshots may describe my experience on the subject. Pardon the coloring, I play with blue shade on fairly often. Some losses are either unavoidable (matchmaking) or good, hard-fought matches. Losing because you're saddled with incompetent allies who can't/don't grasp a core concept of the game can be infuriating.

...but what the scoreboard doesn't show is players who tried to capture beacons but were killed in the process. 0 captures doesn't mean those players ignored beacons...

I usually don't get upset playing, but last night the blues lost on Yamantau by a small sliver because no one would bet the beacons although some bots were very near them (beacons were 4 red and one blue). It was 4 bots on blue vs 2 on red. I killed a red and ran toward a beacon, but it was too late. Lost six gold pieces, but that didn't bother me... it was just that we had it, but my idiot teammates apparently don't know the rules of the game! ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Maybe they don't know they also acquire silver for captures (and more silver for winning) and not only damage. I've been playing for awhile and didn't know until recently when I visited faq.Walking War Robots.mobi/hc/en-us/articles/203364622-Beacons
